Poles suffer from terminal idealism. It's terminal because it can get you killed - typically for "a cause". It was Kosciuszko and Pulaski who went to America. No American general even thought about going to Poland to fight in the Warsaw Uprising or against the Soviet occupiers. They were too smart for that idiocy.
It's a mental disorder that makes you see things not what they actually are but what you hope and pray for them to be.
Their image of "America" is the reason why they bought and keep buying all the crap from the US: If it's made in the USA, it must be good. Even wars...like the one in Iraq and now in Ukraine.
If somebody set out to design the most corrupt and dysfunctional country ever, he would create the US - a place in its final fits toward the cliff - ethnic, moral, and fiscal. See the graph.
Way back, I was where you, naive Polish suckers are now. From a distance, all things look attractive. When you get close up and start lifting rocks...they don't. PAK is right.
