Did you see my post about the Deutsche Welle discussion I watched that brought up the problem in German society where many Germans don't want to join the military, except some fringe-right radicals? I wonder how true that is.

....yeah....that was also used as reasoning why we should use our means for "better" things than our armed forces....I heard that often enough.

But now its clear that the world can't have it both ways....a totally peacenik, declawed Germany and an valuable worthy ally who has your back when you need him.

That's actually my guess....the embarrassment and anger in Germany right now is just to huge as that we can go on like this as if nothing had happened!

In no particular order:

1) Keeping an aggressive military power (Russia) off your border
2) Russian control over Ukraine's vast natural resources (oil, gas, lithium) increases Russian sway on these markets--sway it has proven to use for political means.

3) The west standing idly by while a neighbor is attacked invites others (China, Iran, etc.) to make hegemonic plays as they sense weakness and lack of resolve, which then weakens western economies and influence.


You've behaved yourselves. Time to build some lethality--not only Germany, but other Euro countries as well. Just stay the hell away from nukes.

I vote for the latter option. As Anti said, Germany has proven on numerous occasions that they have regained their sanity, time to finally redeem your past sins and raise a powerful army, but this time to fight on the right side!

The federal government has authorized the Netherlands to deliver 400 German-made bazookas to Ukraine. This was confirmed by a spokesman for SPIEGEL. Other media had previously reported. So far, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) had rejected arms exports to Ukraine on principle because it is a crisis area. The state needs the green light from Germany to pass it on.

According to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, the export of 14 armored vehicles with special protection was also approved for Ukraine on Saturday. The vehicles were used for personal protection, possibly also for evacuation purposes, it said. They are to be handed over to Ukrainian authorities. In addition, up to 10,000 tons of fuel are to be delivered to Ukraine via Poland. Further support services are currently being examined.....

Russia only pushing NATO back. Conflict started with Vatican, Saudis, Germany, Turkey, EU, Islamic league, USA, NATO destruction of Yugoslavia.
