Patrolling to arrest will never work. They want to be arrested, fed, treated, and to apply for "asylum". The only solution is a wall with motion detectors and machine gun towers that are triggered into action automatically aiming at any anything at the top of the wall. Plus, of course, the signs in Spanish: you climb you die. It would work like magic after the first ten dead.

This would avoid any border disputes with Mexico and relieve the US Border patrol guys from developing PTSD.

If Trump were to give a "shoot to kill" order, the problem would instantly stop, probably with minimal casualties.
