I live in Canada and am familiar with it's death care system. You must look at the comparison between "private" and "public" health care in greyscale, not in black and white, to gain a thorough understanding of the differences and benefits to each. Universal Health care is not the panacea you think it is. That belief could kill you, literally.

As far as I know, the main difference between continental Europe, where the health care system is oftentimes a mix of both public and private services, and Canada is, that you guys have no national health care, but a bunch of rather inefficient provincial systems. Correct? Germany and France for example are totally different in that respect.
