USA News and Poland - Part 4

American made goods are considered luxury imports because of the crazy VAT tax. A Jeep costs nearly double in Poland than what it does in the US. There's far more high end German cars than American ones because they cost even more. It's the same thing with other American products like iPhones or American Heinz Ketchup, Kraft singles, etc. It's no different in other countries - you go to Japan and you won't find any Fords or Dodges or Chryslers. I remember reading an article a while back that something like only 20 Jeeps were sold in Japan in a year.

Trump was the only US politician that openly spoke about this and wanted to change the system. Everyone else just accepts it as "it is what it is." Other countries dump their cheap products here with basically no import duties or taxes while they hike up the price of American exports 25% even into the triple digits in some cases.

It's no wonder they are so bitter and hate America to the point they cheer when one of the best presidents our country has ever had to Keep America Great has his election stolen from him by the Marxists.

It's almost like they are jealous of Americans freedoms.
Hey Rich, I'm selling my white privilege card.
It's 60 plus years old but is in mint condition.
It has never been used, not even one time.
Reason for selling is that it hasn't done a damn thing for me !
No free college, no free food, no free housing, no free anything, I actually had to go to work every day of my life while paying a boatload of taxes to carry those who chose not to work.

If you are interested, I prefer cash but would be willing to do an even trade for a Race Card which seems much more widely accepted and comes with countless benefits, if you fit the profile.

Contact me on my Non-obozo cell phone that I pay for every month...
Serious buyers only !

You just gave me a great idea for my next credit/debit card logo... I wonder how that'll sit with the diversity crowd at Chase...

...because it was never used?

I have a French gun and a copy of the UK Constitution for you. Will that be a fair trade? If not, I will add a pound of leftist PF stupidity for free. It smells like s**t, so I am not sure if it can be Fedexed.

American cars are pretty shabby these days.
They made great cars till the oil crisis happened.

For various reasons I sometimes used to go to school in a 70s American gas guzzler. The colour was sort of two-tone Reagan melanoma brown. It was actually really shoddy and cheap looking inside however I loved the way it used to bounce. And it was cool to arrive at the school gates in.

Suspension on those old American cars was all about comfort and that made for cars that were great in a straight line but handled like pigs.

Having said that, many of their engines sounded like heaven.... I like the sound of old British motorbikes and British Rover V8 and Jaguar engines.

But they don't compare to the sound of a Harley Davidson or an American V8 engine.....

I drove one and the steering was like cotton wool.

and British Rover V8 and Jaguar engines.

My friend for decades has only driven late 50s/early 60s Rovers that smell of leather. You have to double declutch (which I can't).

I drove a few too, I was in the motor trade for many years and drove many cars.
Their handling was rubbish.
But I liked the look and sound of the older American cars.
They were big, loud and proud!

Lovely some of them.

The only car I've seen recently and wanted to own was in West Africa. it was an old Peugot limo that had the president in. It looked late 60s or early 70s and was high on style.

It looked like a bigger version of an NSU Ro80 that I always admired when I was a kid and there were a few (very few) in my town.

@jon357

Peugeot were big in Africa because of their success in African rallies.

jon357
9 Feb 2021  #1874

Peugeot

This was a country the P-D rally went through however I suspect the car was a gift/bribe from France sometime after independence. I used to have to go to their centarl bank sometimes and in a courtyard in the middle they had the boss's limo. It was a type I've never seen before with Chinese characters on the back, probably a gift/bribe too.

AFAIK the president used that old Peugot for ceremonial stuff since I lived very close and only ever saw it a couple of times. Usually he used a military landcruiser (or did when he was last shot at).

Miloslaw
9 Feb 2021  #1875

probably a gift/bribe too

That is how things work in many countries, especially on the continent of Africa.

jon357
9 Feb 2021  #1876

specially on the continent of Africa.

Very much so, and I'll try to go back on topic (I'd thought the car discussion was in random)

America is really trying to keep a 'hearts and minds' hold there. They've got their drone base in Chad, they've got their secret but not so secret (they aren't supposed to be there but are) bases in other parts of West Africa, they've just built a massive embassy, truly massive (could self-sustain for years) in the nearest part of Africa to America, probably as a contingency bolt hole if geopolitics gets really bad, however it's China who are winning.

When I went there most of the bigger roads in the capital of the place I was were unmade. When I left two and a half years later many of them were shoddy tarmac built by the Chinese. Lots of public works paid for and done by them. China is winning there and I got the feeling that America (and everybody else) doesn't know what to do.

There are discreet (and unmarked) Chinese hotels and even Chinese brothels, for Chinese workers since the crudely written signs were in that language.

It's partly about the rare earth metals there, but not only.

@jon357

China has been taking control of Africa and many other parts of the world for years and we need to all wake up to the threat.

But as you say, we are off topic and better move on.

Africa and many other parts of the world for years

The scale and speed of their activities in Africa is shocking and recent. When I was there (until 18 months ago) the change was really visible; week on week there was something new.

Can America be a bulwark against it? Probably not. The best they can do is try to look after number one at home, and there's a clear limit to how well they can do that, especially since China has massive reserves in dollars and makes everything.

It'll be a big thing in US news for years.

Yes, the Americans are clearly taking an active role in the development of civil society of Poland.

I am glad, side by side with Serbia.

If it's up to me I would initiate the Two Seas initiative. After all, we also have our interests in the region.

and we need to all wake up to the threat

Good suggestion. Stop collaborating with the Islamic league and Nazis. Trump nicely started by removing that Iranian madman Soleimani who with previous USA administrations had a deal in Bosnia. Now you have Biden. Nice awakening. Still, we would try to cooperate with him.

Poles care less about Scabia than Americans do. There isnt any "side by side" its all made up in your thick head.

You know nothing about the situation in Poland. You must be Paki provoker and plus live under Biden. We are very popular in Poland. And Polonia, too.

Joker's right. Even though he thinks I'm anti-American because I prefer the America of Rosa Parks, Gore Vidal, Mark Twain. the Roosevelts, Barack Obama and John Waters to the America of Andrew Breitbart, Timothy McVeigh, Joseph McCarthy, Rosanne Barr and Anita Bryant, I'll admit happily that he's right about Serbia.

People just don't think about the place.

For people there, the most famous modern (forget Tesla for now) Serbian-Americans are Blagojevich and Divine. And Divine is more famous than Blagojevichc. Your most famous hyphen there is mot famous for eating dog faeces.

Andrew Breitbart, Timothy McVeigh, Joseph McCarthy, Rosanne Barr and Anita Bryant, I'll admit happily that he's right about Serbia.

I dont like like any of these ppl either Jon. The ones on your ok list are fine with me as well, except Obama. I wish we could return to a time before Bush, its seems like everyone was capable getting along with one another back then. I even voted for Bill Clinton and was a long time democrat like most Chicagoans.

I was willing to give Xiden a chance but he lied about all this unity rubbish as they continue with an unconstitutional impeachment, governing by executive fiat and ramming this enormous Covid bill @ 1.9 Trillion thru Congress. Not to mention the pipeline, the border, hes already a disaster!

People just don't think about the place.

Nobody ever mentions Scabia. They barely mentioned it when NATO was bombing Yugoslavia back in the 90`s. Most American couldn't find it on a map. Crow is totally delusional and annoying!

its seems like everyone was capable getting along with one another back then.

Because their fathers were Vet's that saw the horrors of War and just wanted to live in peace.
They had been trained to take orders and raised their kids with what they had been taught.
They had lived all the drama that they ever deserved to in a persons lifetime.
They raised their children to have respect and manners for authority or face corporal punishment.
The bullies eventually got knocked on their ass without anyone getting sued or going to jail and learned to mind their own business.
Then the Progressive Marxist were strategically place in our schools and courtrooms to destroy what was working so well.
They created, Safe Rooms, Participation trophies, Don' ever touch a gun they are bad, touching another mans pud is o.k thoughl, no spanking a child, don't hurt their feelings as it will break their Will and all the rest of the Politically Correct Bullsh*t.

And what amazes me is that these dumbed down Liberals refuse to admit that their way doesn't seem to be working so well.
Just look at the mess we have now.
If dumb could fly, the Progressive Liberals would all be jets.

It will be ok after the country sees what a disaster Xiden creates ( It has already started)

His ruling by executive fiat will be his downfall... He called Trump a dictator for doing it and after he gets elected does the exact same thing he was complaining about, but at a grandiose scale, what a hypocrite!

Thank you guys.
It is nothing more than common sense.
I truely feel sorry for the parents today.
The liberal courts have become the third and most powerful parent in the family.
They dictate how you will raise your children.
Attorneys and the feminist movement encourage divorce to split the family.
The kids are becoming anti social and mannerless with their electronics.
Big brother watches our every move to the point we no longer have any privacy.
New 'money making laws' for the system are being made every day to bankrupt us.
I can't wait until we are all broke and they have to start feeding off themselves.
People seem to have forgotten that we are a democracy.
Remember the words of Abraham Lincoln to honor the soldiers that sacrificed their lives in order "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth" were spoken at Gettysburg, but these words apply as well to the countless soldiers that died for the cause of democracy in the following 150 years.

Democracy has become such an unchallengeable concept that even the harshest dictatorships, such as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, call themselves a democracy.

But what is democracy ?

Was it democracy to give the British people the opportunity to vote about membership of the European Union after providing them with contradictory information about the consequences of leaving ?

The virus finally confirmed that it has come down to every man for himself in this day and age.
My favorite quote is one of John Wayne's, "Life is hard, it's even harder when you're stupid" !
