Not necessarily. We don't have a big Russian minority like Ukraine, Estonia, etc. and lands viewed by Russia as ethnically or historically "theirs". With weak NATO Russia wouldn't have the excuse to attack Poland. Poland could become another Switzerland :) But, of course, that would come with a price... Poland would have to be "pragmatic", as Russians call it, like Germany. So, we would have to stop caring about stuff like democracy, freedom of speech, human rights, forget about giving moral support to Russian opposition getting killed or being sent to labour colonies... We would have to turn a blind eye to the invasion on Ukraine, Estonia, etc. and smile and shake hands with Putin :)

I don't think as Poles, considering what we've suffered, we would be able to do that - to show our backs to smaller countries, to the brave opposition in Russia, to tolerate evil... So, yes, I'm afraid that not only we need the US and NATO, but the whole world needs it, unfortunately...

@maf, during Soviet occupation and Stalinist times local people from the Baltic states were deported to remote areas of the Soviet Union and Russians from the Soviet Union were settled in their place. So those are ethnic Russians, not only "Russian speakers". According to Wikipedia 25.6% of people living in Estonia are Russian. In Latvia 26.9%.

This concert was beautiful and it was a charity concert, btw... Apparently it was aired in 50 countries, most importantly - in Ukraine... Little Amelia stole the show at the end by jumping on the stage and then running in front of and tapping joint Ukrainian and Polish flags held by all the Polish and Ukrainian singers :) She reminds me so much of my niece :)) ❤️ Kids will be kids, they're the same everywhere... She got big applause from the audience, of course :))))

I cannot rid out of impression that this war is just a one big hoax. Obviously there is no real reasons behind this war which would be known to wide public. Ukraine in NATO, Ukraine armed with nuclear weapon, Ukraine attacking Russia with all the forces... I cannot believe Putin really expected to live into those days. And to protect Donbass independence full scale invasion was rather excessive. Putin could just send the best weapons to the separatists, or subdue Ukraine just by missile strikes.

Putin has never cared about "protecting Donbass" he successfully sold the idea internationally that this was a civil conflict - it's not. Russia invaded and then installed Russian warlord leaders who ruined the place.

That's what Ukrainians now think of as "Russian rule" and one of the main reasons they're fighting so hard.

Western media claim that Putin is isolated, misinformed, that his intelligence and generals either failed or lied to him about situation in Ukraine. This war is causing a world wide food shortage.
A crucial portion of the world's wheat, corn and barley is trapped in Russia and Ukraine because of the war, while an even larger portion of the world's fertilizers is stuck in Russia and Belarus.

The result is that global food and fertilizer prices are soaring.
Since the invasion last month, wheat prices have increased by 21 percent, barley by 33 percent and some fertilizers by 40 percent.
The world, including the West will be feeling this big time very soon.
