That's from Al-Jazeera, is nothing new to anybody here and nobody has issued a 'deadline'. The historical aspects are not an impediment to EU enlargement. It would, by the way, lead to a very detailed examination of and publicity about both Polish and Ukrainian history which would not of course be from either the Polish or Ukrainian points of view. Their voices wouldn't be the ones listened to.

Of course there are some in PL terrified of UA joining. the EU. So far, it's been a kind of 'Slavic Tiger'. Ulkraine which (in the major cities, anyway) looks and feels very developed, would take that mantle.

Shame he hasn't asked his boss's boss in Moscow to stop their orcs firing ballistic missiles at apartment blocks.

Especially now when Ukraine, among other things, is building logistics infrastructure with the intention of taking over the Asia-EU trade routes and becoming the gate for Asian goods entering Europe by bypassing Poland. Add to this their open declarations that after the war they see Poland as their economic and political rivals, and their constant glorifying of genocidal UPA animals... hmm...

Russia has neither the intention of nor capability to conquer Poland. Also, what would be the purpose? Ukraine gives them heavy industry, the best farming lands in the world and strategic depth. What would Poland give them? Lifetime supply of holy water and constant source of problems, unrest and uprisings? Nonsensical.

Jonno is right is his cynicism, I'm afraid. Poland wants Ukrainian immigrants to stay here - they are the best kind: culturally similar, quickly assimilating, contributing around 3% of our GDP, and paying around 20 billion pln in taxes (much more than they receive in social help). If Ukraine wins and becomes the next Slavic Tiger, those people might want to go back there. If Russia conquers them, they will stay here. Also, other factors that Jon seems to imply, although it's cruel, also point to Ukraine losing the war as not being the worst scenario for Poland.

I would tend to think that after the war Ukraine and Poland might find a lot of areas to complement each other's economies and cooperate, but who knows - Jon knows Ukrainians better - maybe they would indeed try to "replace" Poland in many areas instead of peacefully cooperating with us. Fair play to Jon357 for pointing this out to us.

I never thought you hate Ukrainians, I always thought your driving force is hatred of Poles, and Ukrainians were just collateral damage because they were aligned with Poland.

The Polish problem has very often been people like you, Kurvinus - people who hate Russia more than they love Poland.

Russia has had this intention many times and has often succeeded.

They're ideally placed to do this, and have good infrastructure, a skilled population and are well ahead of where PL was even a decade after EU entry.

Don't be daft. Poland will survive; it has roads through it and is next to Germany. And Ukraine will need guest workers.

But it's a bit confusing - do they think Poles are divided into people who love Ukraine and people who require a PR campaign to be told why they should love it, or do they want to target those already Ukrainian-friendly to make them even more Ukrainian friendly?

Also, in March 2022, 94% of Poles supported Ukraine. Now we're apparently down to 'the remaining Ukrainian-friendly half of the Polish population'. Whatever went wrong there?
