Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 8

Novichok

This shows the genius of NATO

Now, children, Granpa Novi will teach you the meaning of "lopsided"...

Lopsided: when the US takes all the risks for zero benefits.

Also, the meaning and usage of "I don't give a fvck". Here is a good example: I don't give a fvck if Russia takes the Baltics. They had them before and the US managed just fine.

Let me know if you have any questions...

russtards are incapable of holding russia to any standards of behavior....

A throwaway meaningless garbage with bad spelling for extra gravitas.

So the EU Is opening accession negotiations with our friends and neighbors in Ukraine. Moldova too - a reward for patient reforms and commitment to democracy and the free market.

A ton of EU cash on the way to help the Ukies

Orban abstained rather than veto. I don't know if his check from Putler will clear, but as I said yesterday, he has overplayed his hand and can now be sidelined.

He abstained because the EU sent him 10 billion Euro it was holding back. Thats enough to buy an abstention.

Back in the US cess pool of blue haired freaks for one hour and I already miss conservative Poland. Thankfully most of the socialists cant afford sky club membership. Might be in Chicago next month for a few days, cant wait to see how things have gotten there since my last visit.

There is a good Polish place near Wood Dale. I will ask the name of it. I will be there with family. But sure, I am up for it.

Anyone else finding it strange that the EU approves talks with Ukraine and Moldova? When both countries are in dispute with Russia, this strikes me as either very bold or very stupid. Wouldnt the EU be obligated to go to war, with boots on the ground for these countries? Why TF would Poland do that for Moldova? WTF does Moldova bring to the table other than strong organized crime, hookers and decent cheap wine?

jon357

Wouldnt the EU be obligated to go to war

No, it's not a military alliance.

Tacitus
14 Dec 2023  #1065

The EU does have a mutual defense clause.

jon357
14 Dec 2023  #1066

Which is not binding and shouldn't exist.

It is solely an economic body concerning trade between independent countries, not a military alliance or a superstate.

PolAmKrakow
14 Dec 2023  #1067

@jon357
That is non binding, but the US has to be bound to Article 5? Interesting how that works. Wouldnt it be interesting to see what all of the EU would do? The EU is not just an economic body. It is a political body, and military body. They have made it so simply by how they have jointly handled the war. Even the political pressure applied to Germany in the early days shows this is not just an economic block.

jon357

to Article 5

Article 5 is NATO and afreest all members. The EU as an economic organisation does not have that, however much they may overstep their mark. NATO is not the EU and the EU is not NATO.

Should r*SSia attack a NATO member state, who subsequently trigger Article 5, that is a different matter.

Tacitus
14 Dec 2023  #1069

Which is not binding

It is though. It just leaves open the kind of assistance each country is expected to supply. Which also counts for article 5 of NATO btw. Though given the political nature of the EU and the close ties between the countries, if a member state gets invaded the other member states would find it extremely difficult to not react accordingly.

an economic body, or a military alliance or a superstate

Currently a bit of everything, in time hopefully everything. Given that the future of the USA in NATO is highly in doubt, and with it the future of NATO itself, I' d guess the chances of it becoming a full military alliance within the next 10 years is pretty high.

On a side note. Even if you disagree about the Eus future, could you perhaps stop using the nonsensical Brexit talking point of the EU "being purely economical". This is simply not true as a matter of historical fact. The EU from its' inception in the 1950s was always political and intented as such.

has to be bound to Article 5?

Article 5 'binds' member states to take such actions to assist the country who trigger it as they deem necessary.

"The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area"

I' d guess the chances of it becoming a full military alliance within the next 10 years is pretty high

Or pretty low, given the circumstances.

Tacitus

Article 5 'binds' member states to take such actions to assist the country who trigger it as they deem necessary

Which as cynics have pointed out, could also just mean a telegram expressing your sympathies.

Or pretty low, given the circumstances.

A pretty big part will depend on how the USA acts from now on. If they stop their support for Ukraine and or Trump gets elected, then we in Europe might not have another choice.

could

Could. However the balance of probabilities suggests otherwise.

how the USA acts from now

That depends on how far they fall.

If they stop their support for Ukraine and or Trump gets elected

The support for Ukraine will go through (though they've certainly dragged their heels) and should trumpet get elected, one fortunate th8ng about their system is that it's only for 4 years. Plus of course, they're a democracy and the house and senate mitigate the effects of an unpredictable preident.

PolAmKrakow
14 Dec 2023  #1074

That depends on how far they fall.

Or how far they decide to lift their own citizens up. Once again, American citizens come first, this is the same as Polish citizens come first in Poland. The problem is, the US has until now ignored its own people, and instead let radical POS leftist socialists infect young minds. Now, that tide is turning, and the freeloaders around the world will not have the American World Police Force, and they will have to defend themselves. If and when the US wants to help in its terms, it will.

Aid for Ukraine will not go through withoutillegal immigration being addressed. No new money from Congress since August. And once they go on break, the best Ukraine can hope for is a Christmas card, and a note saying we will get back to you mid January.

agree aaa+++. till the globalists and the eu imperilalists will deny it and belittle you.watch now how the edifice falls apart in the next five years. OMFG, I can't have my mexican pool boy cleaning my Cali House? (with benefits)

As u said. the whole point of nation-states. In this case Americans come first.

jon357
14 Dec 2023  #1076

let radical POS leftist socialists infect young minds

A weird statement.

Now, that tide is turning

I don't see a republican landslide; if anything, there was a strong shift to democrat in their presidential election and otherwise there seems to be a 50-50 split.

Hard to know what you mean by 'freeloaders', unless you're referring to Germany's woeful underspending on defence which is in part mitigated by their defence production and sales.

I was pleased to hear about the new generation of fighter jets though, a joint deal between Japan and the U.K., to be produced in the U.K. NATO member states will doubtless be the main customers however if they prove to be as good as expected, their should be worldwide sales.

withoutillegal immigration being addressed

I'm surprised they don't do something about that.

Nevertheless, the funding will go through.

compromise with the repubs about the border.

That's how things work in a parliamentary system. Some of them don't quite get it there though, and that is to their detriment.

Congress went on vacation for 3 weeks. Biden has failed, again. He will never be re elected 80% of the country thinks he doing a horrible job and hates him or thinks he too old. Not to mention he is 100% corrupt!
