Every victimized group tends to see their losses big and bigger...that's only natural. Poles make no difference...I remember reading about how the Poles after the war heightened their own losses by adding all the people "vanished" outside of "moved westwards" Poland like then Ukraine, Belorussia etc. They were no longer Poles or in Poland, right...but they weren't murdered either. Still they were included in the Polish deaths - list.

As I see it there will never be an exact number...how could it be. It is impossible to re-check the fate of every human being during this chaotic time, with so much destruction and with the cold war curtain coming down so soon. Especially with the Jews living all over the place.

In life, there are three categories of things we should not do: stupid, immoral and illegal. The zero idiots are in the stupid category right next to those who believe that the moon is actually another kind of cheese. No sense arguing with them.

The "only 100,000" guys are immoral as they know, or should know, that such estimates upset a lot of people. Still no reason to throw them in prison.

When this subject is discussed, there should never be an illegal group. Civil suits filed for slander or libel? Maybe. But criminal with the full power of the state coming down like a ton of bricks just because someone's feelings are hurt? No way.

Or both. Perhaps he was in a rebellious phase when he came to this conclusion and decided to stick with it. His views (according to Wikipedia) that there was no plan to exterminate the jews, that the genocide stopped in 1943 and that perhaps 4,000,000 is nothing anyone who had a proper look on the evidence would say.

With evidence I do not mean the "flashy" evidence tourists see in Ausschwitz, but the written evidence, testimonies and so on. The evidence is so overwhelming in this area that no historian can dispute them. If you are interested, I could recommend you a decent book about it, written by someone who has read all the documents, instead of some youtube videos where everybody can sprout his lies.

The Shoah is perhaps the most thoroughly documented period in modern history, with 'neutral' (if one can be neutral about that subject) eyewitnesses, with survivors and with documentation (including photographic) by those who perpetrated it. Signed confessions too from people who took part, and independent numerical estimates of victims which have been largely consistent over the decades.

There are many orders and reports about the "succesful" elimination of jews. As to why no such order from Hitler was ever sound, there are many plausible explanations for this, which you will find in any good book about the Holocaust. A quick google search even suffices.

There are however several documents and testimonies that prove that the Holocaust was desired from the top. The Wannsee protocol. Himmler's speech in Posen. And so on.


Which was de facto a genocidal plan. Madasgacar, an island that back then could only sustain a few thousand people, mostly uninhabitable, full of deadly diseases. And they wanted to send millions of people there, who had never lived in such a clima, without proper supply and no existing infrastructure.

Before the real exterminations took place after 1939, it was obvious that Hitler wanted Jews out of Germany. Not killed. Just out. With all the violence against them, personally and their properties, all doubt was gone at some point. Why not just leave?

Second question: was there an economic or a power reason why Hitler wanted them out? Major events are usually triggered by one or the other or both. We interned Japs not because they were short and liked sushi.

Even assimilated Jews found their way ineluctably to the Death Camps. That's really the crying shame of it all; try as many did, they weren't "pure" enough for the Nazis!
