Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades
Novichok

Why is Russia's presence in Ukraine illegal and the US presence in Afghanistan was not? If that is old news, how about the US in Syria? I don't recall Syria asking the US for help and giving the US troops Syrian visas.
Or is it that the US went to both places because it could? I know this joke about why dogs lick their balls...if anybody is interested.

So it's not about "free" Ukraine and its democracy. It's about money and power.
There's that, too. You asked for three...I gave three off top of my fecund head. Besides, the three I gave you serves the purpose of a free and democratic Ukraine.
According to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection,
If a new Germany does emerge, I hope one of things that happens is that the Federal Ministry of Economics AND Climate Protection is no longer a marriage as the Climate Protection ministry dies and leaves the ministry of economics a widower free of the burden of a nagging and insane wife. :D
time to finally redeem your past sins and raise a powerful army,
If Germany meets its 2% obligation, other NATO member countries will follow. Germany has given the others cover for some time, but if they start meeting the 2% the others will no longer have an excuse. Reality is we need 3-5 years of 8% defense spending just to get things up to a halfway decent speed. It's going to be interesting to see if this talk of a new dawn comes to fruition over time.

Something is happening with SWIFT right now too....
Federal government wants to "specifically" restrict Swift
Germany is one of the last countries to have blocked Russia from being excluded from the Swift international payment system. The federal government has now announced a "targeted and functional" decoupling of the country.
spiegel.de/wirtschaft/swift-deutschland-will-internationales-zahlungssystem-gezielt-einschraenken-a-457cbb5a-95b7-40fd-bf2d-9d91d9f27c4c
Because of the Russian attack on Ukraine, the federal government has spoken out in favor of a "targeted and functional" restriction of the Swift international payment system. Work is being done "at high pressure" on how Russia's decoupling from Swift can be limited in such a way that "it hits the right people," said Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens).....
Well....if that is possible that would be quite the coup....
If a new Germany does emerge,....
Did you read the news about the weapons deliveries....it might sound like not much to foreign ears but that is quite the earthquake here....a new age has begun! We had been so proud of these principles for so long....and now? In the bin with them!
The new Germany is already rising.....

The US catastrophic intervention in Aghanistan in no way legitimizes Putin attacking a peaceful and non-threatening neighbor.
Justify the invasion of Ukraine on its own.

Awesome display of Russia's incompetence in every field at the moment - military, propaganda, diplomacy, tech, economy. Just a shame we won't get to hand them their backsides on the football pitch.
Keep going Rich and Velund - coffee break in one hour and as its Saturday there is a special treat - 3 day old donuts and some 1988 vintage Moldovan champagne

The only thing is it's hard to imagine that Putin didn't anticipate that happening when he was making his plans for invading Ukraine. He must have known what the likely response would be from the west so .........of course I agree they should be cut out of SWIFT but I don't know how much difference it will make and will he retaliate with some kind of cyber attack on western information systems? Last year the Irish health service was hacked by a Russian group of supposedly organized criminals but they're all in Putin's pocket. It could have been a dry run for something much bigger.

You really are of limited intellect. This is about Russia and Ukraine, not about USA where you live. That said, you should probably be deported and stripped of citizenship for supporting Putin. You are the definition of ungrateful US citizen. You speak about immigration and everything else that is wrong with the USA yet you can not make one real argument based on current events and facts that would convince a retard to agree with your point of view. You are a pseudo intellect reading history books, hiding in your basement. Your screen name says exactly what you are.

Short term nothing will work immediately.....these sanctions work longterm...every day, every month, every year the russian losses will continue to rise till up to the point that the ukrainian adventure becomes to costly and this "victory" turns into a grave defeat.
That's how it works!
I doubt Putin has thought about the longterm consequences for his country....because he can only lose! That's why most people didn't believe Putin would really do this, they thought him smarter....but something has changed in him....I repeat my own opinion: He lost it! Such things happen with people to long unchecked in power!

Why is Russia's presence in Ukraine illegal and the US presence in Afghanistan was not?
I dunno...the Taliban giving al-Qaeda freedom and protection in the country it ruled? Could it have been a response to 9/11?
how about the US in Syria?
I dunno, ISIS and Syrian gov fighting US allies and hedging Iranian control over the region.
These are very poor counter-arguments, Novichok. Ukraine has done nothing to provoke a response of invasion. According to your intimations, you think Hitler's invasion of Poland was justified...Gdansk was a Prussian city at one time, afterall.
The new Germany is already rising.....
It may...time will tell what kind of legs it has. You Germans need to clamor on and on for this new Germany and keep your foot on the pedal.

Nothing about the helmets....but about Nordstream 1!

they are used in vast numbers to overcome opponents.
Yes, this is the biggest threat now. Heroic Ukrainians are kicking Russ-Asian hordes` asses very efficiently. However, when that continues, Putin will call for general mobilisation and even more hordes of his barbarians will attack Ukraine. Then Ukrainians will be outnumbered, like Poles during their Risings against Russia in 19th century. Each killed Russian soldier was quickly replaced by another while Poles had no reserves.
I am afraid Ukrainians will have to resort to total war methods - mobilise all their human resources to repel the wild hordes. The West will supply military technique.
BTW, during the day I observed three flights of Polish Casa transport planes heading eastward. I suppose they were transporting new supplies of ammo and weapons to heroic defenders.
Glory to Ukraine.
I like these planes` camouflage:

Update:
EU foreign ministers could seal Russia's Swift ban on Sunday
The EU has scheduled a special meeting of its foreign ministers for Sunday evening. According to SPIEGEL information, the video conference could decide to exclude Russia from the Swift payment system.
spiegel.de/ausland/eu-aussenminister-koennten-am-sonntag-russlands-swift-ausschluss-besiegeln-a-c6886e62-ecdb-4c6e-b0ec-63729f2af7ef
Russia could now lose access to the Swift international banking network faster than expected. According to information from SPIEGEL, a special meeting of EU foreign ministers has been scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. According to the letter of invitation, it is supposed to be about "Russia's aggression against Ukraine". According to several diplomats, the decision to exclude Russia from Swift could also be made.
This is supported by the fact that even the last remaining doubters among the EU member states have given up their resistance to the previously controversial step, including Germany.
Luxembourg, which had supported Berlin in its negative attitude, has now switched to the new course. Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn told SPIEGEL that his government is also in favor of a "specific restriction" on Swift. Italy, Cyprus and Hungary had previously given up their resistance.
There!

US and EU talk about excluding Russian banks from Swift
At a video conference with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi, a decision is to be taken on the exclusion of Russian banks from the Swift banking system. This is reported by the dpa news agency, citing top officials....
zeit.de/politik/ausland/2022-01/krieg-ukraine-russland-news-liveblog
I think that's it....now it's done and only a formality and the needed finetuning between the concerned allies...
...According to the information, other sanctions could also be agreed. There is talk of freezing the foreign assets of Russian oligarchs. In addition, other Russian banks and in particular the Russian central bank may be subject to sanctions. Among other things, this could prevent Russia from using its foreign exchange reserves to finance the war against Ukraine....
Ach ja....in other news:

According to a statement from the Premier League club, Russian Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will no longer manage the club. Abramovich handed over the management of the Champions League winner to the trustees of the football club's foundation....

Historical dejavu:
In previous post we saw how Kiev residents are taking shelter in their underground similarly to Londoners hiding in their Tube from Nazi air raids.
Another historical analogy:
An apartment block in Kiev was hit by a missile. It immediately reminded me of Warsaw Uprising during which the highest building was hit by a shell from the heaviest mortar ever produced. Nazis didn `t manage to destroy the building completely, it was restored and still stands in Warsaw.
Ukraine can suffer destruction and death today but finally its just cause will prevail and Russ-Asian hordes will be defeated, just like Nazis during WW2.

Warsaw 1944

For those who write that the Russians are giving up, it has nothing to do with the truth. At the moment, the Russians are bringing (at the airports they have conquered) technology and reinforcements in manpower. Currently, their groups are going in front of larger cities to surround them, and when they are stationed, they will make the so-called encirclement hoops (which is the goal of the Russians) in all places where larger units of the Ukrainian army were grouped in the cities of south-eastern Ukraine. Then they will simply go to the tactics of exhaustion, the army within the encircled ring cannot resist for a simple reason, because it will spend all the necessary resources in the form of food and ammunition, and then it will simply be forced to surrender!

their groups are going in front of larger cities to surround them
And commit even more war crimes. Like Nazis during WW2 when they mercilessly shelled and bombed sieged cities, especially Warsaw. It is so sad that Russ-Asian savages are resorting to the same atrocious methods.

Currently, the Ukrainian army is resisting where it is well fortified, which is understandable, but it will not be able to last for a long time, because when the Russians make an encirclement hoop then any further fight is meaningless, in time they will be left without food and ammunition. That's the end of the story. It is sad that we are watching all this, but let the ringleaders of the "Maidan" ask themselves what they needed all this for. They have been told nicely for eight years, do not do that, do not persecute the Russian people, do not repress, give up NATO membership. But they did not, persistently they force stubbornness, and we all know that "stubbornness is a bad craft". As they sowed, so let them reap now, it is sad only that innocent people are suffering, but in war, unfortunately, that is inevitable!
