Liar, I feed them second cutting alfalfa too. Very rich in nutriants for them.
I have even had a Conservation Officer at my house looking at the deer herd in the spring of the year and he remarked, "Those deer look healthier than most farmers cattle."

$10 a bale for second cutting alfalfa and I put two bales a day out for them in January and February plus the corn.
Why do you think farmers get crop damage permits for their corn fields to kill as many deer as they want to and just let them lay to rot.

I meant the way you "hunt" for deer. As GefreiterKania wrote - what you're doing is like poaching, not hunting. That's why I wrote that you're a butcher, not a hunter. When wild animals come to your place, because you were giving them food and then you kill them right there - it's slaughter, not hunting. There's honestly something despicable about it.

You're not supposed to feed wild animals, Johnny. As Paulina and I both pointed out to you, it is better left to professionals who know what they're doing.


You keep mentioning money like it gives you the poaching rights. That's ridiculous. Hunting clubs do much more than just build feeding racks and supply them with food. Quite often - for example in areas where there's a lot of wild boar and they destroy potato crops - we plant potatoes right next to forests for the wild boar to eat. Of course we don't do that ourselves - we buy a plot of land and pay some farmer to cultivate it and plant potatoes. And still - nobody would claim that all the expenses give him the right to slaughter animals at will. It's amazing that I even have to say it.

You can't just shoot wild game like that - whenever you see fit or whenever you need meat. Hunting clubs issue an exact number of shooting permits (odstrzały) every hunting season and if you kill an animal without it, you're consider a poacher and liable to legal action. Every year wild game is counted (inwentaryzacja zwierzyny) and based on that we know how many of deer, doe, foxes or wild boar can be safely hunted each year. Hunters are protectors of the forests not butchers.

If you still don't see the difference between hunting and what you're doing, then I rest my case. But, please, don't call yourself a hunter - it's an insult to the hunting community.

I feed them in January and February during the brutely weather here that you don't have in Poland.
For the next SEVEN months they eat from the wild until my vegetable garden ripens and the apple trees in my yard start dropping their apples on the ground for them.

I even put a sign up, keep out of my garden and don't steal my apples or you will get shot and the deer pay no heed to it.

Besides, do you think a tame chicken tastes and different than a wild one ? lol
