Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades

Miloslaw
8 Feb 2022  #571

Putin though, we can agree on he is a strong leader

Yes he is.

Strong leadership does not mean intelligent leadership

True.

If Putin invades Ukraine he will prove once and for all that he is an idiot.
I don't believe he's an idiot, so he won't invade Ukraine.
But you know what Russians are like.....he may prove me wrong...

If Putin invades Ukraine he will prove once and for all that he is an idiot.

That's why he will not "invade Ukraine". Did the pro-Western thugs "invade Ukraine" in 2014? All he needs to do is to uninstall what they installed then.

No need to kill one Ukrainian.

Miloslaw

Did the pro-Western thugs "invade Ukraine" in 2014?

In what way did they invade?

Novichok
8 Feb 2022  #574

I just said they didn't. Yet, the country switched its orientation to pro-West. Putin can do the same in reverse without any bloodshed.

Miloslaw
8 Feb 2022  #575

I just said they didn't

Got it.Misunderstood your post.

Putin can do the same in reverse

Nah, he needs to back down, as he has a poor hand and can't bluff his way out.

If I`m Biden I would simple kindly ask Russia to accept USA dictate. What else. As my grandmother used to say, nice word opening even iron gate.

If I`m Biden I would simple kindly ask Russia to accept USA dictate.

That's it? Dictate what?
If I were Putin, I would kindly tell Biden to shove it up his American ass and ask him to look at the map and tell me what fu*cking business the country that went to Vietnam, Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, and Afghanistan and still occupies part of Cuba has in telling me how to protect Russia's interests.

Bratwurst Boy
9 Feb 2022  #578

Na ja....people usually want the US there and are sad to see them leave....Cubans flee in boats to Florida....remember the last day at the Kabul airport? Like Vietnam as the US left...

Somehow I never see that with Russia...quite the contrary Ukrainians hope the US stationes troops there, nobody wants the Russians to protect them..

There IS a difference!

(but I admit I'm pro-USian biased)

Died while in Polish hands.

To be precise - starved to death in a solitary cell, after refused to sign what polish schlachta and collaborant boyars required from him. And his death had grave consequences to Poland, some of them last till present time.

My post 577 was not about what people wanted but about what the US did - cross borders illegally and shoot. They didit in Panama, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

From Russia's perspective, what Ukrainians want is irrelevant. What is relevant to Russia is what was relevant to the USSR in 1960 - American rockets in Turkey. So they gave the US the taste of the same in Cuba in 1962.

Bratwurst Boy
9 Feb 2022  #581

From Russia's perspective, what Ukrainians want is irrelevant.

One could at least try to combine power goals with peoples wills.....the US has always been alot smarter in that than.....say.....Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia....one main reason why the West won the Cold War....and why Putin is losing the rest of Europe!

Novichok
9 Feb 2022  #582

.one main reason why the West won the Cold War.

BB, I used to like you...Man, what happened? The West didn't win anything. The USSR beat the US in what mattered. Especially in the nuclear bomb category and space. If both were at the Olympics, the USSR would take gold in the megatons, first dog, first man, first woman, and now in the fastest fighter jets. They didn't know what transgender was then.

As far as the USSR, it fell apart from the internal econ rot and only because they didn't copy the Chinese model. OK, it was not possible then...

BTW, how is that "cold war" with China moving along? I noticed that China is winning...and we and you are funding it. Making a buck is irresistible, I guess. What did Lenin say about rope?

Bratwurst Boy
9 Feb 2022  #583

The West didn't win anything.

Well....I wouldn't post here today....you probably wouldn't even know I exist if the West wouldn't had won....the wall wouldn't had fallen....the GDR would still exist....Berlin would still be split....people would still shot dead fleeing the farmers and workers paradise....

You would so miss me!!!

After that experience I bet all my cards on the "weak" West again....especially against "super strong" Russia and China! Sometimes I get such a deja vu...

the USSR would take gold in the megatons,

Yeah....and everybody would know they were doped to the gills.....that what they want the most, the respect, they won't get! Nobody respects liars and cheaters!

Velund

What did Lenin say about rope?

Probably this generation never read any Lenin works. ;)

Novichok
9 Feb 2022  #585

.the wall wouldn't had fallen....the GDR would still exist....Berlin would still be split....

All those were part of the domino effect after the collapse of the USSR. How the West "wins" we will see when China finally decides to take Taiwan. North Korea has already acquired the status of the untouchables - the country that "lost" a hot war with the US.

Nobody respects liars and cheaters!

You mean doping? That's beyond funny considering that the woke West invented a cute way to dope some women with a lot of testosterone. To make sure it flows easier through their bodies, they even attach balls to those chicks. And it's LEGAL!!!! Hahahahahahaha...Let's hope the Russians will never discover this ingenious method.

How the West "wins" we will see when China finally decides to take Taiwan.

Hmm....military invasions are now the benchmark for success? Well....all big time losers won their first battles....till they didn't anymore....

That's beyond funny considering that the woke West invented a cute way to dope some women with a lot of testosterone.

Nah.....the manly girls had been an invention of the East....remember the east german swimmer???

How do you think tiny GDR ruled the medal tables in the past? Exactly....lying and cheating!

Pick a side. You cant be all for USA without seeing Russia is a disaster and the USSR was a disaster.

After Putin meeting with Macron, its becoming a little more clear now. It looks more like the threat is a negotiation tactic to solidify a cease fire in the break away provinces. I am thinking he just wants to annex those provinces permanently. That would actually make sense. Going deep into Ukraine makes no strategic sense.

Seriously, for anyone who has spent any time in Ukraine, outside of Kiev and Lviv there is nothing I could see that Russia would want. The roads are like riding on a freakin roller coaster they are so bad. It is a third world country that would come with a lot of costs just to improve it.

What are the reasons for cold war if China will continue to go the way of capitalism?

If you're a Russian in the US you can (and do...)

annex those provinces permanently. That would actually make sens

it would make no sense... actually by this time Ukraine doesn't much care if they stay or go.

As a person with family in that region described it... it's the most socially dysfunctional and historically worst run area of Ukraine (a bit like Nowa Huta crossed with Radom... but worse, far worse Soviet dysfunction far excedes anything Poland can muster).

Russians showed up in lots of parts of Ukraine hoping to spark a popular uprising (no, they really did) and they were called out and turned back everywhere but those two provinces because there wasn't enough social organization to muster any kind of coordinated action.

Russia doesn't want the provinces in question (useless without the rest of the Novorossiya boondoggle and full of people who just want welfare and to drink themselves to death) it wanted a land bridge to Crimea (cause it's a stinking white elephant hemoraghing resources at this point).

Russia wants now to simply saddle the Ukraine government with a 'federal' project allowing them to use those provinces to help prevent any kind of coherent national policy from forming....

The West didn't win anything. The USSR beat the US in what mattered.

To a larger extent the West strongly superceeded USSR technically in one field - microprocessors. There were more fields like biotechnologies, lasers, pharmaceuticals, but these fields aren't as critical economically and militarily.

@mafketis
Russia needs gas flowing to Germany as much as Germany needs the gas, maybe even more than Germany needs it because the US already did a deal for LNG to be shipped to Europe. So any threat to NS2 is a crippling threat. A cut from SWIFT and Russia is in bread lines. Giving up the annexed areas gives Ukraine some relief and Russia some more land. But Russia will never get a promise from NATO that Ukraine wont be let in. Its just not going to happen.

As for China and their claim to the islands in dispute. The US is not going to fight a war with China on any island. They will send resources and say good luck. China knows this and when they are ready they will take over, but US bodies wont be used.

@Vlad1234
As for the USSR or Russia winning anything in the cold war, they won nothing. Propaganda wins are not wins. People starving are not wins. People doing anything they can to leave the country is not winning, it is a sign of loosing and continuing that loosing tradition. Please tell me what Russia has over the west? Caviar? There are reasons why no one is looking to move to Russia.

Russia needs gas flowing to Germany as much as Germany needs the gas

it's not entirely true - Russia has HUGE financial reserves in Western currencies

Russia has HUGE financial reserves in Western currencies

Do you have a link to that information?

PolAmKrakow
9 Feb 2022  #594

@gumishu
Are you not reading the news? They will have zero access to those currencies and places to spend them if they invade Ukraine. Banking will be over for them. And its pretty difficult to move mountains of cash anywhere when no one will do business with you. Thats like saying Mexico has huge reserves in pinto beans. If no one wants them or you cant get them out of the country its not exactly a strength.

The 'Nuclear Option': What Is SWIFT And What Happens If Russia Is Cut Off From It?

rferl.org/a/russia-swift-nuclear-option/31601868.html

...Say a German company is buying Russian natural gas, so it needs to pay for it. It can transfer money from its German bank account to the Russian firm's Russian bank by entering the recipient's account number and the SWIFT code.

The German firm then sends a message from its German account, via SWIFT, to the Russian bank saying a money transfer is incoming. Then, when the funds electronically arrive, they will be available for the Russian company to withdraw....

Without being an accepted member of SWIFT Russia doesn't get paid in Dollars or Euros and can't use his (considerable) reserves in foreign currencies to buy stuff at the world markets...

It's back to Rubles only without international trading....like some third world country!

Cutting off Russia from SWIFT will really sting

atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/cutting-off-russia-from-swift-will-really-sting/

What is SWIFT and why it might be the weapon Russia fears most

A cut from SWIFT and Russia is in bread lines.

LOL. You can switch off Visa and Mastercard, not only SWIFT, and here will be no any bread lines. I think here will be problem with silos to to store wheat that was on their way to export ports for some time, while alternate payment paths are activated.

JFYI - all state employees and pensioners was switched to MIR charge cards, to assure that no outsiders can have any control on social benefits and salaries, in ANY case. People just got their new free card for salary on pension some day.

But Russia will never get a promise from NATO that Ukraine wont be let in.

Then austro-hungarian "project Ukraine" may be eventually closed, and lands returned to previous owners (Hungary, Romania, Russia, Poland, Cossacks - exactly as they take his part historically) ;)

PolAmKrakow
9 Feb 2022  #597

@Velund
There are no other international payment methods they can use other than those Russia developed with other third world countries. That's what people don't get, Russia has nothing other than gas, that can be replaced, that anyone else wants. There will be no food or grain imports or exports, no alcohol exports, and work visa's will be over, so will travel visa's.

Russia is F'd without the west, and if Putin doesn't recognize that, he will end up looking like an idiot compared to the idiot Biden. Again, please tell me what Russia has that the world cant live without?

gumishu
9 Feb 2022  #598

or grain imports

as far as I know Russia is self-sufficient when it comes to grains - it even implemented export tolls last year for its own grains to avoid price hikes of bread and similar

Do you have a link to that information?

..military invasions are now the benchmark for success?

No, they are the benchmarks of military and economic superiority. Communist China will soon be number 1. The US is a debt-driven has-been that can't exist without borrowing from its enemies or printing.

remember the east german swimmer???

But they were still women. The West takes men and calls them "girls". This gave a new meaning to "this chick has balls".

What are the reasons for the cold war if China will continue to go the way of capitalism?

The cold war was a military race between hostile systems without shots being fired. Today, the US is spending itself into bankruptcy doing just that to keep up with the supersonic stuff both China and Russia already have. And those lasers...What is that if not Cold War Ver. 2? And then North Korea joining the nuke club? A race to get a trophy who is nicer?

To a larger extent the West strongly superseded USSR technically in one field - microprocessors.

All made in China. The joke of the century is that if China stopped delivering those chips, the majority of DoD programs would have to be shut down.

I wonder if the US makes anything that uses electricity. We don't even make our own flags.

LOL

maybe you have missed it - so I post it here - it looks like most of retired Russian officers don't support the potential war with Ukraine: dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10484417/Top-hardline-Russian-general-warns-Putin-NOT-invade-Ukraine-accuses-criminal-policy.html

Ivashov is speaking on behalf of most retired Russian offficers (he is a chairman of their association)

This gave a new meaning to "this chick has balls".

tis a very good point - I heard one of top swimming coaches in the US lost her position because she objected to and spoke out against men claiming to be female competing with female swimmers
