There's less and less Polish people left around those areas though. When I was still living around there a tons of Mexicans were moving in.


Pita Inn is not low fat... but that place is good for a lunch once in a while. I personally prefer Grecian Kitchen that's like right next door - Greek style pork chops and potatoes mmmmmmm


Yeah same, we go to either Montrose Deli (the one in the north suburbs) and sometimes KD, Deli 4 You, etc.

Compared to Polish food everything is low-fat.

There is no fu*cking decent Polish restaurant here in Nj that I know and wife aint a good cook either as she always ran a business in her whole life.

Yeah there's a lot of Poles around that area still especially Norridge. The Polish community has totally changed since even the early 2000's. Chicago has become a real **** hole so as Poles saved up they began moving to the suburbs, a lot to other states especially Wisconsin and Indiana, some even to Atlanta, Florida, California, etc. and a good chunk moved back to Poland which is what we're planning on. You use to go to any store on the north side and chances are you'd hear people speaking Polish. Not so much anymore. I like Norridge though. If I were going to move back closer to the city that's where I'd buy/rent a place.

We use to live in Harwood Heights when I was in like the latter years of grade school about to start high school. Our house was the one right next to Scores bar (use to be called Sidelines). Even then the crowd there went to ****. Before it was like older guys coming in for a beer to watch a game or something. But then for some reason it attracted a lot of Latino gang members especially from around Cicero. I remember watching out the window into the parking lot when like 3-4 dudes beat the crap out of a girl, threw her in the back seat of a car and sped off. It was really messed up. It freaked my mom out and we moved out of there.

I am OK with that. I didn't come here to be back in Poland.

I remember this place from years ago. There was a Polish bar with hot looking bartenders and next door was this wannabe biker gangbanger bar with a bunch of 21 year old punks inside. I went in these once or twice, but really didnt like that place. I used to go to this little neighborhood bar " Omalleys", its used to be called "Cheers" on Belmont/Harlem. Another place was Ralphs on Higgins, but closed down years ago. How about Teasers? All the sluts from the hood would be there every night! lol

Yeah I went to Scores once years later after I turned 21 and I didn't find it anything special. I like going to Krokodil on Belmont for food/pre-game and sometimes UN which I think is now called Pure. The other places I've never been to. I went to Martini Club a few times because I know the owner but that place isn't anything special. I think it closed down though. Not the best location for a club... I think even if it was on Belmont or the suburbs it would've done better

I remember that place was such a big deal when it opened, then the greedy bastards actually sawed the tops of the glasses down to save money..lol


Back in the Polonia days it probably was, like around when our parents were younger. There are still some old timers that refuse to leave, mostly turning Spanish now.


I trust Mexicans more than blacks.. I know a lot of Mexicans and most of them are religious , not like Johnny, but honest and hard working.

They actually contribute more to society than lazy blacks that wont work even when offered a job, Mexicans will never say no.

As a European I found this thread about Chicago restaurants and bars really interesting.
It is a shame that it descended into $hit.....

Actually, the Polish restaurants are mostly very nice in the Suburbs. Its a good thing Poles were able to make and save money over the years and could now afford to move to the affluent suburbs, away from all the black crime and latino gangs. Life is much nicer in the burbs, it costs more to live but well worth it. I see more and more Polish stores opening up around my area:)

For now anyway...Everyone is hoping thier town doesnt get secretly picked by Xiden to dump invaders all over the community. And you pay for it buddy!
