But they were able to locate Europe - twice in the 20th century.

Heh:) Good comeback!

Poor leprosy cow to die soon.

To be alone as Ukraine? Free prey for every bigger bully in the neighbourhood? Putin might have just seriously renewed the appreciation for international unions...

Usually it is rather the loosers who move to new and unsettled territories.

But most likely - younger sons that does not inherited any part of their father's land (as per majorat principle all parcel of land is inherited by one of sons, oldest). Others may inherite some money or other property, but not land.

The US will not fight in Taiwan, China, when they are ready, will take it in a bloody war. The US will supply weapons, but not one soldier. Same in Ukraine, but Ukraine is strategic, Taiwan is not.

China will not "align" with Russia, Russia can not consume enough cheap goods to make China move economically. China relies on the west and without the west, Japan see's a boon economically.

Putin did as everyone predicted. Predictability is not a good thing for a leader. Now, when we see what these "republics" claim as their soil, we will see if he has the balls for a real war. Crossing those borders that have existed for 8 years will be a very big move that will bring a lot of dead bodies. Personally I think he will do it, I think he needs it to cover the disaster his country is by trying to roll over a weaker opponent. But how much weaker is the opponent now?

Sometimes could be. But Ukraine in particular was too large to run out of land too soon. So, I don't know... But the fact that not a few prisoners found their exile in Siberia or Northern Russia.

Ukraine is strategic, Taiwan is not.

Taiwan with majority of chips production in the world is much more "strategic" compared to Ukraine that produce nothing that really cannot be replaced. ;) If Ford is forced to stop their conveyors for weeks due to lack of chips for car electronic due to Covid shortages, what to expect if TSMC fabs will stop for months?

Novichok

but Ukraine is strategic,

To the US? How?

Hopefully, I'm just batsh!t crazy and way off the mark.

I hate to tell you this but your post is spot on.

then what's stopping China from taking Taiwan?

The world opinion, the ICC, and the environmental concerns. The US didn't attack oil-carrying ISIS trucks for that reason.

Taiwan with majority of chips production in the world is much more "strategic" compared to Ukraine that produce nothing

This is getting really annoying. For anything that makes any sense, I have to read only what is coming from Putin, Velund, and the Serbs.

Chips wont control anything the US does. Already building chip production factories in US. Next guess....

@Novichok
To NATO = US. Putin, by his latest actions to recognized enhanced territories of the new "republics" will begin a war that will leave these new republics at the doorstep of NATO. Effectively bringing NATO to the edge of Russia where he said he didn't want NATO. Putin is not thinking rationally. He, in his own words, said just the other day that Russia can not match NATO. So wtf is he thinking? This is nothing more than an effort to recreate a smaller version of the USSR. He may be a strong leader, but he is sure not as smart as I once thought. This is simply going to destroy his people.

Putin is not thinking rationally.

He is thinking very rationally. What matters is the distance to Moscow and what's behind.

Already building chip production factories in US. Next guess....

Then the US should be grateful to China for their threats to take Taiwan.

Can somebody please explain why NATO in Serbia was very good and Russia in Ukraine is very bad...
And, for extra credit, why Kosovo was good but Donbas is bad. I would really like to know.
Is it Monika Lewinsky syndrome?

Fun fact

I just read an article about the low morale of Russian troops stationing at the border. Russian soldiers don`t get enough food supplies from their headquarters so they have to buy it on their own in local shops. They get necessary funds by selling fuel to their vehicles. And they get heavily intoxicated with vodka every day. Amazing.

Russia - a giant on clay legs.

Russia - a giant on clay legs.

No worries. More clay in legs, more vodka in Russians, faster would Russia fire its nukes to avoid defeat or great casualties.

Nope, Serbia was the first state in Europe to take up arms against the New World Order led by pedophile elites of judeo-West. It was the only obstacle in their path to establish complete dominance over the Balkan region. Serbia had to be punished and made an example of for refusing to be their colony.

Here is another one who was procuring underage girls on Epstein Island visited by other billionaires, presidents including Clinton and members of the British royal family. Jean-Luc Brunel was found dead hanged in a cell just like Epstein when security cameras were not working, just like in the previous case... That you shoot yourself twice in the head dead and stab yourself about 20 times with a knife is an old-fashioned way of elimination. Now I expect that the woman who worked for him will be shot and other pedophile billionaires including Clinton are calm... This is how the Italian mafia did not solve their problems in prisons so that they wouldn't sing like this elite of the mentally ill psychopats.

"Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modeling agent accused of procuring over 1,000 women and girls for Jeffrey Epstein, was discovered hanging in his Paris prison cell Saturday morning while" security cameras were reportedly not working. "

What new world order would that be?
You can't just throw out claims like that without at least an explanation and preferably some proof.

Already building chip production factories in US.

Looks like you are completely unaware about semiconductor technologies. You cannot move chip that already in mass production from one foundry to another, (unless it have exactly the same equipment). Otherwise it either will require costly redesign and retest, either may take weeks to modify process parameters to get optimal yield of usable chips. So, manufacturing is somewhat "locked" to particular fab. It is possible to move, but you have to spend quite a lot to do so, separately for each type of chip. And there is thousands and thousands of varieties.

So, it is good if there will be extra fabs to choose from, for newly designed chips (often final phases of design is done for particular fab, where chip will be produced). But for chips that is already in mass production, it is not so much help.

Is Russia a globally significant producer.of chips then?

Velund
22 Feb 2022  #1284

Is Russia a globally significant producer.of chips then?

No, Taiwan, US, South Korea and China is really significant producers (by volume). Russia and Belarus have semiconductor production lines but it is not "leading edge", though more than enough for most critical components used in military equipment, that must be produced locally.

AFAIK existing lines in Russia is almost 100% loaded with work by commercial orders.

A comment from dailymail.com:
US troops to the Baltic states eh? What would the west do if Putin sent troops to Scotland I wonder?

Another one:
I seem to remember the west sending in "peace-keeping troops" to Libya and Kosovo, no one said a dicky bird or talked about sanctions. Libya is now a nightmare, as of course is Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now mine: Western "democracies" make me sick.

Let's summarize it...To the north, we have a fascist idiot playing dictator. To the south, a narco dump feeding us with raw human sewage and drugs. In DC - a senile moron and an imbecile with a vagina destroying our domestic energy industry. But I am supposed to hate Putin for messing with a corrupt and very undemocratic pile of crap called Ukraine while ignoring the fact that until now Europe had only one war - courtesy NATO in 1990's.

I think I need some of that Stolichnaya to numb the senses.

The verb "to warn" used to mean to inform about danger or consequences to prevent something bad from happening. Not anymore. Today, it means "to predict" or "to anticipate". "To warn", however, has that special attention-grabbing ring to it, hence, the abuse. In this case, it simply means "said".

For example... From yahoo.com:

U.S. officials warned Monday of a brutal, bloody war if Russia invades Ukraine, one that will be waged against innocent Ukrainian people and designed to "repress," "crush" and "harm" them. Also, Russian and Belarusian dissidents living in Ukraine, as well the LGBTQI+ community, could face special danger.

That was a revelation we all appreciate so very much. As a bonus, I learned about another perversion coded as "I". Imbecile?

And that "if" and "could". We should use them more often to make sure we are never wrong.

Finally, "innocent Ukrainian people" must include "babies in incubators", I guess. Evil Putin. No manners.
