Although trading wih conflicted regions has backfired sometimes and Germans have become wary....especially in the chinese case. Industry got lost...intellectual properties stolen...people have begun to regret...easing the way for a change...

Russia was sent packing when they tried to get Kiev. That single absolute fact was the end of Russia's chance to win the war. No airport, no capitol, no friendly government in place, no nothing. Following that up with taking back big parts of occupied territory last year was the second notice of the war is lost. Now, continuing to lose ground in Bakhmut where thousands of Russians have died, it is another notice that Russia cannot win. Hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded Russians sent home in body bags or burried in land fills. This is just whats happening in Ukraine.

The Russian economy is a toilet. Everyone keep's $hiting in it, and there is no water to flush. It just keeps piling up and backing up further. They cant produce anything, and they cant even keep up with equipment losses in Ukraine. The military is a disaster and could turn on itself at any minute. Just when a counter offensive is getting started and Ukraine has all these new toys to kill Russians with.

Russia cant even secure the occupied area's they want to claim. The army is retreating and building all the defensive barriers it can. Retreating is by definition, not winning. Little Vlad having one tank in Moscow's parade is just another sign of where Russia is in the world. Next year they will be rolling out a brand new Sunbeam Electric Can Opener on wheels as a military piece. The country is a joke, leadership is a joke, and you idiots support it. LMFAO Happy gulag dumb fvcks!

You dont seem to have paid any kind of attention to the Chinese-Russian relations and the meetings between Xi and Putin beyond possibly the headlines or you would come to the same conclusion.

Xi has put Putin in his place numerous times by now. From telling him to drop the constant nuclear threats, to refusing any assistance that might provoke Western sanctions and not openly siding with him in the UN to allowing the renaming of Russian cities on maps to their previous Chinese names (because in a top-down heavy society like China, there is no way this was not permitted from the top).

Russia is a gas station for China, nothing more. If you bothered to read up the recent history between those two countries, you'd also know that there is a lot of resentment between those countries, particulary coming rom China going back to Mao and Stalin/Khrushchev.

When Xi looks at Russia he sees everything he wants to avoid for his own dictatorship. A failing economy and growing discontent in the regions which for now are kept under wraps due to the quagmire that is Ukraine.

Why should he respect Putin/Russia?

What does Xi think of Muscovy ? The same as everyone else does - unreliable, unpredictable, incompetent, aggressive drunks, the kind of people you like to avoid at the tram stop.

Well said. Xi is playing the long game. He wants Siberia and all those natural resources. China has a shrinking society, and he needs to not only change that direction, but have the country become better at distributing wealth outside of major cities. Imagine how efficiently the Chinese could turn Siberia into huge manufacturing and mining centers. This is where Putin has completely failed the Russian people. So dialed in on his retaining power by killing people, he completely $hit the bed on retaining power by building the country. Russia is a wasted opportunity for the last hundred years or so.

Even cooler is the UK supplying Storm Shadow long range missiles to Ukraine now. With a range of 150 miles and deployed by aircraft, these balistic missiles can now reach well within Crimea and all over the occupied territories. These missiles are precision and used to hit hardened targets and infrastructure. I think a bridge may just go boom again sometime soon. Imagine the Ukraine army unleashing massive strikes after Russia has blown its wad all winter and accomplished nothing. The good news for Russia, they will continue to maintain the number one spot in the world for dying. Congrats!
