She plays American Blues though, so not really serbian.

Very true.

According to Crow, American Blues actually came from Serbia.

LOL!!! According to Crow EVERYTHING came from Serbia!!!!

Which version of the song has a better French accent?

I can't answer that question. But what your posts prove is that you have a superb knowledge of French culture and especially music.
You either still live in France or lived there for quite a long time.
I loved both your posts and grammatical mistakes mean nothing to me,both posts sounded very French to me.
But if you are going to be super critical, the Gimms song has a slight African accent, which is now very common in France,so the second video had the better French accent.

On reflection, I think Gimms sounds more French than the second song.
His African accent is the problem, but the second video, although she has a very good accent, proves that she is not French.

Gary Moore played with Thin Lizzy before he turned into a Bluesman.

Gary Moore played with Thin Lizzy before he turned into a Bluesman.

And what a brilliant post that was, thank you!

Scott Gorham was the other guitarist of course, Phil Lynott on bass and I noticed Coxy Powell on drums.... what a band!Don't know who was on keyboards.

@Feniks I can't believe that you don't like this post by @Joker

It is both musically and lyrically superb.

????

I haven't mentioned anything about Joker's posts. I only mentioned that I didn't like one of your Polish blues posts on the other thread because it had too much of a Gary Moore vibe going on.

I do like Blues music but primarily Delta blues. Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker and early Muddy Waters for example.
Joker got me into Robert Cray, but he's probably the only modern day bluesman who's songs I've really liked.

Everyone has different tastes in music... How about Howlin Wolf, Koko Taylor or Willie Dixon?

How about Howlin Wolf

I do like Howlin' wolf.

Here's the only filmed recording of him singing Smokestack Lightning:

I also like Sonny Boy Williamson ( Alex Miller )

What about Lightning Hopkins? From East Texas which is not that different from the Delta....The only problem with this recording is that it's a little too smooth and pretty

I also really like Elmore James (king of the slide guitar) with a compelling voice. It sounds like it was recorded in a tin shack but... it works....

What about Lightning Hopkins?

Yes, I like him too :) I should've made a list of all the bluesmen I like. Plus instruments. Love slide guitar and harmonica.

I haven't heard so much by him but I really like that track. To be honest, the tin shack sound appeals to me more, almost like being there and listening to it. More authentic sound. Most of the blues stuff I have is on vinyl and I don't have a record player anymore. You can't beat vinyl IMO.I doubt I'll ever get to the US, but if I did I would be heading for the Deep South, for the music and the food :)

There's some really great American music out there....

@Miloslaw
Looks like you are stuck in the worst record shop ever in about 1974, suppose you had DLT on radio 1 as a backup.

It's pointless criticising someone's musical taste however you can criticise someone with a very narrow, limited range which you have displayed since appointing yourself arbitrator. Not liking country, punk, funk or dance etc doesn't exhibit good taste, on the contrary it draws a self limiting line you are afraid to cross. How many times have you witnessed someone coming round to "something different" about 30 years later? I would guess never.

if I did I would be heading for the Deep South

The southern states are by far the most interesting but You would be very disappointed, there is no "authentic " blues guys any more. Most moved north back in the day (60 years ago) for work, there is no more gospel or soul in the Black churches. The food all across America is standardised now. You will get a load of advertising of Cajun sauce or Deep South barbecue etc but it's like going to London and expecting carnaby street to still be swinging.

The US is, or was an interesting place to visit however as a European you are faced with an overwhelming impression that its old fashioned in many many ways which probably seems counterintuitive. The formerly distinct regional identities are almost gone along with their accents. The South is probably an outlier here but is becoming like the homogenous blob.

You are obviously an idiot.

I love Country and Funk, after Blues and Rock they are my favourite genres.I do like some Punk and Dance too.

Some great country music,I admit most of these songs are modern country and not the "Classic" stuff, but it's still good stuff.

Country Metal.......

I'll end with some Country Rock Rap.......

I didnt even know such noise existed, no thanks...

Please dont play Beyonce`s sad attempt at country.

I'm not entirely surprised you said that. Quite often ideas don't match up with the reality. Sad, but times change. I doubt it's likely I will get there anyway but that region was only one of two I would be really interested in visiting.

Sad, but times change

Indeed.

Have you heard any African blues music? Especially from Mali.

A friend who's very much into blues (and makes instruments and performs it) heard some I played him. He didn't think he'd like it at first, saw it as World Music, but after listening loved it.

jon357

More authentic sound. Most of the blues stuff

Here's a nice singer. He's actually a Bambara from the southern edge of the country, close to Mauritania where I first heard this sort of stuff, so not the most typical, but still nice.

It's very good.

Hey, stupid, only white people know how to compose music.

Are you really such a narrow minded bigot or do you just play the part?

I'm not entirely surprised you said that.

I didnt think you would be, I am lucky in that I have friends and family in the great satan so could visit relatively cheaply. Europe is a much better place to visit especially now that the center and east has opened again. The US is no big shake, there are some nice looking places but thats about it.
