I don't care who is confused here. I am not. Just to reiterate... I can't stand Polish both spoken and written. It is beyond painful to me...My Polish wife and went 100% English in 1975.

She calls me names and we argue in English. To my kids and their kids, Polish is as foreign as Swahili. Why do you think we did it?

Here is my answer: because there is no upside to knowing this horrible language - even in Chicago. Nobody ever offered me a free cup of coffee because I know it.

A language is best judged by how far it has spread among ordinary people. Only English spreads on its own. The rest of them are freaks of nature. Including Polish.

Me teaching my kids Polish would have been child abuse.

There is no such thing "along the way" where the parents don't speak Polish. Or the neighbors and their kids.
