Ok, let's assume Germans build new Volkswagen factories in two or three years (hopefully Trump is not gone by then).
A similar situation (or much more unrealistic at the moment) seems to be with the fees on the Chinese-made ships and reviving shipbuilding in the US: 🤔

"
U.S. shipyards turn out fewer than 10 ships annually while China's produce 1,000, speakers said."
Meanwhile, industry executives said shipbuilders in Japan and Korea would struggle to meet demand in
the years it would take U.S. shipyards to build up capacity.
Replacing existing China-built vessels is not like flipping a light switch, said Kathy Metcalf, CEO of the Chamber of Shipping of America.

Enacting and implementing those fees could cease exports of U.S. coal within 60 days, putting $130 billion worth of shipments at risk, Thrasher said. He said the fee structure could add up to 35% to the delivered cost of U.S. coal, making it
uncompetitive on the global market.
"The loss of direct and indirect jobs would be catastrophic," said Thrasher, who confirmed sending the letter and said he has not received a response."

Btw, Poland's biggest (state-owned) maritime shipowner company (Polska Żegluga Morska) has 51 bulk carrier ships out of which 49 are Chinese-made. They already said they can't afford to pay those astronomical fees and will have to take their shipments elsewhere:

"The US is a strategic market for us, we've been sending shipments there for the last 50 years. It would be a big problem for us. We swim to the Great Lakes, also to Canaveral in Florida. We bring big cargos of artificial fertilizers to New Orleans, we also transport American grain. If the Americans block their ports for us with such cosmic fees,
they will be stuck with that grain. They will have a problem themselves, because there won't be anyone to get their cargos out - says Krzysztof Gogol."
Europe and Canada issued a warning against travel to the US.
And I thank you, parasites, for it. I hate foreigners.
I doubt that the US tourist industry hates them though. Apparently the biggest tourist traffic to the US comes from Canada (which makes sense, as they're your neighbour) and American airlines have been already affected by the Canadian boycott.
If the US included Canada and Greenland, we would have everything we need to be the only country on the planet and would not need any foreign trade.
Firstly, the US doesn't include Canada and Greenland, so go back to the planet Earth lol and, secondly, you're an ignorant idiot ;D
For the time being, for example, you need China, South Korea and Japan to buy your merchant ships.
"Three Asian countries dominate today's merchant shipbuilding:
China, South Korea and Japan, which produce 90 percent of commercial ships. The China's share is 50 percent (in terms of the tonnage of merchant ships)."
