The Lexus deficit - a fantasy I know

Japanese build a car
You buy it
Japanese man feeds his family
You enjoy driving it

Repeat every few years

What's unsustainable about that ?

So Trump is hellbent on destroying US economy with those evil tariffs...OK...

So why did CAC, DAX, and FTSE nosedive?

PolAmKrakow
9 Apr 2025  #844

Oh the world economic leaders must be paying attention to all the genius thinkers here on PF. All those terrible tariffs.....And countries are lining up wot eliminate or make tariffs equal across the board. The EU? Ursula from Brussles has now offered zero tariffs in on mechanical and industrial goods from the US in exchange for the same for the EU. But of course the EU is so tough, they will never break.

Again, anyone thinking the EU isnt going to get in line doesnt know $hit about tariffs, or the US. Everyone will get in line, or those not in line will starve their economy to death. Trump is just an idiot right? Seems like he is either the luckiest idiot alive, or the most cunning leader the US has had in modern history.

As for the deportation of illegals? The US Supreme Court has sided with Trump and the use of the Alien Enemy Act. The deportations have resumed. Next stupid leftist move?

cms neuf

They offered that several weeks ago, Golden Cow refused because he wanted to grandstand and make a big show.

Our economies are not so reliant on the US that we will starve.

And nobody is "getting in line" for the US these days. Because we can see it is amateur hour over there In Washington.

zero tariffs in on mechanical and industrial goods from the US in exchange for the same for the EU

This is called a free trade zone. This is how the EU works. The largest free market in the world. You should know this if you are a resident of Poland.

@cms neuf
Imagine the EU cut off from LNG from the US and Russia next winter. It wont happen but worst case scenario is a disaster. And everyone is getting in line. Go read the news. Hundreds of billions of new investments.

@Alien
Free trade? Are you fvcking blind? The EU is cost prohibitive to any small business or startups. Only very large companies come to the EU, and the EU companies are either old and well established or funded by the EU. I wonder what the EU has innovated and developer recently that the world cannot live without?

When the EU changes the standards for US cars to be the same as EU cars, and the tariffs are equal then it will be a balanced trade agreement. The EU needs the US market a lot more then the US needs the EU. You should know this if you now anything about economics and it doesnt matter where you live to know it.

At the moment we need US gas but let's not fall into the trap of having both the NNs and the US blackmailing us about fuel - we need to use less, develop more renewables and buy from as many other places as possible - can be Nigeria, Canada, Norway wherever.

I see the US has just revoked natural gas licences to friendly democratic Trinidad - precisely the sort of tactic Putler would use

Now that's mean.....the EU plans to target especially the US red states, which voted for Trump!

No joke! :)

EU targets Trump's red states with tariffs on US trucks, cigarettes and ice cream

politico.eu/article/eu-tariffs-trade-war-donald-trump-republican-states/

European trade officials sure know how to have fun......
.....
Overall, EU duties are set to hit up to $13.5 billion worth of exports from red states, according to POLITICO's analysis of 2024 trade data.....

....Let's start with the EU's No. 1 target - soybeans, the most valuable item on the bloc's hit list, a product whose economic and symbolic significance for the Republican Party's heartlands cannot be overstated.
...
The U.S. is the world's second-largest soybean producer and exporter, and the EU tariffs would hit a sector already battered by China's retaliatory measures, rising global competition and falling prices. That's not all: 82.5 percent of American soybean exports to the EU come from Louisiana, the home state of House Speaker Mike Johnson....

I never thought of Brussels that "creatively aggressive".....

Apple urgently requested suppliers to ship as many premium devices as possible to the United States by air freight

The EU has so many protective measures they make Trump look like a rookie. Bringing something into the EU, not made or paid for in the EU, made in the USA, paid for in the USA, VAT through UPS 23% for a non vat country and a non vat payer, and a non vat supplier. The EU is where only the EU and its member nations make money unless they are a large corporation. Anyone in the EU starting a business anywhere but Hungary or Bulgaria is simply an idiot.

Barney
9 Apr 2025  #852

non vat payer

Why would a non VAT payer pay VAT unless they are indeed a VAT payer? To pay VAT you must be buying something or importing something into a country that has the sales tax called VAT. If Europeans can do it why can others not, VAT applies to every operator except criminals.

The gorrila in the living room is that the US got itself deindustrialized to the point where it could not defend itself.

When a country has to rely on an island 10,000 miles away for microchips that are needed to make fighter planes, it's not a superpower.

It's a soybean farm with nukes.

All that VAT and tariff talk is just noise.

VAT applies to every operator except criminals.

Who gives a fvck how VAT works....so take your fairness and shove it up your Euro ass...

Who gives a fvck how VAT works....

Take your VAT and shove it up your ass. Raise the tariffs higher on Europe, we will easily outlast them and dont need their cars.

The good news is the Supreme Court is siding with Trump. The leftard lawfare judges are being spanked down!

You are next; no more discriminating pulled out of you a*rse fake rules and regulations, like chicken sh*t cowered eggs. All of you are friendly to the point US
politely ask for a level playing field; at that point, the Lilliputians panic, with child like a tantrum, even refuse to take a sh*t, in retaliation.

I see the US has just revoked natural gas licences to friendly democratic Trinidad - precisely the sort of tactic Putler would use.

What is unsustainable judging by the manure you are spreading on PF because of the limited capacity of your encephalon?
Why not try something fair? Japanese build a car, sell the car to a Japanese family, they kip the profit in Japan, feed their families and epred the happiness all over Japan. At exactly same time Americans built the car,Cadilac ,for a fair conperasment, sell the car to American family .100% of the profit stays in America, and everybody is happy, except for CMS, his brain is overheating at the moment.

What's up with that radio silence, Trump haters?

Why don't you ever tell us what you would do differently?

If you decide to impress us with your wisdom, the starting point of your post should be 36/3/1T. Those are: US debt and two deficits - budget and trade.

If you could also explain why the US needs tanks and artillery for extra credits...

CMS, his brain is overheating at the moment.

CMS brain is an oxymoron...or simply a moron.

@Barney
If an American buys something with his US bank account, from a US company, and has it shipped to Poland, he will have it stopped by UPS and they will force you to sign an import agreement and then pay 23% plus an import commission. Thats what happens every day, and it should be illegal, because it is, but you cant stop them.

Everyone wants something from the US, but no one wants to have a level playing field. The Democrats are upset that Australia is getting his with a tariff on their beef, but they dont say a word about Australia not allowing US beef into the country. The EU wants to have zero on cars now, but the emissions, and other standards are constantly changing. I want to see these tariffs go through for at least three months and see which pig squeels first.

.....the US got itself deindustrialized to the point where it could not defend itself.

Nah....that is Germany!

Our green-goody-two-shoes even achieved that shutting down of the actual most clean, cheap energy, our nuclear power plants (with the help of CDU-Merkel of course), to rescue the world climate, which makes producing in Germany so un-sexy for every calculating business (now without even the cheap russian gas)!

Barely an army left and less and less industry....we could get hammered together, the US and Germany!

But in America you can buy a Cadillac or a Lexus - whichever you prefer and provided you can afford it. Isn't that is what is awesome about America ? Lots of choice and a free market

Talking to you guys about tariffs and trade is getting pretty weird

Headlines that made me smile...

With secret moves against international students, feds spread fear

Panic would be better. Next:

From a Miami Detention Center, a Cuban Asks To Be Deported Due to Inhumane Treatment

Good move, azzhole...Go back and spread the word that Yanks eat migrant children for lunch. Kittens for breakfast...

'Total uncertainty': Cuban migrants left in legal limbo under Trump's new policies

It's a certainty that you should not be here, useless scum...

Now I feel even better.

but the emissions, and other standards are constantly changing.

...and they lie if necessary. See VW.

Barney

@PolAmKrakow
You would be paying import tax (if it applies) plus VAT so what you said was nonsense. There are no non VAT payers in Europe.

Importing something that doesn't meet local standards is not allowed, that is a level playing field. If you want lower standards that grand but don't insist others must follow. The same applies to taxation, the local place decides.

I love seeing everyone meltdown over tariffs.

Try living like Russia - b*tches...

More sanctions than against Kim Jong Un or the Ayatollah - and we are printing money. That's sovereignty.

That's when you know that only God is your judge, and you don't need to care about what anybody else says.

Let's remember 2022 - when this forum was full of "the Ruble is rubble" and "toilet stealing orcs".

Do an honest day's work and you will always find your bread.

Novichok

full of "the Ruble is rubble" and "toilet stealing orcs".

...and how "orcs" steal dishwashers for their chips...

Those sanctions against Russia were a wake-up call-if you ever needed one. One day, they will be seen as the best thing your enemies did for you.

The US needs one desperately, too. It came as Trump who said what the Russia-hating morons here said about Russia being a gas station with nukes...

Oh, fvck, we are a soybean farm with nukes! I want our factories back! Not an exact quote...

Instead of saying "Trump is right", the Euro slime fakes concern how Trump is an incompetent idiot and the US is doomed.

They somehow never offer a better plan to fix that 36/3/1T nightmare....

In the meantime, fvck you, Euros. BB is fine.
