You seem to forget that Barney is from Northern Ireland and grew up during the Troubles. He has dealt with the reality of daily bombings, shootings, kidnappings and murders in a tiny community. You'd be better off asking him how he came to terms with it and how he manages to live in peace now with the same people who terrorized him during his childhood and formative years.

That`s why Israeli natio animals feel obliged to kill all those women and their babies and erase hospitals from the surface of the earth.

The reason why he didn't answer my simple question is always the same. Euro weasels, just like the BBC, dread appearing judgmental. That is why European weasels refer to Hamas terrorists as gunmen or militants. Calling them terrorists would be so unkind and non-Euro.

That is an interesting question....

IMHO, a big part of lasting peace between ethnic enemies is also the lack of possibility. Imagine there had been a german Hamas or IRA developed, a military terror/partisan/guerilla/whatever organization which had people mobilized to "take back our Heimat" for years, supported by someone foreign with money and means....

Or imagine there would be no peace in Ireland, the IRA would be still active, people would still be dying...children still educated in hate/war for freedom...whatever....would Barney still have "come to terms"? Or wouldn't he rather still hate and maybe support one side against the other?

But all that didn't happen....there are/were some political parties left but without any means and influence at all....the hate was/is surely still there but no possibilities to act on it.

I see it happen similar in the ME....the hate won't go away, at least not with this generation....but ending those who never stop kindling the fire is the biggest step for lasting peace, or rather lasting acceptance!

That can't be achieved in a few weeks or months - or at all, in fact. You will never eliminate terrorists. Northern Ireland attained peace by both sides agreeing to lay down their arms. They still exist but they remain largely dormant.
