Wait half a year and see what happens. In my company, 60% of employees received the minimum wage. Now we can't even get a Czech cleaner for the German minimum wage. It would be good if you learned a little economics instead of insulting your fellow forum members.

I know economics very well.

Here is the American model in six steps:

1. Send well-paying factory jobs to China and Mexico.
2. Let low-wage illegal hordes in to compete with the natives for service jobs.
3. Fix the damage done in Steps 1 and 2, by the "minimum wage" crap.
4. Blame store owners for laying off people they can't afford.
5. Pretend that the law of supply and demand doesn't apply anymore.
6. Tell pis*ed of ex-workers that it's Trump's fault. Or climate change...

So, what the market accepts-not what is mandated by government.

What's happening in America is the minimum wage is not in concert with certain sectors of the market. The government is mandating a minimum wage that is not sustainable for some businesses-businesses that hire non-skilled labor. A labor force most vulnerable to becoming unemployed or replaced.

What happens if your company is forced to double or triple the wages of those cleaners?

Minimum wage laws, at least here in America (but probably everywhere), remind me of the adage "the road to hell is paved with good intentions. "


I think it is more good than bad. They are investing in America as opposed to elsewhere. Creates jobs and residual business growth, tax revenues, and usually get some infrastructure upgrade with it.

If minimum wage laws were good for us, let's make it $100/h.
Plus, to eliminate poverty, every child should get 1,000,000 dollars at birth. It would reduce crime and stop all abortions, too.

A week ago or so I walked up to a group of girls, gave them money, and asked them to give my cookies to somebody else.

I love kids and watch kittens and dogs videos before I go to bed.
I don't do Meals on Wheels, but often offer a meal at McD to guys who look homeless or just hungry.
