Who knows, she would probably be the only person who could help broker a peace between Moscow and Kiev. That being said, it is probably for the best that the SPD is now in power and not the CDU. No doubt if their roles were reversed, the SPD would have never agreee to the increase of the defence budget and other measures.

What are people saying in Germany about the forthcoming energy crisis?

Here in the UK it hasn't really sunk in yet due to a lesser exposure to Russian hydrocarbons. People don't quite appreciate that a crisis in France and Germany will have a huge impact here.

It will get difficult here in the UK, however Germany is of course more exposed to the problem. I do wonder what the German public is saying in regard to this.

Now, this is the level that becomes unhinged from reality.

I look forward to the end.....when Germany will become (one of) the first industrialized economy to go fully green. No more dependencies on nutty dictators!

But till we are there it will be difficult and a bumpy ride....Putin forced us onto this way, that will be the only good thing coming out of this. But now there is no way around it anymore....we as a country can't go on further as we have done during the last 20 years, fact!

And it did make sense, if one presumed that Putin would not do something that goes so fundamentally against his countries.
