Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 5

gumishu

but Russians do seem to have means of long range bombardment of large cities and they are not doing it on any really significant sca

actually from what I seem to recall reading Russia is currently quite short of missiles (that's why they bought all those nasty Iranian kamikaze drones)

Rule one when you are short of things:
Cause as much pain and as quickly as you can to make sure that you will not need things you don't have later on since there will not be later on.

Cause as much pain and as quickly as you can

Well all the information is that russia badly miscalculated right at the beginning. One reason they didn't worry about supplies in the begining was..... (remmeber?) they thought Ukrainians would welcome them! putain did not have any direct contact with real Ukrainians or any way to guage real Ukrainian sentiment so he believed a couple of traitors that Ukraine would love, love LOVE begin incorporated into russia.

Lots of american shills for russia were predicting that Ukrainians soldiers would shoot their own officers and/or lay down their weapons and/or joing the russians for a grand celebration in Kyiv....

After that initial miscalculation the inferior russian system hasn't been able to come to the sensible solution: "This was an awful mistake... we need to get out of here!"

Instead they're still bumbling and stumbling around and breaking some stuff but not really achieving any aims (beyond long term destruction of russia).

russia badly miscalculated right at the beginning.

Russia made a terrible mistake by turning loose East Germany and moving its army back home. With 300,000 of them there, even the US would think hard before letting the snake slither toward Russia.

The same with access to Kaliningrad. That should be at the top of the list of non-negotiable items, no matter what.

(beyond long term destruction of russia).

...and the short-term destruction of Ukraine. It will cost at least a million to rebuild Bakhmut.

Germany announced today that they would be giving Ukraine a $3 Billion dollar aid package to strengthen their defense.
That is the most Germany has given since the start of the war and is much appreciated by Ukraine.
Russia is starting to retreat from Bakhmut as they know they have been whipped.

before letting the snake

that's the US you're talking about... why do you still live there? didn't you see this?

themoscowtimes.com/2023/05/11/russia-to-build-migrant-village-for-conservative-american-expats-a81101

If you had any self-respect or integrity you'd be liquidating your assets in the US in order to move to russia....

Russia made a terrible mistake by turning loose East Germany

The Soviet Union was de facto bankrupt and badly needed money and medical and food supply from Western Germany (which it received). The strategic value of the GDR was also greatly diminished with the forseeable collapse of control over Poland which in return would have made maintaining control over the GDR much more difficult.

The SU made many mistakes but giving up on the GDR was not one of them. Gorbachev was perhaps the only leader of the SU who truly understood the limits of his Empire.

Putin has no such awareness for which the Russians are paying dearly.

Ukraine a $3 Billion dollar aid package

Rheinmetall has also announced a joint venture with an Ukrainian arms company. Together they will produce tanks, armored vehicles and ammunition and repair weapon systems that have been donated to Ukraine. Ukraine needs more capabilities to sustain the war effort on their own.

The SU made many mistakes but giving up on the GDR was not one of them.

Red Army with nukes in Eastern Germany would be a very effective chill pill up your butts and it would not be that expensive. A great negotiating point...

Even Russia freely admits now that it took Western scum on its word and got nothing in return. Trusting is a deadly sin.

from who?

I think rule 1 when you are short of things is leave enough to defend yourself - Udmurtia has weakened it's defences so much that the few remaining sober and competent military will be alarmed and certainly don't want to waste more on senseless destruction of a few Ukrainian market towns.

Interesting about the migrant villages and I would encourage you all to move there so you don't have to watch any more Pride parades or put up with 10th generation black Americans using their votes in free elections.

In fact in the 30s many idealistic western commies moved to the USSR - a few were used for propaganda, but a great many ended up shot in the basement Or disappearing into the gulag.

sounds like they are on board

Germany announced today that they would be giving Ukraine a $3 Billion dollar aid package

....we have a new defense minister, after the old one got kicked out due disinterest in the job....that makes a huge difference!

Red Army with nukes in Eastern Germany

....somehow the Cuba crisis springs to mind....

Tacitus

it would not be that expensive

Keeping control over the GDR did cost the SU bns and that was before popular discontent grew to critical levels. Money which it did not have in the end. Far from it, the SU was in desperate need of Western money, which it would have never received without agreeing to German reunification.

Russia freely admits

That is called lying, not "admitting".

There's some interesting speculation coming out of Belarus. If it's true, it's big.

About Lukashenko, who hasn't been seen in public since his recent visit to Moscow and has cancelled official engagements.

Could be something could be nothing.

There are reports that Russia lost two fighter jets and two helicopters today, some of which were possibly shot down by their own men due to their fear of the newly arrived long-range rockets from the UK.

So the first Storm Shadows have been used and used effectively, flattening a supply depot and a command post.

Not going well at all for the orcs.

Are there any reports on how many have been delivered?

Interesting take from someone who knows the region.... Galeev and others have pointed out the same thing...

twitter.com/JuliaDavisNews/status/1657435038185603081/photo/1

putain had no desire to 'rescue' russian speaking Ukrainians... those were the people he wanted to crush. In Ukraine elections worked and protests were commonplace. This mostly happened in russian and putain wants not only domestic media in russia censored but all media in russian anywhere in the world...

That is about 10 times more dangerous to putain than NATO a mere defensive military alliance that was slowly collapsing before he decided to invade Ukraine.

jon357
13 May 2023  #3,619

reports on how many have been delivered

I'm not sure. As far as I know they've still being transported with many more to come.

Good that they've been deployed so quickly and used so effectively.

Crnogorac3

than NATO a mere defensive military alliance that was slowly collapsing

Who is expanding... that one is the aggressor.

nato

Especially those who are expanding into the territory of others. Western geopolitical philosophers themselves described the world as this.

huntington

@mafketis

What exactly isn't clear to you?

Novichok
13 May 2023  #3,621

from who?

From an imaginary enemy that they desperately need to justify NATO and the insane US military budget: 40% of the wold's totall!!!!!!
As a comparison:

The United States - $778 billion
China - $252 billion [estimated]
India - $72.9 billion
Russia - $61.7 billion
United Kingdom - $59.2 billion
Saudi Arabia - $57.5 billion [estimated]
Germany - $52.8 billion
France - $52.7 billion
Japan - $49.1 billion
South Korea - $45.7 billion

For your convenience, I highlighted the relevant data.

Dear children and you maf, to keep spending this kind of dough year after year when the country - I mean the US - is flat broke and running on fumes (a Polish metaphor) requires a really scary boogeyman and a bunch morons who buy this crap. Now, who would be best for the role...hmm ...envelop, pleae - It's Russia!!!

But what do I know...

So, yes, Polish Russia-hating morons, you are right....Russia with its 62 billion is a real threat to the US with 800 billion, the EU with 200, and to the rest of the Universe, Mars included.

One fu*cking trillion vs 60 billion ... That evil Russia...

Memo to my Russian friends:

Quoting history is a wate of time. It's the size of the fist that counts.

Also, overloading on evidence is a deadly sin. Smart prosecutors know it since it means that Exhibit 1 was weak and needed 2 through 10.

The big picture, like that elephant in the living room, is what I wrote above:

One fu*cking trillion vs 60 billion...

Who said what when is pure crap.

Who do you mean, you don't really have any russian friends.

Yes, I do. Friendship, like love, does not have to be mutual.

But it is symptomatic that you picked the least important - almost a throwaway - part of my post but ignored the elephant...

Novichok

To Russia-hating idiots, everything is more important if it can be used as a deflection which is what you just did.

One fu*cking trillion vs 60 billion...

gumishu
13 May 2023  #3,627

The United States - $778 billion
China - $252 billion [estimated]

if you compare United States and China please do compare the size of their respective standing armies (militaries if you insist) and also take into account that the Chinese standing army is mostly conscripts who are getting paid peanuts (as opposed to American fully professional army)

Novichok
13 May 2023  #3,628

if you compare United States and China

Don't deflect. I compared the US plus the EU to Russia..

One fu*cking trillion vs 60 billion...
