Sellers are trying to surpass one another in the notion of how to sell you something unnecessary under the slogan "three for the price of two", although you probably do not _really_ need any one of the offered items at all. But banksters should get their interest, and politicians should report on the growth in jobs and positive trends in economics (i.e. consumption growth).
For example, the average wardrobe of an American woman has more than 100 items. Over 80 years of her life, she will spend at least $ 125 thousand on "trinkets", buying more than 3 thousand items of clothing, 145 handbags, 185 dresses and more than 270 pairs of shoes. 145 bags! Why so much? Why is it necessary to waste resources, energy and create jobs for the production of 145 handbags per female soul? Those Americans who are now under 25 will spend 200 thousand dollars on "trinkets" for life.
An average American child today has at least 70 items of toys, and while he grows up, parents will spend up to 6.5 thousand dollars on toys. At the same time, psychologists have established: the more toys a child has, the more problems with mental development. This is a direct path either to debilitation or to a child psychologist with a view to solving the problem of increased excitability and inability to concentrate on anything. Parents buy all sorts of rubbish for children to keep them behind. After a few days, all this turns into trash and soon ends up in the trash.
At the same time, the joke about a "smart boy from such a poor Jewish family that if he were born as a girl, he would have absolutely nothing to play" starting to shine with new colors. ;)
Earth resources are not enough to provide everyone with an American way of life. However, many peoples are drawn to it, not seeing an alternative. In any modern metropolis, 98% (!!!!) of the volume of products received there in different forms is already in the trash six months later. The modern economy is work on the replenishment of landfills and the loading of waste incineration plants. A weak consolation for the Russians may be that the average American produces 940 kg of household waste per year, while the Russian citizen produces only about 400 kg. At the same time, globally, people annually dump 1.3 billion tons, or about a third of the food produced in the trash. In obese America, the rate is 40%. In the world where hunger is a quite common problem, 30% of produced food is trashed (yes, I understand that it is bad idea to simply feed everyone in Sub-Saharan Africa, because first thing they will do afrer a free lunch is fcuk to make more free lunch consumers).
Residents of developing countries want and will consume more. At the same time, primary resource extraction will not grow at the same pace. More and more countries are beginning to realize that it will be the robbery of their own descendants to extract and give away irreplaceable resources just for cut paper or zeros in computer. But even for the "money" received for resources that is already sold, not everything can be received in return - the list of restrictions, embargoes, sanctions and other things like that is very long.
So the Americans will have to prepare to reduce consumption. It is unavoidable. And, please, do not give examples of excessive consumption as an example of excellence - it is life in debt, and not only in cash form. And growing trillions of American debt confirm that United States cannot really afford current level of spending.
