Julian Assange is free

I have no problem with most of what he did.... I have a problem with what he didn't do (like release information that could make russia look bad).

A russian asset (whether or not he was aware of that).

A russian asset

Basically yes.

Another problem is that he jumped bail.

Anyway, he's done 5 years and we're well rid of him. Let the Aussies deal with that psycho.

I just wish people wouldn't describe him as a journalist

We know. It was in all the newspapers.

Sorry, I don't read bias lying Liberal newspapers anymore.
I have a problem with what he didn't do

He was a very intelligent and articulate man.
Very well spoken.
He will go down in history as one of the all-time top journalists for exposing what he did.

A psycho in the opinion of a gay who thinks that babies are made by fvcking another guy's ass is a compliment.

Do you ever think about anything else?

All media in Poland joined in with panicky comments after the far right won the elections in France.

There is one exception, though. One outlet correctly guessed Macron`s strategy. He deliberately allows the far right to start their rule now coz they will have enough time to make fools of themselves before the presidential elections in 2027. Then, Macron`s nominee will run for the post to compete against Le Pen.

If you believe that than you are as stupid as Donald Tusk, your hero.

If you believe

Yes, I believe that and also I believe you are living a good life in your sewer of London. hahahaha

BTW, have you ever watched that French comedy named the Rats of Paris??? I watched it in late 1970s. Did you have TV in the sewer at the time??

media in Poland joined in with panicky comments

"Catastrophe". "The end of the EU". "Fascists are taking over Paris" - these are the comments I read and hear in Poland after yesterday's French elections and I don't understand them at all. Yes, Marine Le Pen's National Rally is an anti-European, anti-Ukrainian, anti-liberal and pro-Russian party, but despair after the fall of French democracy is very premature.

but despair after the fall of French democracy is very premature.

I think you are wrong. This does mean the end of the EU as we know it now.

It's not just France but Germany is swinging to the right as well,NL may go there too, and Italy and Hungary have already gone there.

This does not bode well for the EU, it may not dissolve but it will change dramatically.

This does not bode well for the EU

Why? What's wrong with Europe moving to the right?

TheOther
2 Jul 2024  #1124

That's like asking what's wrong with Hitler?

Novichok
2 Jul 2024  #1125

No, it's not the same, moron. If it was the same, "rightists" in Europe would be in prison.

What an imbecile...

The end of the EU". "Fascists are taking over Paris

It's a risk, however I'd wait until after the elections are finished before looking at the situation.

And there's likely to be very good news on Friday morning, also from north west Europe.

It's a risk,

It is a chance as the current leadership doesn't work in Poland's favor.
I'd wait until after the elections are finished before looking at the situation.

Same here. I don't understand Polish news outlets asking politicians to speculate on what-ifs. There are enough today problems to be concerned about without this sidetracking, geez.

jon357

It is a chance

A 'chance' for disaster. Fascists are rarely pro-Polish.

There are enough today problems to be concerned about without this sidetracking

This is true.

Fascists are rarely pro-Polish.

Hopefully, they are not pro-EU.

But sometimes they are?...Tell us, genius, when "fascists" were pro-Polish.

Hopefully, they are not pro-EU.

Most people in PL certainly are, however larger economies don't need it as much. The UK is doing nicely outside. Having our own oil helps.

UK is doing nicely outside

Inside did even better.

jon357
3 Jul 2024  #1133

It wasn't better, though I was personally happy with the status quo. If we go back, there will need to be both a better deal and changes within the EU structure; basically reaffirming the nation state and an end to certain countries' delusions of federalism, any regulations preventing nationalisation and ideas about a military policy.

Nobody has noticed any difference since leaving.

People doing import/export paperwork mostly. That and students not being able to do Erasmus, and people having difficulties working. That's a relatively small number. And all of the preceding points are to do with the Tories messing it up. The referendum was to leave the EU not the single market; Switzerland and Norway are both outside the EU yet have a good situation.

We're going to sort that though, and the first steps are tomorrow when we kick the Tories out for the next 15 or 20 years. We will certainly move closer to them once the vindictive Macron is gone, and we will be in a better position in relation to Brussels than either Norway or Switzerland.

The Tories have degraded the kingdom. Is Winston Churchill's party in danger of collapse?
The Conservative Party is expecting its biggest defeat in its nearly 200-year history on Thursday. It is a bill for its 14 years in power.

Even Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is not certain of winning the seat for Richmond & Northallerton in the north of England. An Ipsos poll gives him just 4 points ahead of Lord Binface, played by comedian Jonathan David Harvey. The prime minister's rival has a strong agenda: an end to rustling theatre snacks, compulsory military service for former prime ministers, the admission of all EU countries to the UK in revenge for Brexit and the construction of at least one social housing unit if the state can't do more.

You better hope not or the U.K. will be in for a nightmare of non other.
The next few years won't merely be "a little bit worse", as many delusional voters of a centre-Right persuasion have convinced themselves.
The imminent Labour ascendancy will be truly calamitous.
Every conservative nightmare will come true, and more besides.
The Left-wing stormtroopers who are about to seize the keys to No 10 will enjoy almost unimaginable power and will be far more competent at wielding it to annihilate their enemies than the Tories ever were.
And remember that you voted for it, jon.

We will certainly move closer to them once the vindictive Macron is gone,

What? and Le Pen's party is in control?Dream on!Europe is swinging to the right and Labour will have few friends in the EU.

The imminent Labour ascendancy will be truly calamitous.

For once,I agree with you Jim.

Pawian, I have lived under Labour in the UK and I know they will be much, much worse than the Conservatives.

On friday I will be welcoming you all to visit the UKSSR.......Brits are so angry at Tory rule for the last 14 years that they are prepared to elect Labour.....
Like turkey's voting for Christmas or Thanksgiving....... pathetic.....

I am deeply ashamed of the British electorate.
