I'd like to remain on this plant, but please somebody got us better leaders. I don't know what happened to Trump between 2019 and now, but the guy has completely lost me.

I can't remember ever being this disappointed in elected officials (and I have a long list of intense prior disappointments), hell disappointed isn't a strong enough term.

Then there's the realization that I've been wrong for a good 20 years....we are in fact beholden to Israel....the chagrin is nearly unbearable. I've called people idiots (to their face, so those people actually know who I am) when they've intimated that.

One would think, that Iran would not allow itself to be fooled twice in the period of a year?

Yet here we are again - I am reading in the FT that the decision to make war was taken weeks ago. The talks in Geneva were a pro forma exercise, and to ensure that it was - they heaped tons of other asks into the mix that they a priori knew Iran would never agree with.

Supposedly - Israel struck at a building in which a large number of top Iranian officials were meeting! Hahaha!

Why are these guys not sitting in bunkers for the last two weeks? How could they believe that the Geneva talks were in good faith, when just last year they played them like little children?

The world is certainly not suffering from a shortage of morons in leadership positions.

Even a modest passerby like myself knew we were going to strike Iran sooner or later-the mullahs could have converted to Judaism and lined up to perform a sodomistic act on Bibi and built Trump shrines all throughout Persia-and they were still going to get attacked. Bobko, I cannot articulate just how disillusioned I've become. It's sh!t sandwiches just about everywhere you look amongst the temporal structures. Poland may actually be the least sh!tty.

I got an idea, how you, Torq, BB, and me buy Epstein's old island. We'll get a bevy of priests to perform an exorcism on it, build a Church, and start our own Knossos?

I have been thinking about something like that for quite a while now (about a decade probably). Not necessarily an island, maybe rather 25 or so hectares of land in the mountains and a settlement for 8-10 families, with our own water and energy (solar, wind, portable generators for emergency), domestic animals, and a small church/chapel in the middle. Combination of farming, remote work, commuting to work to a nearby town if absolutely necessary, homeschooling - you're catching my drift.

Well yeah, it f*cking sucks.

For me - it's sort of doubly disappointing.

I actually STARTED OUT hating America - to the great chagrin of my parents who were lifelong, committed Americanophiles.

I was the guy writing in the school newspaper how Iraq and Afghanistan were crimes (got called to principal's office, because American ambassador complained about the newsletters his kid was bringing home).

I was telling everyone I knew that America is Israel's stooge, and that one day God will punish it for Kosovo.

Then I came here, and lots of good people convinced me I was behaving like a loon, and saying irresponsible things.

Now - sh*t is worse than ever, and everyone agrees we are looking at a sh*t sandwich of the highest quality.

And there is no satisfaction...

No reward in an "I told you so".

Just a sh*t sandwich.

Another little observation on the nature of the sh*t sandwich...

I think the reason I'm not as "super hot" on the war in Ukraine, as say Velund or Constantine, is because Russia is really beginning to remind me of the United States.

Like I said - I absolutely HATED America as a young person. The feeling of justice and just general way of viewing life in black and white was strong.

I could not fathom how the average American could ignore the crimes being doing in his name.

But then I had a Fox News-loving English teacher. A biology teacher who was a former US Marine. And I saw the mental hula hoops they went through to convince themselves they were still the good guys.

Then I came to study and live in America, and saw it all from the inside - and was like "Wow! It looks totally different from in here!"

At some level - I decided Americans were simply retards - that could not understand how they are perceived. Not worthy of hate - since most are good people - but just retarded monkeys with their finger on the nuke switch.

Now I feel like I was a bit too hasty in my judgments, because I am watching my fellow Russians turn into monkeys with grenades.

Watching the same 24-hour warmongering drone on Russian cable tv. The same American style talking heads telling us "We're under attack! We're under siege!"

It's this annoying worldwide victim culture. Everyone is competing to tell the world how bad they have it. Even Russia claims that they are defending Russian people from Ukrainian nazis and merely defending themselves from NATO expansionism. Israel, of course, is defending from terrorism etc. etc. Everyone is on a f*cking defensive - a magic world, with all defenders and no attackers.

All very interesting but the main point is that turning to international affairs signals that the incumbent has run out of ideas on how to manage the home market. He can't fix the cost of living thing or tariff his way to employment and wealth. shooting US citizens didn't go down too well either.Those were his big ideas all he has left is self aggrandisement and attempting to leave a so called legacy. I went through thinking about that in my late 20's. I even met a group of Catholic families who were trying to live that out. It's one of the ways I became acquainted with Chesterton/ Belloc's Distributism. I realized that such is only meant for the monastery, that we are meant to be out in the world as witnesses.
