....I think lots will depend on the chemistry between Zelensky and Trump. I estimate Trump as a guts-and heart-guy....rather than a coldblooded head-guy! Making decisions after feelings and going with instinct rather than rational "global" reasons. So...if Zelensky is able to bond with Trump he could get his support!

Let me translate...

Trump said he would end our involvement in the war and promised to send Z a "Wish you well" card. Once Z reads it, the war will be over before the sun goes down.

The other way to end this war is by sending a US special ops team to Osama Zhole.

There is no relationship between Trump's campaign rhetoric and what he does in office.

There won't be any drastic turn in US policy... more a slight tweek.

Zelenskyy has shown he understands Trump's need for praise and is willing to do slobber over him to get what he needs while putain wants people to slobber over him (and Trump won't do that).

Frankly, I hope he does....he needs to do it....if he does it right that could save Ukraine!

On the other hand, I agree totally...I don't see Putin "slobbering" Trump....being rather used to be the one "slobbered" by the foreign high and mighty....but something Trump will never do....interesting times ahead! :)

I dont understand the assumption that Ukraine will do whatever some moron like Trump instructs them to do.

These days the US is rarely able to enforce its preferred outcomes. Gaza proves that.

If North Nigeria wants bits of other countries they must be prepared for a long lasting conflict.

The rest of the developed world will support Ukraine while the US fights its own moron v moron battles

What exactly do you want Ukraine to do without American aid?

To resource last year's failed offensive, Europe largely drained its own stocks of weapons. Some countries did it in exchange for American promises to make up for those transfers, by supplying new equipment in the future. Others did it without waiting for assurances regarding replacements.

So much equipment was transferred to Ukraine, that it's military quickly became larger than any NATO army, with the exception of Turkey and the United States.

More tanks than France, Britain, and Germany combined. More artillery systems than exist in all of Europe. More armored combat vehicles than exist on the balance of any European army. More MANPADS, more ATGMS, and so on and so forth. The only area where Ukraine is still behind is aircraft. However, 100+ F-16s have already been committed.

America chipped into the effort through drawdowns on their demobilized stocks, but didn't leave itself bare like many European states did. In fact, when the topic of transferring something to Ukraine from active inventories would come up - America always decided against it.

It will take years for Europe to build back up what they gifted to Ukraine. Without American aid, there is simply not a whole lot Europe can provide in 2025-2027.

Zelensky can ignore Trump, but only for so long. Sooner or later, without sufficient supplies, Ukraine will have to transition to trading men for time (some argue they are already in this state).

I don't understand morons who assume that Trump has to do anything to end this war.
Just like with alcoholism that can be "cured" by doing nothing, this war will end when the US does absolutely nothing...

I thought about that one....for once Ukraine was out of NATO as Russia invaded....so becoming a member of NATO and customer of it's famous Article 5 might be part of a deal for Russia to get to keep the conquered territory....with a new hard, cold border between Russia and the rest of Ukraine in NATO.

Frankly I doubt Russia will get ALL it wants, neither will Ukraine. A peace treaty will be about some wins for Russia but it NEEDS also some reassurance for Ukraine to nod to it, and just a promise or Putin's signature on some piece of paper won't do it, will never do it again!

So...a smaller Ukraine in NATO, that's my end-guess...

You think russians care about dead soldiers? Their own families don't care... beyond getting a payout... it's not a culture that values human life.

Well...that was par of the course for occupied territory....to keep the control and the resistance in check....you can't get the culprits but you can get the innocent civilians to show them all who is boss!
