Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades

mafketis

still the only country which could kick everybody's ass....

which is why the US hasn't actually won a war since.... when? the mighty US army couldn't even defeat a bunch of medieval goat fvkcers in Afghanistan....

Multiculturalism worked in the US until the country outgrew the need for it.

the US was never multicultural in the times of its greatest success (as in the mid 20th century great compression).

It was indifferent to national origin of immigrants as long as immigrants assimilated publicly to a single set of socio-political norms. That's very different.

Multiculturalism simply cannot work if the cultures involved don't share enough assumptions about how the world and the country should work or if there's not a uniform 'national' culture that arrivals are expected to assimilate (not integrate) into...

@Bratwurst Boy
Military strength in technology or numbers is not an indication of the "health" or "success" of any nation. You're right that not one EU country could do much of anything. So why doesn't the EU have their own military for the "union"? Because that is another thing that most countries do not want from EU membership. Germany would veto that move quicker than anyone else.

If it were, then Russia and China would be great examples. The US military is a business just like any other business, and it generates hundreds of thousands of jobs along with billions of dollars. That's why it is so great to own Boeing stock during any war. The US military loves to be hired guns to fight other peoples war's. It is the worlds police force because so many other countries don't have the stomach for killing. Do you know who the great majority of US military recruits are? They sure are not the cream of the educated crop in the US, and it sure is multicultural.

Maf, you cleaned up the multicultural side of things better than I.

Germany would veto that move quicker than anyone else.

Germany would love to have an European army under their own command, I think. And first of all getting most (all?) of this army's supplies from German industries

multicultural US

What is really wrong with the USA... When I say the USA I mean the mainstream USA that lives in the big cities or highly urbanized areas. And I mean LIVES. Not born. Why? Because policy makers and opinion makers come from this region.

So here is the list:

1) Almost complete destruction of family values:

Cause: Degenerate morality due to mistaken interpretation of sciences and complete rejection of religion without a proper substitute.

Effect: Children without guidance and parental care who are easily misled.

2) Dependence on the political hegemony for economic growth:

Cause: Because of the post WW2 era prosperity, the roots of the massive industrial growth are forgotten. These roots were in good work ethics where no particular type of work was considered a low-tier profession. Now, nobody wants to work and still expects money to magically appear from nowhere.

Effect: Everybody wants to be a state-funded artist. Nobody wants to work in factories or become self-reliant businessmen or entrepreneurs.

3) Fetishism:

Cause: Too much attention towards brands and cool-factor due to powerful marketing methods employed by media and the Hollywood.

Result: Bankrupt people.

Any solutions?

None. They are going to take the western world with them (and some of the eastern world too) if people outside the US do not realize en masse, that they are importing bad culture from the US (although one is hard pressed to call it culture).

So why doesn't the EU have their own military for the "union"?

That would need members willing to integrate their militaries...to spend money and people on it.....and who will be the officers, the leader? Would you accept a german or a french superior officer or would that be to much for you? :)

Common borders, defended by a common military, supplied by a common industry etc.....
= Federation!
You can name it like you want but the fact stands....you can't have one without the other!

Germany would love to have an European army under their own command, I think.

A european army should have the best of the best Europe can provide....that won't be all Germans, heh:)

@Korvinus
Clearly you have not lived in the US. Like most Europeans you love to watch Hollywood and the news to dream up what it is like. Similar to what most people in the US do with Europe. Under your points, Poland would have numbers 2 and 3 down to an area of expertise, and number 1 is not far behind. Substitute what exactly in place of religion? Science?

The EU will never have a common military because of the issues you actually bring up @Bratwurst Boy no one will agree to it, and no one would ever let Germany be in charge for even 5 minutes. But with your current leadership you will never have to worry because they are sheep who when the wolf comes knocking on their neighbors door, they send the neighbor some cookies.

...then stop crying over a weak Germany which only looks out for itself...as does every other european country.

Quarreling sheep, ripe for the plucking by every half way determined wolf!

Stupid as ****!

PS: But there is hope...there are alot of Europeans and more and more govs who have seen the signs on the horizon!

Germany has been neutered. Sending helmets and not allowing other countries to send military aid because it originates in Germany. Nazi guilt. Looking out for their own gas supply. I wonder how quickly that becomes a war target?

For all of PiS problems at least they are doing something.

It is worth noting that Germany is working with other NATO partners as a framework nation and commands e.g. a German-Dutch Brigade. I don't know who would be best suited as a leader, though there could be worse choices than a German. The French would probably want to use an European army for their colonial adventures in Africa. No matter who leads, the restrain Germany would contribute would be hugely important, especially in the light of adventurism shown by other countries including Poland in the last years.

That being said, a rotation principle in which each of the mayor countries gets the leadership, while others serve e.g. at the general staff seem the most realistic option.

doing something.

Doing nothing is sometimes better than doing something wrong.

Great posts. All of them. Russia has to be handled by the EU alone and to the total exclusion of the US. Once some balance is reached and Russia is out of targets like Ukraine, Western Europe can exhale. It's the presence of the US aka NATO that makes Russia nervous. Send Americans packing and you will be fine.

A european army

Look enough of that nosense. Germany act on its own in their own interest, the way they want. Using as a screen smoke European this or that if and when it is convenient for them.

Green policy, north stream those are prime examples of the above. Where is EU complex common energy policy? Wouldn't that be great for all countries to have a common, diverse sources of energy, be it coal, atomic, gas and many others?

It would make Russia helpless.
Would that be sesible and logical and all there? No they had to go for some plan where they wanted to be Russia dealer in Europe and to have an upper hand on the top of bieng the first econamical power.

At the same time they want to have USA out of Europe.
How they can see it working without a big Army? They need to make a deal with Russia. That deal includes hand over Ukraine, then Baltic states, then sidekick Poland. Poland cannot have strong army/economy in this scenario.

What the next step - German nukes, German big army? If not for some resons then what?
I have thought that Germany play the long game and they are quite good at that. Now, I don't think they have it covered.

No matter how good Russian - German partnership is to be. Strong dominat Russia and Germany with the EU without nukes and army, it is only matter of time when Russia will rule here.

There is a lot of trust in there.
Its stupid!

no Poland needs to be russia again, it needs to be partof the empire again rather than gold diggers trying to be west. like it was for over 130 yrs. serbia and poland. if baltics then why not poland too? who are you kidding thinking this is some civilized country worth preserving or europe even wants?

On the place of Ukrainian president, I would make an ultimatum to the World - either Germny grants all Ukrainians with German citizenship or Ukraine creates the lagest nuclear arsenal in the World to protect itself from any kind of enemies.

Only Germany paints itself into a corner and shuts down their nuclear plants before the new pipeline is approved. This is how stupid German leadership is, sticking to an energy timeline that is completely not sustainable.

Russian empire again. I dont think so. The country cant even feed themselves. Unless you are a criminal or an oligarch or both, you dont have much. The economy is a joke, and their military is all they have over Europe. Remember, Russians are not Europeans.

Putin, though a strong leader is incompetent when it comes to economic foundations. Russia cant even figure out how to mine all the gold and diamond reserves in Siberia which are the largest in the world. Instead they look at imperialism? Just stupid activity to keep the citizens occupied thinking about anything other than their current dismal situation.

Russian empire again.

Russia, Poland and Serbia have capacity to become empires. Its a fact. Entire Europe belongs to us. Its just by some tragic historical error western Europe to become so powerful at one moment in history. But now its over. Things coming to normalcy.

You live in a fantasyland inside your head... This will NEVER happen! LOL

Poles dont care about Serbia and hate Russia, so keep dreaming commie chink flag kisser.

Where did you take it from? What problem do they have with mining? Wikipedia says that Russian gold deposites are only 3-d in the World at 5,300 tons, after Australia and S.Africa You need take cost of production in account as well. Not all ores are easy to mine.

This is really hard to explain. Russia excels in math and science. They were first in so many cases where technology was critical. Their fighter planes are faster than ours. They can hire the best brains from the West. Something is not adding up. Any ideas?

Na ja....not in PISA!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programme_for_International_Student_Assessment#PISA_2018_ranking_summary

The western kids are alot better than the Russians in math (#31), science (#34) and reading (#30).....not to mention the asian brats....

(I wonder about the good mid positions of Germany....one could think german pupils are nearly illiterate and unable to count without using their fingers leaving school)

Yeah....the specialists.....all countries have them....but you can't make a whole school system better with a genius programmer or a chess champion!

That's why PISA is so interesting....it pits the mainstream kids in the average schools against each other....that tells alot more about the common, broad education.

PISA is so interesting....it pits the mainstream kids in the average schools against each other...

Not necessarily... and it doesn't work so well for countries with strong regional differences and/or a lot of ethno-racial diversity....

Ethnic Russians do pretty well (especially in urban environments) but a lot of Russia is small, isolated towns and lots of non-Russians who don't... excel at academia....

Bratwurst Boy
31 Jan 2022  #327

Welcome to western Europe.....in case you don't know, in many german schools, especially in the bigger cities, half of the school kids don't even command the german language....not to mention that the mostly muslim newcomers come not exactly with an academic tradition either...

I'm fairly sure without these many migrant kids Germany could achieve Polands successes (#10, #12, #10)!

They come with academic traditions.... the problem is they're mostly useless for a modern industrialized country. Memorizing the quran.... how useful is that?

Oh and science has to contradict the quran which is fully of nutty stuff.... so.... it's not great....

.but you can't make a whole school

This time Vlad won.
I meant those who matter in creating advanced anything. If you mean average numbers, the US is #30 in these categories but still the world's #1 superpower because our best is still better than anybody.
