Would Poles support Belgrade as EU Capital, instead of Brussels, if possibility occurs for that ?

Crow

I think its interesting question. I mean, EU would disintegrate or change for the better, become more balanced.

Is it possible for Poles to support Belgrade over Brussels, considering not only fact of geographical Central European position of Belgrade but also fact about Belgrade`s historically being West for the East and East for the West, city on the crossroads of civilizations, while still belonging to Slavic world. Not to mention that being center for Slavs (ie Sarmatians), Celts and Thracians, after all, even for the Romans, Belgrade even naturally deserve to be Capital of European Union.

Belgrade, birthplace of the West.

So Poles, would you support it. For political, emotional, for any reason?

Yes, all the Serbs I've met have been very nice people. Personally I'm fairly sure that crow is an Albanian who is pretending to be a Serb in order to make Serbs look bad.

Why Belgrad? Doesn't an EU capital have to submit to certain basic human rights requirements, GDP stuff like that?
If it doesn't, it should!

Furthermore, Bruxelles is an international city with close proximity to the Hague, The International Court of Justice, her inhabitants are all mostly multi-lingual, and so nearly as I can tell, has no history of human rights violations.

During the War, the Serbs were not exactly "charitable", shall we say, towards Jews:-)

Kinda glossed over that one, didn't you Crow!

Why Belgrad?

For starter, because Belgrade winning. Its not yet obvious but, it happening.

Belgrade? Thats a city is it? Wow.

Yes, dear. Its a city. Brussels can`t be even compared to Belgrade. Brussels is nothing.

* Belgrade is city founded by Celts, by greatest ever Celtic tribe of Skordisci. Its important fact, no matter do you believe that Celts were Slavs (ie Sarmatians) or not. Simple, Belgrade is native European settlement.

* It was center for Triballi, greatest ever Thracian tribe and its also important no matter do you believe that Thraciuans were Slavs (ie Sarmatians) or not. Over Thracians, it again got mark of the native European settlement.

* Belgrade is Sarmatian (ie Slavic) center. It was focus of efforts for the Roxolani who tried to came in aid to Dacians (ie Sarmatians) at a time of Roman onslaught.

* Belgrade was center for antic Romans. In Moeasia with Belgrade as center, 17 Roman Emperors and 1 Caesar were born in classical antiquity.

* Belgarde was center to the Vinca civilization, that flourished in time when Belgrade and near regions served as Ice Age refugium and from where Europe later was again re-populated.

* Non-Aligned movement was formed in Belgrade back in 1961 when first conference was held. Unofficially, Belgrade is natural site of world Capital, real center for UN.

* Belgrade was Capital of Yugoslavia, one of most successful European and Slavic states ever, until destroyed by EU and NATO.

Whatever man, whatever. You know that for old Slavs, Germanaic languages were mute languages.

Whatever???! No, not whatever. Confess that your English STINKS and that you need a native speaker to walk you through the baby steps of comprehensibilty.

How would you like me to mess up your native tongue, huh?? I don't think you would either!

Yes, the words for mute in modern Slavic languages - "niemy" (Polish), "nijem" (Croatian), "нем" (Serbian), "nemý" (Slovak) and so on are all the basis of the names for Germany in those languages - "Niemcy" (Polish), "Njemačka" (Croatian), "Немачка" (Serbian), "Nemecko" (Slovak).

Crow

"nijem" (Croatian), "нем" (Serbian),

Just for your information.

That ``Croatian`` nijem is just one of Serbian dialects, still speaking by Serbians. Nem, Nijem, Njem... its all Serbian. Then, Serbians equally using Cyrillic and Latin alphabet.

What I want to tell you, while I can or must accept, formation of Croatian nation due to reasons of politics and as powerful enemies of my people insist, we Serbians with great pain looking how that new nation stealing Serbian language. Imagine that somebody outside of Poland decide to form new nation from Poles who are just of different religion then Catholic. Imagine every aspect of that situation and then you can comprehend proportion of Serbian tragedy.

Confess that your English STINKS

I am actually very good in blasphemous mute language.

Confess that your English STINKS

I think Crow's English is really very good, especially as he has never spent time in an English speaking country. Besides, it is not much of an argument is it? " I don't agree with you and by the way your English is shyte"

However no Crow, it won't be Belgrade, maybe Berlin?

Crow

Forget every-day politics and focus on obvious facts, geography (Central Europe and Balkan) and cultural/historical/political heritage (center... Sarmatian, Thracian, Celtic, Slavic, Roman, South-Slavic, Non-Aligned movement countries), most probable oldest Capital city in Europe, crossroads of many trade and transportation routes.

Impossible. Must be Belgrade when all this dust around settle down. Only now some people maybe don`t understand it but, it would be clear soon enough. Only Belgrade stays right in the middle between east and west of Europe, in cultural and geographical sense. Plus, other reasons.

Must be Belgrade

Why would the EU want to be based in a third rate backwater?

Crow
11 May 2017  #21

Why? What about- if western Europe wants EU to live?

backwater? Belgrade was Slavic metropolis when western Europeans used hands and fingers to eat (its all well documented). Actually, Belgrade and surrounding area Moeasia was metropolis even for the Roman standards, in fact, even before God had plans for Romans.

Things would be corrected and Belgrade would take back its primate. When that happen, people would think of Brussels as error of past times.

Ancient history no reason to base EU offices there now. Otherwise they'd be moving to Rome or more 'historically' Stonehenge.
