American made goods are considered luxury imports because of the crazy VAT tax. A Jeep costs nearly double in Poland than what it does in the US. There's far more high end German cars than American ones because they cost even more. It's the same thing with other American products like iPhones or American Heinz Ketchup, Kraft singles, etc. It's no different in other countries - you go to Japan and you won't find any Fords or Dodges or Chryslers. I remember reading an article a while back that something like only 20 Jeeps were sold in Japan in a year.
Trump was the only US politician that openly spoke about this and wanted to change the system. Everyone else just accepts it as "it is what it is." Other countries dump their cheap products here with basically no import duties or taxes while they hike up the price of American exports 25% even into the triple digits in some cases.
