I was reading something by an engineer earlier that said no single-pillar bridge in the world would be able to stand being hit by a fully loaded giant container ship.

There are better and stronger single-pillar bridges than that around the world however even the strongest would have fallen.

Now with the ships black box recovered, all of this was due to mechanical malfunction. All covered by insurance. The captain did all he could to stop the strike from happening, and wont be held accountable. I remember a few years ago, before 1989, the Polish army built a bridge across the Vistula. They did it in less than a week (it was a special action to celebrate an anniversary) and that bridge stood for years. Done by central government without pointless bickering and done well. The bridge stood for years.

Indeed the holier than thou, the clean, and completely pure stand in judgement of others. The few who are capable of this though usually have the balls to show themselves. The laws in Europe are quite clear when it comes to invasion of privacy and cyber stalking. Nothing to joke about. The UK in particular has some very wide ranging and inclusive items they can use to prosecute such people. Posting information on message boards is certainly one item that can be used as evidence, and admission of conversations concerning the stalked and harassed subject are prima face evidence of such behavior, but hey who cares about that when you think you can remain annonymous.
