From what you say I presume you are mentioning the Key as a sort of accusation of Stowe. I am afraid you didn`t read your sources carefully enough because the Key is a defence of Stowe!

Whatever Colin Powell says in an emotive quote that is obviously not the case - just ask any Native American tribe who encountered the US after 1777. In addition the US built an empire that included the Phillipines, Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawiaii and a whole bunch of other islands bought or stolen, many of which are still US territories. You could also say that Texas was taken by force.

How about before 1777 ?
The Euro's tried to take the lands from the Indians first until they themselves were defeated by the Yanks and sent back home.
