I still would like to know why all of you Poles are here, not on a Polish forum...where only those who care about Poland and know the language would keep you company.

Even here...Polish-language threads are dead. Don't you like your own language?

I am so happy for you but why aren't you Poles posting on a Polish forum in Poland?

I'm glad they don't!

I learned immensely valuable lessons during the years I'm here...I met people I don't want to miss, even only online! As a German I depend on Poles writing in English on an international forum... PF did more for the understanding between us (at least some of us) than any history lesson in school or some politicians speech!

My question is why do Poles post in ENGLISH on a foreign forum rather than their own in Polish in Poland...

Poles live everywhere....but even with their many different foreign backgrounds they often enough still have their polish roots and interests....a fascinating mix....what connects them is the western lingua franca, English!

Take yourself Rich, you have an absolutely fascinating historical background...your experiences and opinions because of that are extremely interesting, not only to me! I would never had the chance to meet you and hear about them without PF, think about that....

Imagine they weren't here. People come here because of Poles and Poland. Who would like to hang around a board where there's only a grumpy old wanna-be American Polack and a couple of Strzelecs? ;) Who would provide all the quality information about Poland to all the clueless foreigners? Get a grip, Novi. :)

Savoir vivre takes precedence over grammar. :) It would be immodest if I included myself in the group of indispensable members by writing "we".

It's not grammar. It's logic. Only a woman can call men scum by writing: They are scum. A man should say the same by writing: Men are scum. I have done the latter, but never the former.

It would be helpful to include occupation in PF profiles - more so than where the poster resides or what language he speaks.

Anyone employed by the government would end up on my IGNORE list even before he had a chance to say the first word. 90% of them are brainless and spineless bootlickers as a condition of employment. Any attempt to engage them in a fact-based debate is doomed to fail. They are genetically immune to reason and logic. That is why Bobko and PAK, for example, stand out here in a good way...Again, just stating the obvious, not patronizing...

Because they want to know opinions of foreigners about Poland, they want to promote Poland, they want to practise English, they are interested in in ancestry...

Posting in English with Poles, instead of Polish, let's Russians show the rest of the world what we are dealing with.

OK, Rich, one way or another Poles are here to stay and they will be posting in English (mainly) and also in Polish. Learn to live with it. :)

I used to post in Italian on an Italian board, in French on a French board (though it was extremely annoying - a form of masochism I suppose, kinda like Bobko posting here), in German on a German board (though my command of the Teutonic language is very rudimentary), and in English on a Turkish board (from which I was banned three times). Not to mention several English/Scottish sport forums and countless Polish ones. Yes, I used to have way too much time on my hands and yes, I will keep doing posting wherever I want in whatever language I f*cking want.

And guess what - there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. :)

So with all these places out there, you ended up here...with a dozen posters repeating the same stuff over and over...and all the educational value down to zero since you already know what they are going to say before they do...Not a single poster here ever said: Hey, guys, I am ignorant and I need your help.

Something does not make sense here...The total absence of "Thanks, I didn't know that" proves that this forum has nothing to do with learning.

With internet boards it is like with Catholic parishes - small ones are better than big ones because people like to feel a meaningful part of something - in a parish of 300 souls, it's possible, in a 15,000 one (yes, they exist, even in Gdańsk), not really.

On PF we are all a part of a small online family. Unhappy and dysfunctional, but a family nonetheless.
