I last saw him in person a few years ago. I do visit his street (he used to joke about me hiding in the bushes) sometimes since I have a good friend who lives just over the road. If I see him, I'll say hello from you.

He can be a bit unpredictable in person though, especially as the day goes on.

The town part of it isn't bad. Like many state capitals that's the main industry so it's not that big but there's also Florida State University (second biggest in the state) so it has university town vibes as well. All in all I like Tallahassee (though much of the surrounding areas..... the less said the better).

More that Kissimmee is what they'll say because that's what they've heard of and what there are brochures for in their house and what their friends mention.

Ive been to all of those places as well...You forgot about Clewiston..lol I had a bad experience in " Opa Locka" dont ever go there either. I think the best place to live is the SW area. Such as Naples, Ft.Myers, Bonita or Sanibel Is. if you have means.

Look, this may have been before your time, but at some point Russia did kill some 20,000 Poles. These were officers, nobility, and leaders. The Russians that did this were working for a regime that represented an absolute anomaly both in Russian and world history.

We felt so embarrassed by it that we immediately blamed it on the Nazis. Then, when the Nazis occupied the area, and exhumed the corpses, they tried to make an international scandal of it. Since the US, GB, and France were already at war with them, it had a minimal effect of stirring up trouble.

Years later, in an independent Russia, we apologized to the Poles for this crime. Long before one of the twins died in a visit to Smolensk, we made attempts to atone for the sin. But the death of that one Kaczynski made the Poles lose all sense of reason.

Bottom line: Katyn was wrong, and no Russian of average education and with some sense of morality would attempt to defend it. We know, how Stalin & Co. wiped out literally hundreds of thousands of our relatives, and it's not hard to believe that he could implement such a cruel action against the Poles. Fact is fact.

However, everything else, as you pointed out - is bullsh!t. In socialist Poland. no Russian killed any Pole, and no one was sent to Siberia. Simply - it was impossible. This was a Poland we created. How can we undercut their leaders and their judicial system? Poland was not pacified a-là Hungary or Czechoslovakia (in fact, Poland assisted us, and provided most of the muscle).

Very, very bottom line: Russians killed 20,000 Poles, through an action they almost immediately regretted, and they felt so ashamed about it for 60 years that it was kept a secret. Germany killed 5 million Polish citizens. Ukrainian nationalist puppets of Germany killed another 100k-200K during the Wolyn Massacre (not officers, but men, women and children).

Somehow, Germany is now the sugar daddy of Poland, and Ukraine their ho. Russians meanwhile are the Devil incarnate, and should be exterminated.

Not sure if I follow your metaphors, but yes - Polish-Ukrainian relations have improved drastically since 24th Feb 2022.

BESIDES - there are no sane people in Germany today who refuse Poland the right to existence. I wish I could say the same about Russia. That's the difference.

Can you give me an explanation for 200K Poles killed without resorting to "statistical extrapolation"? The German and Ukrainian numbers do not rely on statistical extrapolation.

PS - a neutral observer, might argue that the distance from 1945 to 1989, regardless of how miserable this pseudo-occupation was, is less than the distance from 20K to 5.2M. When you take into account that we f&cked ourselves as much as we did you, during this 1945 to 1989 stretch (actually we f&cked you less than ourselves), then hopefully any argument for criminal intent is void.

...and they were the ultimate hated enemy for at least 50 years after the war. After that they did A LOT to make amends. Of course, the issue of reparations remains.

Before 24th Feb last year, I doubt whether there would be 1% of Poles who would say that they "hate Russia". In case of Germany and Ukraine this number would be significantly higher.


It's not about criminal intent - it's about the national psyche, pride and honour. As "benevolent" as this occupation might have been, it was an occupation nonetheless and it ended merely 34 years ago.

Poles are not idiots, we know history but we can also distinguish between historical grievances and substantial present danger that Russia is to us, hence the somewhat distorted perception.
