Except for the Polish blues band that Joker posted, I haven't really seen anything that wouldn't be considered mainstream. Mainstream 1970s, mainstream 1980's, mainstream ... . I know the thread title is "popular Polish music", but wasn't there anything experimental coming from Poland? I mean, like psychedelic, jazz rock or something quirky like Hawkwind? Doug, you've been there long enough. Any thoughts?

There is a lot of Prog Rock, Reggae and Rap in Poland right now.
Also a lot of Celtic Music.
Not sure that any of those are your thing really, but you might like this.

Well sure. Troubadurzy and Czeslaw Nieman did Psychedelic - to a point - but I wasn't here then! Jazz rock, SBB comes to mind.

Listening to Yes at the moment - Polish bands are OK I guess, but as the hero in writer Alan Sillitoe's "A start in life" famously said, looking at pron is alright, but you can't beat the real thing.

I'm not a fan of his solo stuff at all. I saw Myslovitz years ago and enjoyed them, but his solo stuff just sounds dire in comparison.

There's a decent jazz and blues club in wroclaw I've been to a few times. Mostly older crowd but still fun.

I am "mostly older" Dirk, so I would probably enjoy it :-)

I loved them all for diffferent reasons.
Funny how this forum is,I never had you down as a fan of music,but you obviously are.
But what is the point you are trying to make?
Is it that Popular Polish music is in some ways similar to Chansons Francaise?

Some Polish music has the same vibe like some French music. Nothing more nothing less.

As someone who has very strong connections with both Poland and France, I would say that you are spot on.
Furthermore, your insight intrigues me, because you are the first poster on PF that has noticed this connection besides myself.
Poland and France of course have a very long, mutual, history.

Because of this forums obsession with converting embeded videos to links,,I don't remember if I have posted these videos before, so my apologies if I have.

But I post these in reference to the thread about tower blocks and tenement blocks in Poland.
As I have said before, it is not about the people that live there, it is that I feel they deserve better.
These types of estates are probably worse in Western Europe, especially The UK and France.
But that is no reason for Polish politicians to turn a blind eye to the standard of housing offered to too many Poles.
My family and friends in Poland are lucky, they all live in houses.
