No. Instead Zelensky fired every single one of the regional heads for recruitment, because the poor Ukrainians had within a year brought close to a billion dollars in bribes to avoid serving.

First problem: the crooked recruiters didn't kick up.

Second problem: Zelensky's meat quotas were not met.

Ukrainian propaganda is so good, that if there were at least a hundred videos of Russians being manhandled in the streets and stuffed into party wagons it would be all over Twitter and Telegram - day in, day out.

Instead, all they can report (on repeat), is on the traditionally anarchical citizens of St. Petersburg torching a recruitment center.

Meanwhile, there are daily videos from Ukraine about people being forced to enlist.

Fact of the matter is, Putin - unlike Zelensky - has still largely not tapped the conscription pool, but has relied more on volunteers.

Perhaps what accounts for this, is that Russian soldiers get a signing bonus larger than what Ukrainian frontline soldiers make in several months. Maybe, it's that the salaries themselves are higher. Perhaps, it's the welfare benefits and scholarships that Putin has cobbled together for veterans. It could even be, that Russians understand the country is in a struggle for its place under the Sun. Who knows?

BTW: Happy with my diligent sourcing for each fact? I knew you would immediately ask for proof, as is your style, so I thought I might save myself time.

I don't know about now since I wasn't following this stuff lately, but there were plenty of such videos earlier and stories of RuSSian men being mobilised who should never end up in the army. And then Wagner Group recruiting in prisons.


In poorer RuSSian republics/regions going into the military (and the police, apparently) is the only viable career option. I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of (i.e. people are so desperate for money, that they're ready to kill and die for them).

Fortunately they, like the overwhelming majority of orcs sent to the front, were killed in gruesome ways sometimes shot from behind by other orcs. The BBC managed to find 57 conscripts killed. 57! Some poor kids that got nailed by the Ukrainians somewhere in the rear. Maybe even, conscripts that had signed a contract, but we're still formally counted as conscripts.

That's one trick that is used to get around the promise of not using conscripts. Their officers bombard them with offers to enlist as contract soldiers, which allows them to be sent.

Anyway - my point stands. Ukraine is forcing men to the front like cattle, while Putin has not had to resort to this yet.

Cause the last time he did over half a million of the smarter men in the country ran away....
