If it isn't firearms it will be a knife or strangulation like in this case.
At least a bullet is instant.
WARSAW, Poland - Prosecutors in Poland say a man was charged with murder in the double homicide of a young female harpist and a security guard in the building of a philharmonic in western Poland.

The two victims were found dead Friday morning in separate areas of the building of the Lower Silesia Philharmonic in Jelenia Gora.
Niziolek said the harpist was strangled and the guard died of wounds to the head.

Same answer as to, "What then can be done to prevent further negligence deaths by doctors ?"
It's called part of life's reality that you need to get use to as there is no "safe room" available at the moment for it.

California decriminalized knowingly infecting a person with hiv.. Whether through sex or blood donation. This is just sick

.latimes.com/politics/essential/la-pol-ca-essential-politics-updates-gov-brown-downgrades-from-felony-to-1507331544-htmlstory.htm
Meanwhile another new bill states using the wrong 'pronoun' within a health care setting can result a 1k fine and 6-12 months in jail.

This means knowingly transmitting HIV to another person or blood bank has a lesser penalty than calling a person the wrong 'pronoun'

@Ironside

As well as cutting welfare and making people go to work instead of rewarding generational ineptitude and laziness.... If we could take all the dudes off the corners in Chicago, put em on a bus to work in a factory or somewhere else and I guarantee we'll have hardly any shootings..

Most of the violence and shootings that happen in the US are in bad areas and tend to be between blacks - not being racist but that the statistics confirm it. Most of the shootings occur between young black guys who have a beef with each other, shoot at each other because a guy looked at him wrong or wrote something on his facebook, or because the guy walked on 'his' block or any number of ridiculous things that normal people wouldn't shoot a person over.

You think Las Vegas was bad? Well, we live through this in my city every day. Just this year almost 3,000 people have been shot - 30 just the week and it's Tuesday. Thankfully it's getting colder now so perhaps when winter rolls around the amount of shootings will drop to half a dozen a day.

Out of all the homicides in Chicago this year, roughly a bit over 500 murders, 10 were in self defense, another 10 by police, 4 were suicides, and about 60 suspects were charged. That means out of over 500 murders, 460 had no suspect charged. Yet people want to take away the guns from the good guys - so that the 10 people who killed someone in self defense can be another unsolved homicide... You think the people who murdered 450-460 people this year in Chicago and were never caught give a flying f!@# about gun control? The only thing that will happen is guns will be slightly more expensive but not in the least bit less available. It's easier for a teen in the hood to buy a 9mm glock for as low as $50-$100 (if it has 'bodies' on it the price drops dramatically) than a pack of cigs from the arab guy running the local bodega.

Almost 80-90% of murders don't even result in a suspect being charged, let alone prosecuted and put in jail. Only about 10% of homicides are classified and 'cleared' as self defense, acceptable by police standards, a suspect was charged, or suicide/murder-suicide. That means roughly 90% (varies from 80-90% depending on amount of homicides in a year) of murders aren't cleared, they're not solved, no suspect is arrested (let alone prosecuted)... and people are going to tell me I can't own a gun for self defense!? **** that!

@Johnny, clearly you've either never been bullied as a youth or menaced by the dangers of gun violence (more than likely, have chosen to forget it, aided doubtless by either booze and/or the funny stuff!), therefore feel you've carte blanche once again to mouth off irresponsibly, let the chips fall where they may!

The reason that the weaker in our society never committed the wanton killings and abnormally excessive, pervy behavior fifty or more years ago as compared with what we unfortunately see all too often today, is that until the rise of Reagan, America still basked in the comfortable glow of the New Deal Era. The freedom to be average is sometimes the only real freedom some of us have. That doesn't make us less worthy than some flim-flam artist who was able to finagle him or herself into a mega deal maker. We all pay taxes, we all get sick, we all pass away. G_d makes no distinction here, so why should you?

If you're sick and tired of reading my posts on this, tell youse the G_d's honest truth, I'm just as sick to death of writin' em:-)

Dirk diggler

Seriously, all I'm saying is that every one of us needs help, at least some part of the time

Im all for a helping hand. There's a million things that can happen to the hardest working, most altruistic people. What I have a problem with is the generational welfare that's being freely given and promoted as 'free stuff' by the Dems and Socialists. They know how much the masses, especially uneducated minorities living in the hoods, love the word free. Yet none bother to ask who's going to pay for all this 'free' stuff. They don't care - it gets them votes. And with an ever diminishing middle class it's a great strategy.

The fact is that actually households over 200k make up the more of the tax revenue than any other income bracket including those who make over $1 mil a year. According to the IRS, in 2014, people with an AGI over $250,000 paid just over half (51.6%) of all individual income taxes, though they accounted for only 2.7% of all returns filed. Meanwhile, the lowest three brackets - under $15k, $15k to $29.9k, and $30k to $49.9k are 62.3% of all individual returns filed, but they paid just 5.7% of total taxes. Those who made between $100,000 and $200,000 paid 23.8% of the total tax liability in 2011, up from 18.8% in 2000. Filers in the $50,000-to-$75,000 group, on the other hand, paid 12% of the total liability in 2000 but only 9.1% in 2011

Yet the answer? Tax the middle, upper middle class, the wealthy, and give 'free' stuff to the rest as if they didn't get enough already. I am so sick of 40% of my checks being taken out so lazy ***** can sit at home, get drunk and high, drive a new car, get their 3 bedroom apartment with 3 kids all paid for and taken care of, and then some have the audacity to make youtube videos on how they don't work and yet are able to buy $150 Air Jordans... makes me sick!!!

You think I wanted to wake up at 5:30 AM to get to work on time just so 40% of what I make can take care of these bums (I mean actual bums - not people who are legitable disabled who typically only get a grand or so a month anyway - unlike the generational welfare recipients in the hood who receive close around 50k a year if you added all their stuff up)? No, I would've much rather spent the whole day watching TV and rolling blunts or even study for the finals I have next week so I could actually go out on a Friday/Saturday night for a change instead of doing homework.

Look, I know people reading this, especially Poles might think that $250,000 is 'rich.' However, I grew up with my mom making about that much for most of my life, and I can tell you unequivocally in the North East, you are far far far from rich. We lived in a house that was $460,000, and the property taxes were $14,000/year, or roughly $1,200/month. Then add in the cost of a car (ab $600/month), plus full coverage insurance which is $200/month or so, healthcare, food, entertainment, incidentals, education, and you can soon find yourself living paycheck to paycheck on that amount. You're 'comfortable,' but you are still 3 months away from ruin if something happens to you or you get laid off. That is why if we MUST have an income tax, a flat tax of 10% is the most fair, progressive taxation is immoral, in my opinion.

@TheOther
Are you implying owning a lot of guns means you're mentally unstable? I own about 60 firearms of varying type, caliber, brand, and model. They all have different purposes, some are collectors pieces, others are for hunting, target shooting, and of course self-defense.

Dirk diggler
11 Oct 2017  #1433

If you want to believe this article, "3% of Americans own half the country's 265 million guns".

I believe it. Most these people are collectors or as the article says '"super owners" who possessed an average of 17 guns each, it showed.' There's various youtubers who like FPSRussia who own tons of guns and even receive many to try out on youtube or even for free as a promotion from gun companies. These type of individuals have all the necessary permits - including the very stringent ATF ones to own automatics. Otherwise, the ATF would raid his place immediately and he'd face 20 years for possessing multiple autos.

The very first sentence of this article is also:

Despite steep declines in violent crimes, an estimated 70 million firearms were addedto American arsenals the past two decades, according to a new landmark study on gun ownership.

Furthermore:
The super owners consisted of an estimated 7.7 million Americans and owned between eight and 140 guns each. Nearly half of gun owners owned just one or two guns.

Some collectors buy guns and won't even put more than a few rounds (if any) through it because it diminishes the value.

Dirk diggler
11 Oct 2017  #1434

The people who own the 1 or 2 illegal guns are the ones I'm concerned about. Not the enthusiast or collector who knows about gun safety and has the proper licenses. It is ridiculously easy to obtain an illegal firearm. It's as simple as buying a bag of weed here. This hasn't changed in decades - in the 90's we had stricter laws than California and absolutely no concealed carry yet that was the most violent decade. It's about how you use a gun. Back in the 60's and 70's gang bangers would fight with their fists and sometimes bats, knives, etc. Very rarely was a gun ever introduced into a fight. Since the 80's crack epidemic it changed culminating in the most violent decade the city has had. Since the 90's, the rates have been roughly the same despite the laws changing numerous times. In fact, its far easier to get a gun legally now than 10-20 years ago when CC was illegal and there were no gun stores in the city. However, the prevalence of illegal firearms hasn't changed one bit with the laws. It makes absolutely no difference. People traffic literally crates full of firearms.

That's right ... some are, but most are not. So why do the others need so many guns?

Are you implying owning a lot of guns means you're mentally unstable?

A crazy prepper will tell you that the 100 rifles and twenty AK 47 in his basement are for hunting and target practice only, and then he decides to make a little weekend trip to Las Vegas.

Dirk diggler

That's right ... some are, but most are not. So why do the others need so many guns?

Most gun owners aren't enthusiasts though. The enthusiasts according to this article yes do own more guns than the average gun owner because that's their hobby. Most people wouldn't spend tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars if they weren't an enthusiast, collector, etc. and go through all the processes which cost quite a bit of money to be compliant with the law so as not to get a felony. I spend a lot of money on traveling because I enjoy it as well as cars because those are my hobbies. Most people don't switch or buy cars every few months, but enthusiasts, collectors, etc. like myself do. Same thing with guns - that's their hobby it's their thing. Most people who own guns own 1 or 2. As far as total guns in the US, yes most of them will be owned by collected and enthusiasts. It's the same with other hobbies - say 60's Pontiac GTO' (or vintage GM's and Fords for that matter) - most are in the hands of enthusiasts and collectors who most likely own multiple vehicles rather than non enthusiasts that drive a 67 GTO as their daily driver.

A crazy prepper will tell you that the 100 rifles and twenty AK 47 and then he decides to make a little weekend trip to Las Vegas.

His own brother said he wasn't a gun enthusiast, collector, etc.

So are you against all gun ownership, owning over a certain amount of guns, owning certain firearms (people can purchase bolt action/pump action/semi autos but full autos require special permits from ATF)? What is it exactly that bothers you about the 2nd amendment and peoples' rights to self defense? The bad guys will obtain guns regardless - even in Japan the Yakuza have guns including sub machine guns and will use them if they need to while the average citizen can't purchase a BB gun without a license. There was a shooting earlier this year in Chicago where 10 people were shot in 1 driveway - more than likely with illegal guns as no one with half a brain uses a registered firearm for a homicide (unless they plan on committing suicide or shooting it out with police at the end) kids in columbine obtained their guns illegally, the Paris massacres were committed by terrorists with illegal ak-47s, the this Vegas guy purchased his guns legally while in Sandy Hook the guy apparently obtained the guns through his mother who legally owned them. In any case, all resulted in massacres but their methods of obtaining weapons all differed from legal to illegal. It's what you do with said guns - same as with a car, knife, stick of dynamite, etc. You can turn anything into a deadly weapon. As we see in Europe now with severe gun control terrorists are now using vans which cause just as much death and injury as a firearm and I'd say is even harder to stop than a single shooter on foot.

OMG you stabbed a guy!? Wtf did you do that for?
OMG you ran a guy over!? Wtf did you do that for?
OMG you shot a guy! Ban the guns!

This is just deflecting personal responsibility. Like the population statistic I cited earlier - a bit over 500 murders in 2017 in Chicago. 10 were in self defense, 10 by Police, 4 suicide, the remainder all homicides with nearly 90% of the homicides remaining unsolved with no suspect arrested. And these unsolved cases just pile on year after year after year.

You don't like guns then don't own one.
I like guns so I will own one.
Like 99.9% of legal law abiding gun owners I will not shoot you unless you threaten my life or come into my home uninvited.
Some crazy breaks into your house looking for money, painkiller drugs, to rape then you have the right to call the police to respond in ten or twenty minutes after the perps are gone and they have taken what they want, hurt whoever they wanted, killed whoever they wanted in hopes they haven't killed any of your family.

Me and my two buddy's (Smith & Wesson) have a little bit of a different approach to the pursuit of happiness then you do by leveling the playing field.

Now let's get back on topic because there is nothing more to say about our 2cd amendment right.
