When it comes to people born in Poland or who can speak Polish, France and the UK beat the USA and if you add Germany it doubles the USA total.

How many people of Irish decent live in France, Germany and the U.K. compared to how many live in the U.S.A. ?

USA is a land built on immigration, but most of it was a long time ago.
And although Yanks like to identify as Polish, Irish,Italian American, or whatever,it is a very watered down version of nationality.
In Europe, the Polish presence is much stronger than in the USA.
As I said, because of the large numbers of immigrants born in Poland and the large number of Polish apeakers.
Google how many Polish Americans can speak Polish and you will understand.

contact who grew up in Greenpoint, know at least fairly fluent conversational Polish, bar none!

There is no such thing as Polish-American. You are either Polish or American. This can be easily tested if Poland and the US were in conflict - from a soccer match to a shooting war.

Back in the sixties, I was probably the only one rooting for the US team when it came to Warsaw. That day I knew that I didn't belong there so I did the only decent thing I could; I left the country.

There is nothing more uplifting than seeing three US flags being raised at the Olympics and more depressing than looking at three coffins draped in three flags being offloaded after a long flight from some sh*ithole nobody gives a crap about or can place on the map.
