....I always wondered when would be the best time to stop them, actually. As the true veterans die out....even the Sovietunion didn't survive....I never would had thought it would be another war ending it, but then what else would. Imagine our countries parading victories from centuries back....yeah, I wonder about such stuff! I'm strange that way...:)

Parades in Russia is a must, as long as Russia there is a military parade. Soldiers do not matter for them, they are pretext to show off. Victory, military might, political gain...

Not necessarily....I grew up in the GDR....we Ossi's officially never were defeated but liberated by our brothers and comrades, you know....we had our own victory parades!

As a Wessi you were bound to see it differently, I guess.....that never was a topic of discussion though....that left me wondering:)

You don't understand Iron, our enemies....the "bad" Germans....the Nazis....old and new....were all in West-Germany...the Soviets were our friends, our saviours, our rescuers....I could guess that kind of historical schizophrenia was ruling the whole eastern bloc....or how else did Moscow keep the peace between the once-mortal-enemies-with-a-mighty-chip-on-their-shoulder+wish-for-revenge?

Poland certainly has potential, but for that it probably needs a different government. One that is willing to broker compromises and work with others, even make sacrifices to see them fet through.

Being infuential in Europe is more than military might, that is something Russia never understood.

....not to mention that to be an accepted leader you have to pay alot more into the common pot....do alot more to support others! *shrugs*

WTF is going on here?? I didn't realise that Donald Tusk was Islamophobic... or is this some kind of psy-op to confuse PiS.

It was exactly the same in Poland with the difference that the GDR was the good Germany.

Did the Poles buy into it? Did they really accept a difference between the Germans growing up? I wondered about that one also....my experience is that a state education/manipulation has its limits!

In order for this not to happen, West Germany issued several thousand visas for Poles every day and, moreover, no visa was needed to enter West Berlin. West Berlin was an Open City for everyone. This policy resulted in Poles learning the difference between East and West Germany.

Even for East Berliners, except that your government actually forbade departures from the GDR to the west.

What are you talking about....I'm a born and raised East-Berliner, the wall was near and real! The only allowed places to visit had been other eastern bloc countries, even Hungary was difficult, with its nearly-western status.

You do understand I try to recall my impression from the past. Right know I don't really know or care , l am only flying over that part of Europe now and then.

West German commies transformed into greens, a terrorist organisation. Core of their belief systems we love humanity and plants but hate people.

Not much change here.....western lefties loved the GDR and are still angry with us Ossis for tearing down that wall....they never had to live in it!

LGBT flag on every building will help enormously. Plus a mosque in every town and village...My dream Poland...

Tusk should organize a referendum.

Maybe Poles will vote for more Muslims in Poland just as the Brits voted in their referendum to ask the British government for more Muslims in the UK.

Referendum or not, your dream Poland will become a reality sooner than you think. But on the bright side, Islam is a very effective recruitment tool for the RCC, so perhaps PiS should change tactics and leave the Islamophobic rhetoric to Donald Tusk.
