Ukraine demands 12,000 anti-tank missiles from Germany

"The situation is dramatic": Concerns about a Russian invasion are growing in Ukraine. Now the country urgently appealed to Berlin to send weapon systems for anti-tank defense.

spiegel.de/ausland/ukraine-fordert-von-deutschland-12-000-panzerabwehrraketen-a-c8aee369-6492-4a98-a0dd-fd5de9fc18bc

Before Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to Kiev, the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin renewed the demand for heavy weapons from Germany. On "Bild" TV Andriy Melnyk demanded the immediate delivery of 12,000 anti-tank missiles to be able to fend off a possible Russian ground offensive against Ukraine. "The situation is dramatic," he said. »What we have to be prepared for today is the worst possible scenario.«

The federal government refuses to supply deadly weapons to Ukraine. However, it is examining whether to make armaments available below this threshold.

A February 3 wish list from the Ukrainian embassy includes a number of armaments that are clearly not lethal weapons. These include electronic tracking systems, mine clearance equipment, protective suits, digital radios, radar stations and night vision devices. Anti-tank missiles are not on this wish list.....

It should be hard to deny them everything....they will get stuff!

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING! All they have to do is say we are sorry, restore the guy they "drove out of the office" in 2014 and nobody needs to die.

they are building bombs at Boeing. I still love the stock and don't GAF

I bet you do. Those GE/McDonnell Douglas Executives as*holes that took over Boeing after the merger have been utilising the worst aspects of amerkanski rynek to run the company to the ground, but it's great for the share price and your dividends. Using Boeings cash reserves for share buybacks (which should be illegal btw) and cutting R&D and Engineering to the bone. Guess what? Every recent project since the 777 has been a clusterf*ck, including the military cargo plane they are making. Those evil bastards are responsible for the death of 500 people with those 737-Max crashes. They knew before and after the first crash, yet they kept going. Anything to keep the share price up. Outsourced the code to the cheapest programmers in India. Now instead of the executives going to jail for corporate malfeasance and murder, they're scapegoating the chief test pilot. Guess what ?because of the share buybacks and executive bonuses Boeing has no money for R&D to design a new civilian airliner and Airbus is kicking their ass. The only thing saving them is the American Military gravy train. If the yank stock market wasn't such a rigged casino crapshoot the stock should have tanked a while back. But hey you love the stock and your money from it, Great.

The only thing saving them is the American Military gravy train.

Not only them but all the military complex companies are on that gravy train.
And what a better way to pump up the Global economy than to have a war or two or three.
The part that keeps getting overlooked here is Iran's involvement that could end up being a huge threat to Poland and the rest of Europe.

Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, which is Russia's most dependable regional ally in the decade-long Syrian conflict, have significantly escalated missile strikes on the oil-rich Gulf States with a nod of approval from the Kremlin in order to take pressure off Russia in the Ukraine stand-off by opening a second front in the veritable Achilles' heel of the energy-dependent industrialized world.

I fear cyber-attacks and oil shortages in Europe as much as I do bombs and bullets.

What a better way to fund new R & D than to sell a bunch of tech for a war that may or may not happen? It doesn't even need to happen now because the money is already flowing.

@johnny reb
I love gravy. lol And just what I said at the beginning of this thread, this is a war that multiple countries want and need. Putin needs it just as much as sleepy Joe. The EU needs it to rally together. Poland needs it to take the heat off PiS stupidity in the EU. Ukraine is just a pawn, though they may turn into an important piece if they can get Germany to move on something more than helmets.

establishment US news outlets are a reliable partner in propaganda

The American establishment has virtually no choice. Just as their Soviet "colleagues" did just before the collapse. Resources are severely limited, there is no time and no opportunity to rob anyone quickly once again using the world dollar system, there is no readiness for WWIII, and events are developing in an avalanche-like manner. All that remains is to turn on the hutzpah and start creating a virtual reality in which the war in Ukraine is brewing and "western world" must immediately mobilize everything that the allies can provide to counter the inevitable threat. And think urgently about what to do with China, which has sensed weakness and seems to have decided to go for broke. There is a week until the end of the Olympics, and then another avalanche could come.

You may be right about oil. You have to take into account that the oil blends is too different, and a refinery built and optimized for Urals with an approximately stable composition (which is a mixture of light Siberian oil with heavier grades from the Volga region, each batch of which is prepared individually to meet the specifications) can not be quickly reoriented to any other source. If Russia responds to U.S. "sanctions from hell" by adding crude oil to its list of counter-sanctions, European oil refining will stand idle for at least half a year, and the most high tech efficient petrochemical plants could stand idle for up to 2 years for repurposing. And it would take a huge amount of money to do so. The point will be to do something only if there is a stable alternative source of oil of approximately constant composition. And we see the U.S. establishment trying to quietly, without attracting attention, to reduce the pressure on Iran. Apparently hoping that Iranian oil will take the place of Russian oil in the worst case scenario. Only they forget that Iran is not in the mood to help those who have been strangling it for years, and it has a stable market in Asia.

me that I'm become poorer when I had 1.5 times increase of income in last 2 years.

You will become poorer. Right know you reap benefit of unferreted ore sell to EU.

Resources are severely limited,

USA has plenty of oil. Yes keep going about how USA is doomed. I
I would say that is more about Russia.

@Velund
You have no clue about what is happening in the US. Keep reading Russian propaganda. US has huge oil reserves and a whole lot of untapped oil. Any issue arises and one call to Kuwait and oil keeps flowing. Iran reduction of sanctions was on the table a year ago, and heading down that road before any of this Ukraine mess came up. Iran wants a return to the nuclear agreement and that's going to happen. Making friends with Iran is smart politics since so much Islam politics comes out of Iran.

Russia, just a little stupidity goes a long way. Jump starting more political talks, pumping up industrial production in enemy territories, and strengthening NATO alliances, exactly what Putin did not want to happen. Now he has a choice, go to war or tuck tail and go home.

USA has plenty of oil.

When I talk about resources, I meant not only oil. Try to feed BLM people with oil, expecially before elections. ;) They like free money, and ability to loot in a spare time. Print more fresh crunchy dollar bills again? It is easy, but already obvious that something goes wrong after previous batch. ;)

Russians can survive some temporary drop in incomes, especially when culprit is clearly seen. I think we can bend much deeper than level at which in EU and US the yellow vest and few pack of extra ammo of preferred caliber will be most wanted purchase. ;)

Now he has a choice, go to war or tuck tail and go home.

War is when two sides are shooting. Nobody was shooting in Crimea, hence, no Crimean 2014 war. My bet is on the Ukrainians being smarter than the Poles in September 1939 and August 1944.

Why shoot at the guys who don't want to kill you or will win anyway. Only American kneegrows do it because their IQ is low. That's why they resist and die.

Velund
14 Feb 2022  #852

Ukrainians being smarter

There at least four large groups of people with Ukrainian passports, and only one will try to shot. ;) But in eastern and southern part of country that group is in minority and alienated. Now, on a panic wave, most returns to the west, except genetic rejects that group along line of contact in Donbass, preparing for culling. ;)

Do you have any idea how much food reserve the US has? More than enough to feed people. So prices go up a little more again, nothing else will change. You have never been to the US, you know only what your puppet master tell you. Have they told you that you lost the Cold War? Or was that history rewritten?

@Novichok
With all due respect, when were you last in Ukraine? Do you speak to any actual people there? If Russia moves further, you can be assured bullets and rockets will be fired. This is not Ukraine of 2014.

I had 1.5 times increase of income in last 2 years.

Yes, coz you live in Moscow which has always been the most affluent region in Russia and earlier in the USSR. Anybody who wanted top buy sth unavailable elesewhere or find a job flew to Moscow like bees to honey. But Moscow and its vicinity, plus two or 3 other major cities make only about 20% of Russian population. What about other whose life has deteriorated but you don`t care coz you don`t see or hear it in Kremlin propaganda outlets?

you don't care about the situation of Poles in Ukraine

I just noticed you are producing brazen lies again, in this disgusting neobolshevik rightard style. Of course I do care. 3 years ago I proved to you that I cared about the plight of Lithuanian Poles. Darling - think logically - why should I care about Lithuanian Poles more than about Ukrainian ones? It wouldn`t make sense so quit those lies coz you discredit yourself.

PS. And then people wonder why I consider rightards abominable. :):):

14 Feb 2022  #855

Do you speak to any actual people there?

I spoke to me and me told me that only very desperate and very stupid people throw themselves on live grenades.

I see no reason for the citizens of Ukraine to fight the Russians. Everybody who has access to the internet already knows that Putin is not Stalin, that Crimea is fine, that there will be no genocide, and that all Putin wants is assurances that NATO will not be in Ukraine. Is that worth your life?

Afghanistan is a good example. Their "army" folded in a matter of days when they realized that the Taliban was going to win anyway. I assume that the Ukrainians are just as smart.

Few things are more stupid than dying for principle or "for my country".

Never figured you for an open borders type.... since his policy toward the Russian borders with Central Asian countries is exactly the same as Biden's policy toward the US=Mexico border....

Mass low skilled immigration.... bad for the US but good for Russia?

How is that circle squared, exactly?

Great video's, I watched. He makes valid points. So, Russia get out of Crimea, and then NATO makes their promise. Easy solution. Neither side is willing to go there.

Novichok
14 Feb 2022  #860

and then NATO makes their promise.

NATO already made a promise in 1991 and lied.
Crimea is non-negotiable since the Russians there want to be part of the Russian Federation. The West loves the concept of democracy and self-rule so it should act accordingly. Russia can't hand over 2.4 million people against their will just as the US can't hand over Michigan to Canada.

If there is any evidence that Crimeans want to go back to Ukraine I would like to see it. So would Putin.

There was no "promise".....there was a pro-russian consent in the West border countries like Ukraine not to invite into NATO....that agreement looks stupid now and won't be repeated!

What the Germans, Americans, British and French did agree to in 1990 was that there would be no deployment of non-German NATO forces on the territory of the former GDR.....

The interviewer asked why Gorbachev did not "insist that the promises made to you [Gorbachev]-particularly U.S. Secretary of State James Baker's promise that NATO would not expand into the East-be legally encoded?" Gorbachev replied: "The topic of 'NATO expansion' was not discussed at all, and it wasn't brought up in those years. ...

What about other whose life has deteriorated

Since beginning of Covid lockouts, company I work for moved everyone (except essential employees of warehouse and some others who are unable to work from home for some reason) to work from home. And immediately we starting get new employees... From Omsk, from Crimea, from Kaluga.....

I know a couple of very depressive small cities where a lot of people now working in call centers of large companies (we also have few tech support Tier 1 employees there). People works partly from coworking spaces, partly from home. So, money spent for high speed Internet links starting to pay off. Slowly but surely.

that agreement looks stupid now and won't be repeated!

Which makes Putin more right than ever.
As he said, Russia's security is not open for discussions or negotiations. Only a total idiot would trust the West - a bunch of suicidal morons who go out of their way to collect refugees on boats like trophies and spend trillions trying to make Afghanistan be like Denmark.

Russia's security??? Did someone invade there recently? Stole some chunk of its territory? What about Ukraine's security and territorial integrity?

The West was stupid to believe in showing understanding and keeping the russian neighbours away from NATO would be in any way honored....Putin has no honor and deserves no trust!

It's embarassing actually....its the old lesson again: appeasement never stopped war!

Update: Instead of the demanded weapons Ukraine gets money from Germany!

Scholz promises Ukraine 150 million euros

....Scholz also promised early financial aid of 150 million euros for Ukraine. In recent years, no other country has supported the Ukraine financially like the Federal Republic. This support will be continued with "the same determination". Scholz said that he would also make it clear in talks with Russia what geostrategic and economic consequences further aggression on the part of Russia would have.

Not the world but better than nothing....may they buy with that the needed weapons!

Oh, come on, BB. Don't be another pawian.

If these ethnic Russian's in Crimea want to live in Russia, the solution is to leave and go to Russia. The solution is not to finance and supply an incursion into a sovereign nation and annex their land. So, pack your s**t and get out. Simple, but Putin didnt want it to be simple.

Putin wants security from what exactly? His thinking that the west wants any part of Russia is moronic. No one wants anything Russian and they make nothing that anyone can not live without. Mentally the people are a paranoid culture. Stay behind your borders, no one wants you or anything you have. That is the general train of thought in the west.

Putin longs for the good old days. I get it. Only the good old days were not so good for all the Russians. Yes, they have their nukes. Great, keep them. The west will keep theirs. You want to be a closed nation, great. Lets make sure your have a closed nation and all of Europe other than Belarus puppets are off limits for Russians. Lets eliminate all visa's and immigration avenues for all Russians. Now that is utopia. Russians get a total of 90 days per year in the EU for holidays. Because no one wants them. Just agree to stay in Russia, and we will happily let you.

Velund
