We might be disunited as Slavs, but atleast we will be united today as Kislev! Time to fight demons! Not only in real life! :D

Time to fight demons!

First of all we need to defeat demons in our heads!

Pressure broke the USSR. Economic and political. Reagan was a big part of that. But, if we wait now, Russia will fall apart again because of the same pressures. Real people are tired of being real poor and needing real food. Meanwhile Putin keeps raiding the real money. The guy is a third rate con man from the KGB who threatened and killed his way into power and does the same to keep power. When one of his own takes him out, then Russia may have a chance. Thats just Russian tradition though.

Both were legends

Legends by definition are fake stories. Next one: How Biden defeated the virus and Putin.

Pressure broke the USSR. Economic and political. Reagan was a big part of that.

What did Reagan do? Specifically. Walked out on Gorby? Is that it?

Who applied that pressure and how?

who trusted the Democrats when they promised the wall for the amnesty for the illegal Latino scum

I think it would be rather groundlessly to blame only the Democrats for US emmigration realities. In the last 40 years the Dems. and the Resps. constantly replaced each other. Have lots of things changed when the Resp. were in power? It looks like such immigration policies are integral feature of modern capitalism for some reasons. Is it much different in Canada, Europe, Australia, etc? I think if the White separatists want to acheive their goal, they have no other choice left, but to create a floating republic on the waters somewhere in the neutral waters of the Ocean. And proclaim a separate state on the water.

What did Reagan do?

One conventional opinion (not sure I agree) was that the key to toppling the Soviet Union was through the Soviet military.... The government would push the economy (and lower living standards for citizens) however much they needed in order to not feel that they were falling behind....

Provocative statements about winnable nuclear war and failure in Afghanistan caused them to overspend on the military and underspend everywhere else to a point where the internal contradictions of the Soviet system could no longer be maintained and market reforms would have to be introduced...

Economically the Soviet Union was a giant boondoggle and couldn't even halfway function normally... so it didn't take much to push it over the edge...

And once Gorbachev said the Soviet Union would no longer invade colonies wishing to break free (as it had in Hungary and Czechoslovakia) the colonies couldn't run fast enough to get away from the social and economic malaise....

Putin's base is similar to the PiS base (and Orban's? and Erdogan's?????) less educated and nostalgic for a world that never existed and kind of passive and infantile wanting to be spared effort and be fed....

As happy as many in other republics were to leave the USSR, Russians were sad to see the USSR go (I only realized this a few years ago).

There's also the particularly Russian feeling of "We might not have a great standard of living and be abused by the oligarchs and the government but.... other countries are afraid of our power, and that's something!"

"There's also the particularly Russian feeling of "We might not have a great standard of living and be abused by the oligarchs and the government but.... other countries are afraid of our power, and that's something!"

And that is a sign of a mentally retarded culture. I am sorry if that offends anyone with family with learning disabilities, but Russia with that mentality is retarding its own growth. You're right though Maf, I know Russians that think this way. Scared to take their own virus jab, and dying to get a work visa, but think Russia is something special because of their "history" some referring to the Romanov's in conversation.

Meanwhile the rest of the educated world see's Russia as a nuisance that must be tolerated until someone takes out the leader again, and then new talks can take place.

That;s a very bold statement to make. U want to back it up with some documented sources? Especially in regards to Poland?

caused them to overspend on the military and underspend everywhere else

Finally, a sensible post. That's exactly what happened. Reagan just smiled and signed spending bills. My 15-year-old gd would be able to do the same. Just give her a pen...

I will remember him for a pleasant idiot who sent 241 US Marines on a mission of death in Beirut. They died on October 23, 1983. I don't recall anyone here remembering that day of infamy.

@Novichok
And what about Putin's idiocy for sending Russians to their death over Ukraine? When will you be saying this? False flag operations and all to justify it? The country deserves the abysmal life it has and has had for roughly a century.

mafketis

Reagan just smiled and signed spending bills

You misunderstood.... Reagan's rhetoric was to get the USSR to overspend on military and underspend on everything else.... as they did. The US with a much stronger market based economy (and the safety valve of generally reliable elections) could stand temporary overspending far more than the inflexible jabberwocky that was the Soviet "economy".

Especially in regards to Poland?

I live here and pay attention...

No, he didn't contain Evil Empire. It takes more to contain an empire than making speeches - funny or not.

Reagan's rhetoric was to get the USSR to overspend on military and underspend on everything else.... as they did.

Almost the same thing. He talked and they did all the heavy lifting of destroying themselves.

To all who thinks to understand politics in Europe take this fact into consideration >

Poland and Hungary allows transport of most heavy armament from Russia to Serbia.

Go figure that.

This have to mean >

1. Trianon is past, Hungary wants part of Ukraine
2. Serbia in Visegrad
3. Visegrad out of EU
4. Visegrad would be New Commonwealth

1. Trianon is past, Hungary wants part of Ukraine

Actually, its not what Hungary wants. Its how it is. Ukraine, to become real state, if ever, needs to be realistic. What is Ukrainian would be Ukraine, Russian goes to Russians, Polish goes to Poland, Hungarian goes to Hungary.

No, he didn't contain Evil Empire.

Again, it is amazing how little you know about history. Even worse - about American history. :):)

Reagan finished off the USSR with two steps:
- increasing the oil production which reduced Soviets` income when prices fell
- starting Star Wars programme which USSR was unable to compete with coz it was light years behind the West in high technology sector.

Can you swallow this without replying coz it is an off-topic remark and I don`t want you to spoil the thread any further.

Star Wars is not "history" to me. I was already here and able to read English.

So now you should take back your words about Reagan. He did contain the Evil Empire. Just like Biden and Johnson today. Glory.

Russian troops still building up on the border, despite Kremlin media lies about withdrawal. Fekking cheaters. :)

The greatest threat to American democracy is not Russia or any other country. It's America itself, its unelectable swamp, and the creeps like Hillary. The rest, the Russian "collusion" and now that bs how Russia is a "threat" to world peace is all manufactured to deflect away from the treasonous acts of the American ruling mob and their senile puppet, Biden.

No, I am not a Russian troll. Never been to Russia and don't know anyone in Russia.
I am an American who just happens to have a well-functioning brain.

Joseph (Stalin) Biden is the worst president in the history of the US and A, and some semi-sober people from the Democratic Party, such as Manchin and that woman from Arizona Kyrsten Sinema, understand this well. The USA under liberal leftist democratic rule is in a state of complete disintegration, inflation, crime, unemployment, COVID dictatorship, etc. By far the most incompetent people on the political scene in America come from the Democratic Party. Where they trample, the grass no longer grows.

Russians are escalating attacks on their own targets in Donbas region and blaming Ukraine for it. Fekking terrorists. They massed nearly 200.000 troops on the border. The major attack, including Kiev, is going to commence within days.

Hey, Russian soldiers! Don`t be like cattle brought to the slaughterhouse by your mad leader. Rebel and turn your guns against those who push you to a war with your Slavic brothers.

Poland must be ready to host potential refugees/ host the Ukrainian Government in Exile/ What else?

One important thing - treating wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Polish hospitals.

God bless Ukraine.

Fekking terrorists

Agreed.

The major attack is going to commence within days

I can still not see it happening.
I just can't believe that Putin is that stupid.

Hey, Russian soldiers! Don`t be like cattle brought to the slaughterhouse by your mad leader

Agreed.

If the Russians do invade, they will pay a very high price.
