President Donald Trump said Friday he would "absolutely" impose tariffs on the European Union, which he said had treated the U.S. "terribly."

Thanks to this, Americans will pay more for European products. Isn't this "terrible" treatment of own citizens?

Americans will pay more for European products

Exactly!!! Frogs from France, haggis from Great Britain, reindeer meat from Finland, sauerkraut from Germany, sausage from Poland etc etc.

Novi!!! Your fave frogs in sauerkraut sauce will go up by 50%! Ha!!!

A baboon that hasn't yet come down from the tree is just higher in height, not in the level of decency.

A decent baboon would wear something to cover that disgusting pink ass...

Thanks to this, Americans will pay more for European products.

Or just quit buying them all together.
Then who goes hungry, not the Americans.
My guess is that you Europeans are going to be paying much more for private healthcare and we already know that you would die waiting before getting any free government health care.
Buckle up Buttercups.
By the time you start paying your 5% to NATO there will be no money left for free college and free healthcare.
The gravy train is over as you have known it, thanks to Trump putting his foot down to give the U.S. tax payers some relief from supporting you.

Thanks to this, Americans will pay more for European products

No, they won't.

Euros will swallow the tariffs as an extra expense and we will send those on welfare to make cars in Michigan.

In his first term, Trump slapped tariffs on many products and guess what happened to inflation, little Polish boy...

Nothing! 1.4%!

Learn facts before you you stick your neck out...

What tarifffffsss????

Alien

Euros will swallow the tariffs

I don't know for what? I don't have American cars, I don't buy American food, and I don't really need American clothes or electronics. I don't even drink American alcohol. Learn to produce products that are competitive with others and you will not need any customs tariffs.

Bucha 2.0 is on the way. This time it will be boarding house in Sudzha - everything was prepared well ahead, less than half hour after missiles launch - and professionally processed video was ready and published (with approval of ukrainian general staff).

I don't know for what?

OK, little Polish boy...

When the US slaps tariff X on German cars, X is a tax on German cars payable by Germany to the US Treasury.

From this point on, Germany has two choices: Add X to their cost line or to the price a US importer will pay Germany. Or they can split it...

If X is added to the price, German cars will be less competitive. Not good. That leaves the first choice: Add X to the cost and make less. That's what I mean by eating the tariff as an extra expense.

Tariffs work. If they didn't we wouldn't be talking about them and the foreign companies would remain happily silent...Instead, Canada is pi*ssed off bigly...

Got it?

Ukraine's 'independent' institutions collapse as Trump unplugs the ATM
The freeze on American aid has washed a massive media and NGO hoax up to the surface

A few days ago, newly re-minted US President Donald Trump put the brakes on internal sabotage of his own administration by ordering the State Department to freeze American funding of foreign aid.

Now the short version for the morons with English comprehension problems:

Fvck off. This ATM is closed.

Hey, mancvnt, short enough?

BTW, I could be a very good WH press secretary, I think...

Looks like the continued war is a lot more popular with nafo bots than actual Ukrainians on the ground.

"An explosion at a Ukrainian army recruitment centre in the western city of Rivne killed one person and wounded six, police said. Authorities did not say what caused the explosion at 4.15pm local time on Saturday"

"On Saturday a man with a hunting rifle shot dead a Ukrainian army recruitment soldier and escaped with a conscript before both were caught by police, authorities said"

"Mobilization stories - officers beat a disabled man, leaving him to die"

Russia braces for soldier return: Fear and violence unrest
The Kremlin fears the return of soldiers from the front, which may lead to an escalation of violence within Russia, warns Polish Eastern Studies Institute (OSW) analyst Katarzyna ChawryƂo.
Soldiers degraded by war "completely evade social norms and are demoralized by combat," often suffering from post-traumatic stress, which the state neither wants to address nor aspires to tackle. "Murders and rapes in their places of residence cause fear and paralysis in Russian society," the analyst reminded.
I'm hear to say that Russia is no place for civilized people to be living right now.

Tariffs work

The European Union will automatically impose tariffs on American products, just like last time. No one will win. No, tariffs don't work, at least not the way you expect.

@Alien
The EU cannot survive without the US buying its products. A 25% tariff on anything EU would stop Americans from buying German cars, French wines, vodkas, and a whole host of other items. With Germany's economy tanking, they will be the first to break, and the EU will follow. If a BMW or Mercedes goes up in cost by 25%, General Motors and Ford will be selling a lot more American cars.

The EU, needs the US business in order to pay into NATO. And if they dont pay in, the US will be out. Maybe the EU should stop fvcking with Poland over their stupid standards for everything, and actually start doing things for the people.

So enjoy your American wines (often excellent) and your American cars (not so great) - live your own lives with your own stuff. The EU will definitely survive a few tarriffs and there are the other 97 percent of the world's people to trade with

As for vodka, you can literally make it in your backyard

PolAmKrakow

@cms neuf
California wines can go head to head with the best of the EU, I agree. US cars are pretty good, lots of Teslas in the EU, and I see more cars imported from the US in Poland every day. Cadillac makes great cars, and there are no new tarrifs on Japanese cars, so those will rise in sales. Many of those Japanese brands though are built in factories in the US now.

Lets be real though. These tariffs are targeted on France and Germany more so than the rest of the EU. France and Germany have a favorable trade inbalance with the US. Nothing will bring them to the table faster than to pressure their economies. Any slow down of auto exports from Germany will cause a lot of economic problems. The wine makers lobby in France is very powerful. These are the right areas for Trump to target.

The EU needs to focus on ending the war in Ukraine. If the EU does that and pressures Z into negotiating, then things will return to normal. As it is, the Trump tactic with Z now is to hold elections in Ukraine by the end of the year. Z's term ended last May. Elections are held all over the world in war times. Not having one in Ukraine is simply an excuse to keep power for Z. He would lose any election held now.

The EU, needs the US business

The EU will certainly impose tariffs on American Whisky and American caviar to show that it can do it, but it will also threaten to impose tariffs on the American film industry and social media or other internet companies, pharmaceutical companies or American airplanes. These are hundreds of billions in potential losses for America.

But Putler said he won't negotiate with Zelensky.

What do you expect the EU to do about that ? They have already sanctioned North Nigeria heavily

mafketis
2 Feb 2025  #837

pressures Z into negotiating

Who or what is Z? It was the symbol of the "special military operation" at the beginning and meant to be a point of russian pride?

Then russian shills began using it about Zelenskyy (previously calling him 'Elenskyy' to remove associations of the letter Z) to diffuse the association of the initial failure.

But Putler said he won't negotiate with Zelensky.

Yet somehow Zelenskyy is supposed to be the one blocking peace...

Elections are held all over the world in war times

Do you think that russia won't carry out mass strikes on polling stations? What makes you think russia would stop attacking Ukraine for elections? Seriously.... what on earth makes you think that?

PolAmKrakow
2 Feb 2025  #838

@Alien
And the US wont feel much from EU tariffs. There is not enough imports from the US to make a real impact. The trade deficit for the US to EU is close to 200 billion now. The EU needs the US more.

@cms neuf
Russia will do a deal with a new president. SImple.

cms neuf
2 Feb 2025  #839

But at some point even MAGA morons will realize we are not just talking about wine and cars. US imports from advanced economies will include medicines, machinery, weapons, electronics, specialty chemicals etc - all will be more expensive and delivered slower.

However simply no point in arguing with low information voters about economics

PolAmKrakow
2 Feb 2025  #840

@cms neuf
You really think that the US medicines, machines, weapons and specialty chemicals will be replaced by someone? If they could do it, they would have already done it.
Electronics from the US wont account for much. The EU will continue to buy those things at increased prices, or they will be forced to ramp up their own production of those items. Americans dont care if big pharma takes a hit to their profit margins, or is any of the weapons and machine manufacturers take a hit either. It wont effect the vast majority of Americans.

If the EU loses 200 billion in a trade imbalance with the US, it hurts the EU a lot more than Americans. This has nothing to do with MAGA either. Until the 20th century, the US was funded on tariffs, not taxes. It was the best of times in the US. A return to that seems long over due.
