Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 24

Torq
26 Aug 2025  #841

Ukraine should aim to achieve at least African standards in this regard.

Of course we realise that Ukraine is in a difficult situation. They are in the middle of fighting Russian special military operation (not a war really, as neither side declared war on the other and neither side has conducted proper wartime mobilisation), so they have a lot of problems at the moment. Hence, we don't expect European standards from them. We know and we understand that it would be too much to ask from them.

But African standards? They can at least try.

the President of the Ukrainian Association

Inslent scum. What is that person doing in Poland? I would have thought that those hardcore Ukrainian nationalists with Polish citizenship would have taken the opportunity to move to Ukraine after 1991. Their country, especially now, makes me wonder how many of them are performing their patriotic duty and defending Ukraine in the trenches.

nationalism only hurts Poland.

Polish nationalism did not harm Poland; rather, it was other nationalisms and imperialism that caused the damage.
--
or Poland will veto their entrance to the EU

No, really. If they want, they can join; it is not an organization that Poland will stay for long anyway.
We can get something out of them by pretending we want to veto their accession.
Russia gives us this for a veto. What are you going to give for not vetoing it? It could work if they care to join the EU.

You are being sentimental again, Torq.

Sentymentalny? Not really. Wkurwiony? Indeed.

2035? Before the idiotic electric cars law comes into force.

What about Ukrainian nationalism?

What about it?

Imagine if Germany still worshipped nazis as heroes

Some of them do.

Ukraine isn't two dimensional. There is a great diversity of opinion there and after all, Poland does not lack fascists, even in parliament.

Torq

What about it?

You said Polish nationalism harms Poland. Doesn't Ukrainian nationalism harm Ukraine?

Some of them do.

Small minority of sickf*cks. And you wouldn't be able to eat a dinner in a German restaurant at Eichmann street, right next to a Himmler monument. You are either blind to official worship of UPA/Bandera in Ukraine or trying to diminish the problem on purpose.

It's quite funny how Ukrainians blame Russian propaganda for tensions between Ukraine and Poland while they could easily counter the propaganda by allowing the exhumation of UPA genocide victims and condemning the perpetrators. Somehow, in 34 years, they weren't able to do it. Even in the last 3.5 years, when they received huge support from Poland, they weren't able to rise even to Hutu decency level. So, no - it's not Russian propaganda, it's Ukrainian kurewstwo.

EDIT:

Anyways, this topic is mentally exhausting for me (for personal, family reasons) and I am trying to enjoy the remains of my summer vacation, so I am taking a break from PF.

Doesn't Ukrainian nationalism harm Ukraine?

Who says it doesn't? At least they've no fascists in parliament, unlike your country and mine.

Nationalists are in the minority fortunately and of course in Ukraine there's a big reaction to the years of Soviet and now orc oppression. All things shall pass.

Small minority of sickf*cks.

Loads in the east voted for the neo-Nazi afd.

Time to move on and be more positive. And don't let orc filth propaganda that is intended to rile people up be successful.

You need to check your mental health. Seeing fascists everywhere is a sign of delusion.

Are you suggesting that Europe has no fascists?

Seeing fascists

In your case, all you need is a mirror.

Are you suggesting that Europe has no fascists?

Last time I saw anything resembling it was when German military did a military sermonial march with torches at night.

Otherwise, I haven't seen many people wearing military style clothing while being a civilian. Marked with Fascist armbands, beating up owners of shops they disagree with or group of such people behaving like that toppling governments.

What you think is Fascist seems to be a bit more louse to be able to put more people in that category in an attempt to "demonize" your opponent. It's a very standard tactic used in debates or forums. Most people here probably know that "tactic"

BS. Get the fvck out of Russia and the situation immediately becomes very easy.

Seeing fascists everywhere is a sign of delusion.

Delusion is a temporary condition. Being a leftist "gay" is incurable and, thus, permanent.

Most prefer suits.

What you think is Fascist

Fits a well established definition.

Have you ever read "Doctrine of fascism" by Mussolini? Or you trying to argue about taste of bananas with someone who eaten them? ;)

I suggest you have a problem.

In your case, all you need is a mirror.

Phew, the only flaw in your thinking is the fact that if I were a fascist, I would embrace it and wouldn't deny it. It is annoying to be called a fascist because it is frustrating to be labeled something you are not.

wearing military style clothing

Fascism emphasizes a nation-state where everything revolves around the state. Sacrifices are justified if they serve the interests of the state, and nothing exists outside the state.
I believe in citizen responsibility and rights. In a republic, the state exists for the people, not the people for the state. This is a fundamental difference between my view and that of fascists. You're correct that left-wing radicals and post-Soviet Russia see fascism in all their enemies.
I think it is the best definition on PF or anywhere.
Waiting for an applause lol!

You would, however you'd be wrong as usual.

Most fascists nowadays are honest about their views. You should try that.

Velund

I believe in citizen responsibility and rights.

One more time I will quote this... And now I look at Europe and see this as a prophecy...

"A perfect democracy, a 'warm body' democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction. It depends solely on the wisdom and self-restraint of citizens... which is opposed by the folly and lack of self-restraint of other citizens. What is supposed to happen in a democracy is that each sovereign citizen will always vote in the public interest for the safety and welfare of all. But what does happen is that he votes his own self-interest as he sees it... which for the majority translates as 'Bread and Circuses.'"

"'Bread and Circuses' is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader-the barbarians enter Rome."

A science fiction author.

The reality is that any functioning democracy is an ongoing conversation between competing and related groups, with the rule of law mitigating the tendency of some groups to dominate.

Unbelievable! Russia's Turns Dubno Air Base Into a Multi-Billion Dollar Graveyard!

Simple...Ukraine should have a kindergarten and a hospital at every air base ... right next to the fuel storage facility. It works so well in Gaza.

Russia has been unable to conquer the poorest country in Europe for three years.

America and Europe have been unable to force a defeat on the second poorest country in Europe.

See how that works?

When you don't mention population, size, or resources?

In this same fashion - one could argue that Russia
Is easily able to annihilate the richest country in Europe. Liechtenstein.

Probably we could take care of Luxembourg, Andorra, and San Marino as well. Hell - I think we have a chance against even Monaco!

How many tanks and how many divisions does Monaco have?

The Pope - how many cruise missiles has he? How many fighter jets?

NATO members intend to spend another $50 billion on military aid for Ukraine and match its contributions from last year, a senior official has told Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper.

That's the easy part...You can print money until you run out of ink...

Printing new Ukrainians will be a lot harder - even if men can get pregnant...

Monthly Interest Cost (July 2025): $23.83 billion on public issues alone.

The USA is bankrupt. It has to pay 24 billion a month just in interest. Interest = money gone for absolutely nothing. Why is Trump allowed to spend even one more dollar?

Bobko
27 Aug 2025  #866

Interest = money gone for absolutely nothing.

Haha.

So you don't think you owe anything, to the people that provided you with a loan?

The US public debt structure, is:

1) Foreign entities hold roughly 31%.

2) Domestic investors (private and public) hold about 54%.

3) The Federal Reserve holds around 15%.

So out of $24B, $7.4B goes to foreigners. $13B goes to American persons and institutions, and $3.6B goes to the Fed.

Meaning 69% of those interest payments stay in the country.

-//-

In any case, your numbers are wrong.

The US actually pays approximately $85 billion a month in interest payments alone. Last year it was around $70B a month.

My point - it's not for "absolutely nothing". A large chunk of it goes into the pockets of American teachers, bus drivers, soldiers, and other average people that pool their savings into pension funds, or what have you.

Ron2
27 Aug 2025  #867

One F-35 jet costs about 100 million dollars. The US could buy 240 jets every month for what they have to pay in interests. Imagine 240 jets a month for Ukraine? They would defeat Russia in a few months. Instead, the US has to steal money from American companies through tariffs just to pay the private banks their interest share.

Whenever Trump says they got X dollars from tariffs, you must deduct 24 billions per month from that and see if a dollar is left.

Instead, the US has to steal money from American companies through tariffs just to pay the private banks their interest share.

Who do you think owns America's private banks? Martians?

JP Morgan - the largest bank in America, by a wide margin - is largely owned by pension funds and index funds. Fidelity, Blackrock, State Street and Vanguard own the largest chunk of shares.

Other large American banks have the same ownership structure.

These are not "fat cat" hedge funders or private equity "masters of the universe", but boring funds that make investing accessible to average Americans while earning tiny fees in the process.

Again - this is the money of American retirees.

Calculating everything in F-35s is very fun of course... Certainly more fun than counting Social Security checks, Medicaid and Medicare bills, or repairs to federal highways and bridges - which is more than 3/4's of what this debt is used to pay for.

Ron2
27 Aug 2025  #870

Again, the bottom line is that America is bankrupt. Trump said he would end the war within 24 hours, but who takes a bankrupt thug and his empty threats seriously? Apparently not Russia. The EU starts waking up too.
