I asked several bankers here and nobody can connect these dots. If anything, they admit that the prices will go up and that the consumers - most of them using cc - will get fu*cked even more, if they are lucky to keep their jobs. Steve Forbes wrote that it's insane and that the Fed doesn't have clue what to do.

The theory is that by increasing rates, people will stop spending so much using existing credit lines, and at the same time it will make it harder to barrow money which will effect the housing market the most. As we all know this is theory.

Personally I do not believe in theory. Inflation, in my opinion has proven time and again that it simply needs to run its course. Because economies can not hold up credit forever as it kills consumerism which is what drives every market, particularly the stock market. High rates short term can stabilize some currencies short term, but not long term. Poland is an example of this today, nothing the head of Poland banks has done will stop the currency from being devalued.

What needs to happen is you let it go after a few interest rate hikes to slow it. Then when people realize the $hit really hit, they will regain some self control temporarily and inflation will slowly decline with reduced demand.

The thing about inflation is that it only effects pricing and never profits.

Suppressing consumption works if it's discretionary. People need to eat and go to work so they are suffering because they can't afford food and gas, not houses, boats, and planes. My conclusion is that the bastards in DC know it but have to show that they are "doing something" - the rates being the only knob they can turn quickly before November.

Actually, inflation controls should be different from country to country IMO. In US, people are lazy, I lived there most of my life so I know. Why not use public transport, or walk? Saves money and more healthy, as well as better for the environment. Because in the US we dont want to give up our cars as much as we dont want to give up our guns. Public transport would save on gas. Less gas usage cuts drives prices down on fuel, which drives prices down on moving goods by truck. Over simplification yes I know.

In Poland for example, they should let the currency go to 6 to 1 on the dollar and be begging US companies to invest in infrastructure and hiring. As inflation gradually slows, more people are making higher wages, and boom, you have a real middle class and a whole new tax base for the social programs. But Poland cant think that far ahead or that creatively.

US is F'd with current leadership. I dont mean Biden either. Hes an idiot, but its congress and the senate that are bending the American people over while they are insider trading all day. i could go on about finance forever but I am getting the evil eye.

Europe is different and in a good way. There, the gov departments actually do what they are called. In the US, the Department of Energy only consumes energy. The Department of Transportation does not transport anything. The Department of Education is the most evil of them all and does not educate anyone. American trains are the slowest in the civilized world. The money these bastards collect as funds to repair and maintain is spent on crap the day it comes in. Public transportation is mainly for the city poor and those who are brave enough to risk being mugged or shot by random nig*ers.

As for Euro government, it is very similar to US. Lots of talk and arguing, lots of wasted time and money, lots of back slapping and zero accomplishments. Poland with the clown show operating at the top now is F'd when the bills have to be paid. Still no EU recovery money. Interest rates through the roof, and a devalued currency, all the while Sanepid says if COVID gets too crazy they will put in restrictions again. Clearly no one learned anything.

Discussion doesnt always have to be argumentative. In business before every negotiation I identify something I have in common with the other side and use that to keep an air of trying to get a fair deal done throughout the process. This is something our politicians need to learn and we should all use here. Our differences on many subjects are not so far apart.

If for instance Ukraine had been the invading country going to Russia I would be arguing for the Russians. War's destabilize entire regions and the world when Russia, China or the US is involved. We have retards running countries and we need to look at ourselves for allowing it.

I have always said, I am not affiliated with any party. DeSantis is simply the smartest man in politics now. He doesn't GAF about being nice or about cozying up to left or far right groups. While his policy is largely straight line republican, he does spend enough time in the middle to not scare people like Trump scares people on both sides now. Sleepy Joe needs to be in a care facility and Trump is going to end up with criminal charges. Nothing to see here its all old news.

I was audited two years in a row thanks to new IRS policy put in place by Trump. When he cut IRS funding, they became more aggressive with people who have been successful. Biden will make it that much worse. Let me tell you, the IRS don't care if you are right unless you got proof you are right, they don't even need to prove you did something wrong. It is the most powerful agency in the US.
