2016 Presidential Elections in the US

You almost want him to win just to show how humanity can stoop to new lows...to see how bad things can really get, to prove even more how completely stupid and ignorant our species can be.

delphiandomine

I was thinking the same.

But do you think he would differ drastically from previous presidents anyway? Obama's administration has shown that it is corporations and government agencies that control America, not politicians.

You almost want him to win just to show how humanity can stoop to new lows...

Why stupid? He is saying aloud what Americans are saying at home. He address those issues which are being ignored by the main stream politicians. It is enough to gain popular support - what stupid about that?

No, we want him to win to keep the Socialist Hillary out.
She would finish off what is left of America after eight years of Oblowme.
Ted Cruze will most likely win the primary, not Trump.
Wroclaw Boy, please explain to me the difference between a Socialist and a Democrat.

Best UK odds today. For POTUS:

Clinton 8/11
Rubio 11/2
Trump 6/1

For GOP candidate:
Rubio 15/8
Trump 5/2
Cruz 9/4

For Dem candidate:
Clinton 1/10 (with some bookies going 1/20)
Sanders 8/1
50/1 bar

In election after election after election the bookies have been proved right. They are the only pollsters I take any notice of. Let's see how these odds change as the circus continues.

Why stupid? He is saying aloud what Americans are saying at home.

What Americans have been manipulated to say at home you mean....and mainly only the more ignorant and naive ones.

It is enough to gain popular support - what stupid about that?

Obviously i wasn't referring to his campaign tactics. Youve completely misinterpreted what i wrote.

Obama's administration has shown that it is corporations and government agencies that control America, not politicians.

Yeah maybe. As much of an out of touch billionaire living in an ignorance bubble he may be, you have to wonder how much power a president really has. The fear with Trump i reckon is that he's obviously a maniac. How far can an already super rich maniac go? Didn't he have an idea to build a super wall across the US / Mexican border to stop immigrants making the dash? He's also highly opposed to green renewable energy and anti Muslim. He makes Nigel Farage look like a pussy cat, i wouldn't be surprised if he came out of the wood work as a result of Farage making waves over here not so long ago...thinking "hang on a minute i can do that."

One things pretty sure in my mind, if theres one country with the propaganda machine in place coupled with a stupid enough population to vote in a maniac...its the US.

you have to wonder how much power a president really has.

Yep, that's what I wonder too. But then again, he also seems clever enough to turn round and pull back from all the rhetoric post-election - so it's very hard to tell with him.

Having said that, his campaigning is nothing short of brilliant - Ted Cruz is the favourite to win Iowa, and now Trump has slyly suggested that him being born in Canada means that he's not eligible to be President. But not only that - he's managed to break all the rules of Presidential campaigns and somehow get away with it.

The Republicans are screwed though - if their nomination race is between Cruz and Trump, neither will appeal to the centrist ground and Clinton/Sanders will mop up.

Clinton/Sanders will mop up.

Would be great to see Sanders get in. We have the anti socialist angle which I'm sure many Americans will relish from Trump but maybe it will take a maniac to get a socialist voted in, and America may have a shot at being great again.

Just came across this:

Rubio 15/8

He is my pick as of right now however Cruz is coming on strong.
Bully Trump with control over the red button that launch the nuke's scares me.
I did grin when I heard this however where he may crash Scutland's economy.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's company has threatened to withhold up to $1 billion of investment if the U.K. government decides to ban his entry into the country.
Thousands of U.K. citizens signed a petition in December calling on the government to block Trump from entering the country. On Thursday, more than 570,000 had signed the petition, legally forcing the U.K. government to debate the petition on January 18.
According to the statement, The Trump Organisation claims to be planning to invest £700 million ($1.02 billion) in two golf resorts in Scotland and promises millions more in the future. At the moment, £200 million is earmarked for the Trump Turnberry resort, while £500 million will go towards developing the 1,400 acre Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.

Only Bully Trump !
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
Just shows you, "ain't it great to be an American".

and lets say he invests in those golf courses after all, who do you think will profit the most? Heres a clue, it wont be Scotland.

He already did one, even if he was furious about the wind turbines in the distant view, and that obviously made him even richer. He's not building golf courses out of the goodness of his heart mate. He's a disgusting parasite.

Roger5

The Trump campaign is very entertaining and has highlighted the fears many Americans have, but speculation about a Trump presidency is surely academic; Kanye West has as much chance of being elected to the White House.

8 Jan 2016  #12

how completely stupid and ignorant our species can be.

Our species also often makes the right decisions and he will not win. The bookies say Hillary will be the next president.

Ideally Trump would stand as an independent and split the conservative vote like Ross Perot however that's probably hoping for too much.

Roger5
8 Jan 2016  #13

probably hoping for too much.

I'm not so sure about that. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, his hubris, ego and sheer enjoyment of the game might tempt him to continue as an independent. He has already hinted at that.

johnny reb

The bookies say Hillary will be the next president.

I didn't see that but I guess it is horrifyingly possible if she isn't convicted of all thhe crimes that she is guilty of and sent to a Federal prison where she belongs.
The best one yet is when she supported her husband Bill when he couldn't keep his peeter in his pants and Hillary blamed it on the other women (23 year old Monica for one).
Now Hillary is campaigning on supporting women of sexual abuse.
What a sham.
She would surely finish off what is left of America after Obama's 8 years of complete failures and debt.
Let's see how these odds change as the circus continues.

You nailed it Roger, that is exactly what it is at this point, a circus.
Trump just announced that he is done insulting the GOP competition and is now going to start going after Hillary.
It is going to get very nasty as the Clinton Crime family have a whole lot of dirty laundry that is going to be hung out by the Trumpster.
The millions donated to the "Clinton Foundation" that Hillary has questionably accepted from foreign countries for 'favors'.
It's all going to come out and you European's are going to be in shock to see what the media has been hiding about the Clinton's.
Have you noticed that Hillary refuses to even mention Trump in fear he will tear her apart.
Hillary does not know how to give a public speech or know how to debate.
If Trump wins he will have a field day with her.

It is obvious why jon and Wroclaw Boy want Hillary and that is because she is a Socialist like them.
Wroclaw Boy, please explain to me the difference between a Socialist and a Democrat.

A Socialist would finish America off........Capitalism is what built America, the greatest and most powerful country on earth ever.

and lets say he invests in those golf courses after all, who do you think will profit the most? Heres a clue, it wont be Scotland.

I'm familiar with his business actions. What he does is find someone to loan the money to pay for the course, then he builds an astonishing amount of new houses (sold for big bucks, obviously) next to the course.

Anyway, Trump's threats are not because of the actions of the Scottish/UK government, but because NE Scotland has huge problems because of the price of oil being in the toilet. No-one is going to buy his houses for half a million pounds now, so he's 'withdrawing his investment' for that reason.

johnny reb

I'm familiar with his business actions.

LMFAO
because of the price of oil being in the toilet.

Oh my.........
Those houses are being built for VERY rich people that use them one or two weeks a year and use them as a foreign tax write off.
Those people like Donny make money regardless of what oil prices are.
No-one is going to buy his houses for half a million pounds now

That is not a lot of money for a home where I live. Mid range to say the least.
Stick to your day job of planning day trips for nine and ten year olds so you don't embarrass yourself anymore then you have.

delphiandomine

Those people like Donny make money regardless of what oil prices are.

Oh Johnny. It would help if you knew the slightest thing about what Trump was doing there. Those houses aren't for "rich people", they were being built off the back of the fact that oil prices were sky high a while ago, and thus investment was pouring into NE Scotland. The Menie Estate plans were all about developing it for housing, with the golf course simply being a nice attraction for wealthy figures in the oil industry.

Rich people aren't going to buy holiday houses in NE Scotland, because the weather is rubbish and the city isn't much of a tourist destination.

Therefore, his plans are on hold because of the oil industry being in crisis. He's just being his usual bombastic self, when the reality is that he knows that it makes far more sense to leave the land undeveloped for now. There's absolutely no point in building expensive houses that simply won't sell in the current market - and he needs to sell property at a high price there.

Then again, I expect you don't really understand why the oil price affects the NE Scotland economy so much, given that you haven't got a clue.

That is not a lot of money for a home where I live. Mid range to say the least.

I said half a million pounds, not half a million Belarusian rubles. Trailer parks aren't quite comparable to Menie.

Stick to your day job of planning day trips for nine and ten year olds so you don't embarrass yourself anymore then you have.

Thinking about children again?

Obviously i wasn't referring to his campaign tactics. Youve completely misinterpreted what i wrote.

There is no wisdom to be found in a political platform.
What Americans have been manipulated to say at home you mean....and mainly only the more ignorant and naive ones.

Some of those are a real problems ignored by the main stream politicians. The real problem is that Donald can't be trusted.

delphiandomine

The real problem is that Donald can't be trusted.

I'd agree with you if you said "because he is no-one's man". Trump's campaign is self financed along with campaign donations from small donors, which is what makes him so dangerous.

Lyzko

Trump has been described of late as the "wonderbra" of American politics; he's in your face, he's here, he's there, he's everywhere (..other than where he SHOULD be, namely, behind his negotiating desk at Trump Enterprises!!!).

In the end, people, he's the classic spoiled rotten, school-yard bully, with way too much time on his hands for cheap, meaningless self aggrandizement, nothing more nothing less:-)

As he's gonna be dropped from the ticket come 11/16, I frankly don't see what all the brouhaha is about. Any analogies with the Bohemian Corporal as evil clown not to be underestimated are at best facile.

johnny reb
8 Jan 2016  #22

Cruz will be dropped too because he was born in Canada.
Hillary will too because she is a liar, thief and murderer.
Remember when the Clinton's left the White House when Bill retired............
Hillary had to give back over $200,000 worth of art and several other things she stole.
The old Trumpster just ain't buying all you Libtards Political Correctness Crap and it's just p!ssing ya'll off to no end.
He has already said that he would undo ever executive order that Barry Hussein signed and close our borders to all Muslims.
He'd get my vote just for doing that.

delphiandomine

Watching Trump destroy the GOP over the next few months will be hilarious. Best Democrat we've ever had.

johnny reb
8 Jan 2016  #24

No watching Trump publically exposing the Clinton Crime family undeniable sins of corruption and then watching poor Hillary try to deny it, side step it, ignore it, lie about it etc. will be better then any movie that you would have to pay good money to go see.
I really wouldn't be surprised if Hillary had a nervous break down and have to drop out.
Hillary and Bill both belong in prison.

delphiandomine
9 Jan 2016  #25

Only problem with that scenario is that you assume that the Democrats aren't able to dig up a lot on Trump, too. His mafia links aren't exactly a huge secret.

johnny reb
9 Jan 2016  #26

Nothing will come close to the Benghazi scandal or Bill visiting his friend's private island off Texas (several times) with under aged sex slaves (14, 15,16,17 year old girls) that his friend is now sitting in prison for.
Of course old slick Willy only went there just to play golf with his friend.
The Clinton's skeletons will be hard to beat.

jon357
9 Jan 2016  #27

His mafia links aren't exactly a huge secret.

Plus a whole lot of other stuff including a history of messy relationships.

Basically he hasn't a chance, though it would be wonderful if he stood as a conservative independent.

delphiandomine

Basically he hasn't a chance, though it would be wonderful if he stood as a conservative independent.

I read a very interesting article that suggested how Trump has essentially destroyed the GOP's chance of winning the Presidency - even if he doesn't get the Republican nomination (or withdraws once he loses the first few states) - he's still forced them into a very hard lurch to the right that will be utterly unpalatable to the centrist voters.

I had a quick look at him a while ago and it looked like he was swapping in his wives for younger models every 8 years or so. Kinda "right you're getting bit wrinkly, time for a change" boot!

The Reps'll doubtless dredge up Fred Trump's attendance of KKK meetings as well as the confirmed fact that Trump's dad flatly REFUSED to rent any of his properties to blacks!!

Nice one, huh?
:-)
