I don't know why, I am a freedom loving traveller, who once had very long hair and rode motorbikes!
From Madonna's later songs I like this one
And so do I.I am no great fan of Madonna, though I have quite liked some of her songs.IMHO the video you posted is ten times better that anything Taylor Swift has ever done.
Really? Why? I thought that you guys don't like pop here :)
I am no great fan of Madonna, though I have quite liked some of her songs.
I can't say I'm a fan either, although I liked some of her songs a lot, and, obviously, they're classics nowadays.
IMHO the video you posted is ten times better that anything Taylor Swift has ever done.
I do think that video is original and well done, although cg effects would be better done these days, obviously (they're still very good for those times, I think). As for Taylor Swift videos - I doubt you have seen that many of them - I mean, even I haven't seen that many even though I'm not prejudiced against her :)))
Also, take into account that Madonna's video was made by professionals, while those two videos I posted were directed by Taylor Swift herself. You think you can do better than her? :) I think that she did great considering that she's a complete amateur (I am not aware of her having any film education).
Paulina, despite of, or maybe because of the things JRJim says about you,I am certain that you are a perfectly nice woman. But we don't share musical tastes. It's probably the age difference.... I am probably old enough to be your father(Just!)......continuing my "Ride like the wind" theme, where both versions were liked, I have a small handful of biker related tunes for you.People generalise about bikers and especially the Hell's Angels but I got to know many of them when I was younger and yes, they can be prone to violence when provoked, but in general, they are pretty peaceful, freedom loving types. And they have very strict moral codes. This video just hints at their moral codes.
I don't know, because I haven't researched it, but the soundtrack of this one sounds like an Irish American band to me.
But we don't share musical tastes. It's probably the age difference.... I am probably old enough to be your father(Just!).....
Maybe, although I've seen comments from men after 50, present and former "metalheads", even war veterans, who like Taylor Swift music, so go figure... :)
You think you can do better than her? :)
Actually, I've just read that she won a GRAMMY for one of her music videos she directed herself (I haven't seen this one yet)! :O:
This one is a bit weird, but good, it is RL Burnside, an American with clips of both British and American bikers. The British clips are mainly of the "Ton up Boys" coming out of The famous Ace Cafe in Park Royal in the late fifties and sixties and doing the "Ton up". A "Ton" in English English means 100mph, so "Ton up" meant over that. I can't add anything about the American clips but I used to go to Speedway at Wembley stadium to watch our "local" team the Wembley Lions. Four bikes racing around a dirt track and so loud that you could not talk to the person standing next to you!!
I will end by saying that riding a motorbike is DANGEROUS, but until you have tried it, you will never feel that sense of FREEDOM that a car, even an open top, just doesn't give you.....
We have some Blues fans on PF but not many Hard Rock or Heavy Metal fans. So, in these depressing times I thought we could go back to the late seventies and early eighties and some Pop Music, when one band seemed to be in the UK charts all the time and this London band from Camden Town had a sense of humour too..... I am talking about Madness.....
She's apparently most valued for her lyrics and I get it why - they're often clever and sometimes hit you hard
I'm not disputing what you're saying but as there isn't a single song of hers I've liked I've never paid any attention to what she's singing about. To me the songs are nothing outstanding.

I'm not keen on Madonna much either but I agree with you on this one. It has a very haunting melody. I do like Pawian's choice though, Hung Up. Probably as it's based on Abba :)
I'm surprised by how decent the Saxon cover is.
It's not half bad but I think I always tend to go for original versions.
I am a freedom loving traveller, who once had very long hair and rode motorbikes!
Which is why I always tend to associate you with heavy metal and occasional blues.
I know a fair bit about the biker lifestyle too given that I once rode bikes and had a biker partner who was an MC club member. Much of what you say about bikers is true but what I will say, and this may be more true of bikers in the states, is that their women are viewed as property. Bikers can be very sexist.
The original biker song....
Played to death unfortunately. I preferred this one of theirs:

I do like it, I mean - it's a good song, it's fun, but it doesn't really do anything for me. I wouldn't put it on the radio or YouTube just to listen to it - I'd get bored. I don't know, maybe I'm not really that much into disco music from the 70's/80's? But I understand that people who grew up with it can be nostalgic about it :)
From the more "dancy" songs that were inspired by a song from the 80's I remember that I really liked this one when I was young:
Nelly Furtado said that she was inspired by the Eurythmics' song "Here Comes the Rain Again" (I like that song too).
There has been a lot of talk about Pop Music on this thread recently, but this is where I will probably alienate some of the younger members of PF, because my idea of Pop Music is very different from theirs, partly because most of my posts are from before they were born! But hey, let's give it a go!
Back in the sixties if bands wanted a harder edge to their sound they turned to Rock, nowadays, bands tend to lean to Rap, which, for the most part, I can't stand. So I'll end my sixties Pop Music posts with a few Rockier tunes......
Two real rockers from The Kinks to end my posts with........
My last post tonight, did you notice how many of these songs were so good that that were covered by other artists later?I am thinking Gary Moore and Van Halen but I am sure there were others too.....
partly because most of my posts are from before they were born!
The only one I know from that trio is the Herman's Hermits track! Liked The Kinks songs but my favourite of theirs is 'Lola'. Santana's version of She's Not There I prefer to The Zombies.
does anyone else like them?
Not my kind of music I'm afraid :(
maybe I'm not really that much into disco music from the 70's/80's?
That Madonna track is from 2005! Unless you mean the Abba song which Madonna sampled on it? That was a 70s song.
I quite liked some of the 70s disco stuff. I loved the band Chic and Nile Rodgers is a great guitarist still going today. Donna Summer was pretty good too but I get the feeling that not too many people participating in this thread would be fans of disco music........
Not a badly sung song but far too cheesy and soppy for me......
@Feniks
I only really liked your AWB post, although T connection were OK.
it would be a boring world if we all liked the same kind of music.
So true and this thread is a great opportunity to open people's eyes to some new music.
@Feniks
Went down a more funky route with her posts, let's see if I can dig up any you like.......
This is one from my youth, as a young man I loved Funk as much as Rock and even hosted a Pirate Radio show called the "Rock and Soul Show"
Here's another one from my ill spent youth.......
The overwhelming feeling I am getting as I make these music posts is that those were much happier days than now and it's making me feel quite sad........ Yes, I know we were young back then, but we didn't have any major problems, the world was fairly peaceful, employment was great and houses were still affordable........I fear for my kids generation(Early Thirties)
Nile Rodgers was a genius and this was a classic tune from the time.
My posts are now moving well into the mid eighties, a time when I was having the time of my life...... little did I know that four years later I would have a mortgage and be dad to a little girl.......
[youtube=https://www.youtu.be/]
Another absolute classic!
I'll end my posts tonight with this one........ heavy........
Do you really need me to explain the terms "Cheesy" and "Soppy" to you?I don't think you do."Soppy" may be a word an American might not be familiar with, it means self idulgently sentimental...... only extremist religious people will love this type of song, christians and muslims alike, who have a blind faith. And "Blind" is the operative word here.Sorry, but the song was far too sickly sweet and too condescending to an unknown "God" or "Allah" for my liking.......
only extremist religious people will love this type of song, christians and muslims alike,
So since Christians make up 31% of the worlds population and Muslims make up 25% of the worlds population for a total of 56 % of the worlds population that equals over 4 Billion extremist religious people who have Faith that love this music yet you claim that your unknown God makes it too "sickly sweet" for your satanic liking because your Milo lack Faith as a mere minority in this world. Thank you for explaining yourself, now I understand what your problem is. All I can do is pray for your lost soul that your heart softens so you see the light before you go home to meet your Maker. Here is another one for you and it will be the last one from me tonight. This one brings tears to my eyes.
Yup! A very slight majority of the world does disagree with me,but that doesn't make me wrong.I never thought I'd see the day when you got into bed with muslims over faith......that song you just posted was slightly better, because it was well written and well sung but as soon as they started to sing about God and Jesus,I started to feel ill.....
The problamatic Poster has arrived Ha, just like clockwork, right on your daily 9:45 entrance time here on the P.F.
A very slight majority of the world does disagree with me
If you call 80% slightly while only 20% agree with you then it's your story.
but as soon as they started to sing about God and Jesus,I started to feel ill.....
That was Satan in your guts going ballistic hearing Jesus Christs name over and over. Thank you for your personal opinion on your feedback even though it shows just how ignorant you are. 🤡 So with that said Mr. Angry, 👺 I am out of here until after you go to bed at midnight. Then us adults can continue again without your immature attacks, diminishments and insults.🤣
