It is hard for proud Russians right now.....and never forget, dangerous too. One wrong word and they can vanish in a dark place.

Has it ever been? I don't recall any period in history when people from all over the world would try to get to Russia at all cost, like they are trying to get to the EU or the USA.

I think Internet will be the decisive factor here. People in Russia will slowly and gradually realise that they don't have to be (or pretend to be) brainwashed peasants, licking the tsar's arse, and they will eventually rise against their oppressors. I wouldn't like to be in Putinists' shoes then - there will be no villa with golden toilets, no mansion and no yacht where they will be able to hide. :)

I'm a bit concerned about the masses of Russians leaving....

Russia suffers an enormous braindrain since centuries already, but now again everybody who can leaves....that are mostly those with education, money, connections to the West....the elite!

What stays is hardly "revolutionary"-material...I fear.....

To attack the most vulnerable - babies, children, pregnant women, and those already suffering from illness and disease, and health workers risking their own lives to save lives - is an act of unconscionable cruelty.

Since the start of the war, 31 attacks on health care have been documented via the WHO's Surveillance System for Attacks on Health Care. In 24 incidents health care facilities were damaged or destroyed, while in 5 cases ambulances were damaged or destroyed. These attacks have led to at least 12 deaths and 34 injuries, and affected access to and availability of essential health services.

The health system in Ukraine is clearly under significant strain, and its collapse would be a catastrophe. Every effort must be made to prevent this from happening."

Sorry to see you go. This thread has been eye opening for me, as well. In the end, it's made me understand better how they see us - and I realize I don't have as much trouble with this as I expected. In the past it might have bothered me to argue for Russia's belonging in Europe, or Slavdom. Not any more. Russia is Russia - with 200 nationalities living under our roof, this is our strength.

The woman that Velund is talking about (the model) is alive and she have birth to a healthy baby. The other one (the one on the photo you posted) has died from injuries (her baby died too). There were also other casualties - one child and two adults got killed during the attack on that maternity hospital and more than a dozen people got injured:
