Turns out people end up fighting more desperate when their only alternative is death anyway.

They will not if you allow them to surrender and live. See Germany vs. France, Norway, Belgium, Denmark,...
With Z-P=0, Ukrainians would surrender even faster.

Miloslaw

Ukrainians would surrender even faster.

I really don't get you Rich....

Do you really not understand that the Ukrainians will never surrender?

And what that will mean to Russian morale and supplies?

Already the Russians are begging for poor, cheap North Korean arms.....

This war will only end in one way....Ukrainian victory and Russian humiliation.

And the end of Putin.

400,000 Ukrainians had a choice and chose Jesus. I am OK with that. I wonder how their wives feel.

Tacitus

Better than the 500k Russian widows who in many cases live in poor, far-off regions and probably do not even know where Ukraine is.

If I posted 500,000, you would say 600,000.

Oh no, how come Ukrainians even try to defend themselves against invasion? They should be aware the invader will retaliate.

He wants Ukraine to act like France in WW2, w*hore themselves to invaders. He'd probably oppose French resistance too.

He wants Ukraine to act like France in WW2

Exactly. You see, my dear hero, before you step in front of an artillery shell you should sit down and make a list of what you will lose and what you will gain. I did that and summarized my analysis in that totally brilliant Z-P=0. If math is not your strong suit, Ukrainians gain zero when that shell hits its intended target but lose one good man.

Why did Poland fold in October 1939? Did Poland run out of people to fight "Nazis" or did it decide that it wouldn't make any sense anymore?

He'd probably oppose French resistance too.

That too if resistance means killing a drunk German in the dead of night.

I will go further. I would form citizens' patrols to protect that German officer on the way to his hotel to make sure that some hot-head moron will not kill him. The reason I would do it is that 1=/=100 - that 100 would be the Frenchmen Germans would execute the next day. Google "Lidice" to see how it works.

Back to Ukraine...My bet is that the dead Ukrainian soldiers didn't know even a small fraction of what we know about NATO, Minsk, and the meeting Z was ready to have with P but the motherfu*ckers in Washington and London would not allow it. Instead, they were told their version of "babies being thrown out of incubators", raped, and used for dog food. Plus some crap about "freedom and democracy", elected legal representatives,...you know the rest...

Tacitus

That analysis used to make you look stupid on day one of this war, and looks worse with each passing day.

What would happen to the ordinary Russian soldier if Putin gave the order to stop fighting and withdraw from Ukraine? He would be able to return to his peaceful, if poor life. What would happen to the Ukrainian soldier if Zelensky surrendered? He would become a Russian PoW, with all the perks that come with that. If he survives, he would return to his family only to possibly find his wife raped and his child deported.

We have seen the worth of Putin and Zelensky in a time of crisis, when their lifes were at stake.
When the Russians marched on Kiev and the city was infiltrated by Russian kill teams, Zelensky decided to stay and lead the defense of his country.

When Wagner marched on Moscow, Putin fled the city and requested the aid of his satrap in convincing Wagner to call of the mutiny. Afterwards he was not even brave enough to deal with the mutineers openly like he initially promises but did so like the coward he is.

Zelensky is fighting for the future of his country. Putin is throwing away the future of his country for his own imperial vanity project. They are not the same.

..."freedom and democracy", said PF bootlicker-in-chief - as opposed to everybody else who is fighting for their past. Where the hell is my barf bag?!

Were you a speech writer for Merkel?

freedom and democracy

That is the difference between someone like you, who lived his entire life in a democracy and thus takes it for granted, and those who did not have this privilege.

If you ever end up talking to an Ukrainian, you'd learn that they are not just fighting for empty slogans. They remember Soviet occupation of Ukraine. They have seen and experienced the images of Bucha and other Russian atrocities. Since many of them speak Russian, they also know how the Russian leadership is talking about them and of their plans.

That is the difference. They know what a Russian victory would mean for them. And they are willing to fight against this ever happening.

You love to fantasize about shooting hypothetical intruders. For Ukrainians, the intruders are not hypothetical.

Lol.

They did a good job occupying themselves, then.

Tacitus
16 Sep 2023  #2054

@Bobko
They had their Quislings to be sure that aided the Soviet Union in the occupation.

Doesn't make a difference in any case. The remember the repression and the Russian agression has destroyed any rose-tinted nostalgia some of them might have had.

Don't give me this crap since I have at least one advantage over you: I lived under that tyrannical "communism" in Poland until I was 24.

Then I moved to the freest country on the globe - the USA, with the best constitution ever written. And guess what...My daily life didn't change one damn bit except that it was my bad right eye that kept me from being sent to Vietnam to fight for their "freedom and democracy" and possibly coming back in a plastic bag or without my arms or legs - if less lucky.

This gives me a right to claim that Z=P. In my case, US > PRL but only because my paycheck was bigger. Today, the US, just like Germany, is a woke basket case and a lawless sh*ithole.

They remember Soviet occupation of Ukraine

Only an dishonest moron would compare Russia today with the USSR in the thirties.

Poles remember Auschwitz and still go to Germany to work. How stupid of them...Auschwitz, Treblinka, ghettos, executions...all ignored and forgotten to the relief of both sides.

But the USSR and Stalin....NEVER! The same with Katyn. One thousand years from now some moron will post about all of this on PF.

They did a good job occupying themselves, then.

Brilliant point, Bobko. PRL was "occupied" the same way - by Polish collaborators. Gladly and with a smile. No, I didn't see any Soviet army in my entire "communist" life from 1945 till 1966.

Tacitus
16 Sep 2023  #2056

with the USSR in the thirties

The USSR from the 50s until its' dissolution was bad enough.

Poles remember Auschwitz and still go to Germany to work.

Probably because Germany has not a leader who called the fall of the Third Reich the "greatest geopolitical catastrophy of the 20th century" and is not waging colonial wars against its' former victims. Not to mention the lengths we go to remember those crimes. We are not downplaying or justifying them like many Russians are doing.

I have at least one advantage over you:

That is not necessarily an advantage. If I asked my grand-parents how life in the Third Reich was, they told me aside from the war it was fine. I am sure you could live in those dictatorships relatively unmolested if you belonged to the right group and kept your head down. If you were unlucky and got between the cogs, then heaven help you. Of course if asked closely, they remember details they'd rather forgotten. No doubt there are things you have forgotten or ignored. The human brain works that way.

Luckily, good Germans took me to the safety of a Hamburg camp and made that impossible. Thank you, my German friends...
Since i was not sure about how many of those "heroes" who once tried to outsmart the Soviets were still alive in 1966, I left Poland with both of my middle fingers in the American greetings configuration. By the time the sun came up, I was free to admire West Germany from the train I was on.

Don`t be stupid. The EU promotes cooperation and friendly relations between countries. PiS is trying to incite anti German phobias which is to great detriment of our country and the EU itself. Putin and his gang are opening champagne seeing it.

It is amaSSing you allow yourself to be infected with anti EU phobia orchestrated by the Kremlin.
