Nobody invaded the USSR and it fell apart.
Yes, exactly. The West managed to defeat the USSR by non-military means.
But, in fact, the West only weakened the Soviet Union, it didn't make it fall apart. The Soviet Union fell apart, because it was held together by force against the will of the people. The Soviet Union was based on military conquest, brute force, lies and persecution. The Warsaw Pact ceased to exist for the same reasons. Unlike NATO and the EU whose membership is still very much sought after. Why is that? Because countries get attracted to those two due to their soft power. The Soviet Union was using force to make others "join".
And Russia is doing the same mistake again. And who knows, maybe it's going to be it's downfall... again.
Slowly, by million cuts and by the internal rot, overspending, and open borders.
Is Russia doing it to the US? What's your point?
there are more ways to cause the death of a nation than by a direct nuclear hit
Why complain so much about NATO enlargement then?
And you're being overdramatic. The Russian people didn't die as a nation just because the USSR fell apart. Far from it. Americans won't die as a nation either. It isn't so easy to kill/destroy a whole nation. Poles would know :)
