The main difference between nationalism and patriotism is that nationalism is based on the belief that one's nation is superior to others, while patriotism is based on one's love and devotion to country.

Nationalism invites all to play by the rules while Fascist such as yourself, tries to advance one group (Hetro Caucasians) like you do here by denouncing others as non-players.

However, African nations and entertainers have no power to broker any kind of peace. They bring nothing of tangible value to either side. The League of African Nations or a Russian pop star has nothing to hold a deal together. So, putting them in the peacebroker column is whimsical.

China, on the other hand, isn't whimsical, but serious. A Chinese brokered peace deal though is a serious threat to American power, as it would allow China to diminish US-European relations and foil the USian push to decouple Western-Chinese economic ties. It would stabilize and strengthen China's influence in the West.

That Chinese deal would have also allowed China to be a major player in the rebuilding of Ukraine, which would be an extension of its ambitious Belt and Road initiative. In other words, a Chinese brokered peace would have further ingrained Chinese economic and geopolitical influence into the European continent.

It had to be torpedoed.

I've read some folks also mention how it would also give China more credibility with leaders in the southern hemisphere-places that have valuable deposits of resources.

You either misread or I clumsily stated my point. You said African nations and Russian pop stars have tried to appeal for peace. I wasn't equating them, I was just saying neither of them have any real power to broker a peace in Ukraine.

More seriously - African credibility comes from the fact that they are hugely dependent on agricultural imports from both Russia and Ukraine. These two countries cover almost half of Africa's food import needs when it comes to grains.

I'd say that facing hunger, is a big reason to be taken seriously.

From a humanitarian and moral standpoint, these African nations are certainly important and are examples of the deleterious effects of this war. But, so are the 10s of millions of Ukrainian citizens who have been displaced and whose lives have been turned upside-down.

As important the causes of each of these groups of people may be, from a geopolitical standpoint they have no power other than the appeal to morality. They have nothing to offer either side in terms of political assets and assurances ( for a woeful lack of better terms). Nor do they hold any power to hold an agreement together once made.

...and what is China going to do? Nuke Russia or Ukraine if either violates the terms of a ceasefire? That's probably the only credible "power" China has to bind us, even though it would likely involve the erasure of China from the world map.

Anything short of that, such as halting trade relations, or suspending movement of peoples, would not be persuasive in a conflict with existential tones like this one.

China could buy itself more leverage if it actually helped us, but as it stands they are acting as neutral observers that only help Russia in so far as buying its mineral exports. If we were dependent on Chinese arms to perpetuate the war, and they threatened to pull that support - that would be different.
