@jon357
Lets be real here. The US would have gotten it done with our without your country. The US always does and that is why so many want to get there. And we could easily get to Japan from Hawaii, the Japanese proved that with little fighter planes and not bombers with loads of fuel. No matter though, history would have been a lot different if the US does not get into the war and pearl harbor doesn't happen.

@Novichok
People should be dealt with publicly by removing them from the country and stripping them of their residency or citizenship if they do not support the actions of the country when they are there by request and not born there. Just my personal opinion. If you dont like it, then Fing leave it. Pretty simple you should even understand that. Traitor=T USA=U T-U=? Homeless former Pole who supports Putin a modern day Hitler is probably the answer to what equation if ?=Novichok

the US would have gotten it done without

But didn't.

we could easily get to Japan from Hawaii

But didn't.

As I said, to defeat tyrants, there has to be a coalition. It's no accident that the motto of the trade union movement is "United we stand, Divided we fall".

The situation with Ukraine is no different.

y China....they will want to keep their trade with the West too, I guess...

But don't underestimate China's deep desire to weaken the US, as well as the EU.

In my humble opinion, I believe it's a MAJOR mistake to not take into account the Chinese ideology that it (China) is the true center of the world-the rest of us are just ripples of its influence.

If China thinks Russia is useful in bringing this to fruition, it's a risk with significant potential benefit.

If China thinks Russia is useful in bringing this to fruition,

Nun ja....they had their chance just now.....but their behaviour doesn't point to an ideological loyalty.....not at all!

Don't get me wrong, I would be glad about a clear face from China....it will be hard again for our industry but the move back out of China has to come sooner or later....

jon357

the move back out of China has to come sooner or later....

I agree, however China is a country that plans a century or more ahead and they are very hard to stop.

They are already figuring out how to leverage the russian invasion for their maximum benefit.

10 Jun 2022  #4566

Well....being seen as overtly supportive of Putin is definitely not for their maximum benefit, that's why they avoid it!

Beijing chafes at Moscow's requests for support, Chinese officials say

China's leadership wants to expand assistance for Russia without running afoul of Western sanctions and has set limits on what it will do

washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/06/02/china-support-russia-ukraine/

Actually China right now reminds me more about Germany.....there is nothing ideological about it, only business!

In the meantime...Quoting:

Moscow clarifies status of UK citizens sentenced to death
Russia does not consider pro-Kiev foreign fighters as combatants protected under the Geneva Conventions

The Geneva Conventions specifically deny mercenaries the status of lawful combatants, which is granted to regular troops in an armed conflict.

As a favor to those idiots who are still thinking, their executions should be on TV.

definitely not for their maximum benefit,

Not in the short term, however as I said, China thinks long term and are masters at strategy.

Moscow clarifies status of UK citizens sentenced to death

....at least one of them is an ukrainian citizen!

however as I said, China thinks long term and are masters at strategy.

Not always in their history!

They have their ups and downs.....like everybody....

jon357
10 Jun 2022  #4570

ukrainian citizen

And Moscow knows that. They're trying to leverage the release of one of Putler's stooges currently on remand there.

They have their ups and downs

And know very well how to use them to best advantage. They are very determined and several steps ahead.

....stop putting them on such a pedestal....their farts smell too! :)

That should be an important factor during the appeals process.

.....yeah....should be interesting. But somehow I can't see any scenario in which these guys come out on top.

@Rich

Novi, what say you....Putin supporting and arming the radical Blacks in the US....you still on Russias side?

Nor would they have had a bomb at all without the UK. Google "Tube Alloys".

Not to mention the Enigma cypher being cracked, thanks to Poland and UK.

10 Jun 2022  #4575

, I think it is naive to think t

Were you peddling lies for naive people like Dirk and Novi?
So let sum it up. As you can't predict the future, your Putin made a decision to attack Ukrainie while YOUR man was in the office. Was that terriotrial grab conspired with Yanukovich's knowledge?

Second question - how you do explain the fact you broke agreement between Russian and Ukrainie from 1997?

jon357
10 Jun 2022  #4576

stop putting them on such a pedestal....

I've seen them in action.

Never underestimate their drive or ability. They are running rings around everyone else.

Bratwurst Boy
10 Jun 2022  #4577

They are running rings around everyone else.

Then how come they have been such losers in their history?
"Century of humiliation" etc.....Mao and his mass murders hasn't been a high point of statesmanship either....

Korvinus
10 Jun 2022  #4578

Putrid finally admitted this war was never about rescuing Ukraine from nazis or protecting Russia from the biggest threat of a smaller country. It was about stealing land that he thinks is 'russian'. So evil. Mass murdering and mass raping little children for giggles. EVIL

But, by doing that it does provide a buffer from NATO.

Hmm... it's not working very well now, is it? The buffer in Scandinavia will soon stop existing when Finland and Sweden join, Poland is arming herself to the teeth and in general the entire eastern flank of NATO is being strengthened. If the aim was to make NATO less dangerous to Russia, then the opposite was achieved.

Also, the feeling of insecurity and fear of invasion made sense in pre-atomic era. With atomic weapons Russia doesn't have to worry about foreign conquest, so that's not a valid reason either.

So, stop pretending I have been avoiding this fact.

I didn't mean you when I mentioned Putin's trolls. You have been indeed extraordinarily honest about it all, and I do appreciate it (even if I don't show my appreciation with enough verbal affection - forgive me :)). Also, you introduced me to Aleksander Blok, which significantly deepened my understanding of current events. Nothing's forgotten, Bobko, nothing's forgotten.

Then how come they have been such losers in their history?

Have they? They control a vast part of the world, have maintained an empire for millennia (which nobody else has on a scale that even approaches throw). have the largest population of any country, and an economy that has exploded with growth at a rate never seen before

Are they "losers" or are they very much winners?

Bratwurst Boy
10 Jun 2022  #4581

They control a vast part of the world,

Compared to a map much smaller Europe with much less people has achieved MUCH more! :)

The HRE was at least as long living (800 - 1806).....to have the largest population is no achievement.....and right now the Xi's no-Covid strategy threatenes that famed economy.

Are they "losers" or are they very much winners?

It has been their own historians which coined their losing time "Century of Humiliation".....and yes, in that time they lost alot....

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_of_humiliation

Doesn't look like winning to me....

We should always be careful to not mistake propaganda with reality. Putin liked to present himself as the cold-calculating mastermind and we have seen how that turned out. Partly because he subordinates did not dare to give him realistic assesments. There are signs that Chinese officials are doing the same with Xi.

Bratwurst Boy
10 Jun 2022  #4583

....and with their dictatorial leadership they have much better possibilities to hide all the failures and fragmentation whereas every fart ever made in the West is out in the open due our free press and democratic rules.

The Chinese love to play a flawless facade....but that's all that is....a fake facade!

AntV
10 Jun 2022  #4584

.. it's not working very well now, is it?

Doesn't appear so. The outcome doesn't change the intent though. It's just a backfire-if that's what it ends up being, which I think it will.

With atomic weapons Russia doesn't have to worry about foreign conquest

I don't know. The whole mutual mass destruction thing might neutralize that sense of security against conquest.

There are signs that Chinese officials are doing the same with Xi.

But, what does that mean in practical terms?

The Chinese love to play a flawless facade....but that's all that is....a fake facade!

Agreed b

Putin supporting and arming the radical Blacks in the US....you still on Russia's side?

No, because I love the US - my home and my children's home. But I hate NATO and the US involvement in this useless org looking for the reasons to exist. Whatever Putin is doing to the snake is fine by me. Remove the US from NATO and I will root for what's left over.

Plus, I like Russia, including its national anthem.

Partly because his subordinates did not dare to give him realistic assessments.

You haven't been at their meetings so you are pulling this out of your ass.
BTW, the US expected a lot warmer welcome in Baghdad. It's natural to feel like God's special envoy for peace, freedom, and "democracy" before you pull the trigger.

pawian

But I just hate NATO and the US involvement

Quite a mixed up attitude.. NATO and involvement is an inherent part of American identity and culture. Similarly, you could say: I love living in RuSSia but I hate drinking vodka. In both cases, you are alienated from your compatriots and feel like an idiot. :):)

its national anthem

No, it is very boring. :):)

Novichok

NATO and involvement is an inherent part of American identity and culture.

Another out-of-the-ass claim. Our involvement = US swamp making money.
Inherent is you and the rest of Europe being on the US military welfare because (see above).

AntV
10 Jun 2022  #4588

NATO and involvement is an inherent part of American identity and culture

I wouldn't say it's inherent part of identity or culture. Not even close. If NATO went away tomorrow American culture and identity wouldn't change an iota .

pawian
10 Jun 2022  #4589

Another out-of-the-ass claim

To which you should acquiesce as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary stress. :)

If NATO went away tomorrow American culture

Now tell us when do you predict it might happen??? :):):) This year? Next? Within 10 years?

Novichok
10 Jun 2022  #4590

If NATO went away tomorrow American culture and identity wouldn't change an iota .

I can beat that...If tomorrow we were told that Europe is now a sea, we would be ecstatic. OK, maybe just me...
Can you imagine...No NATO, no WW3, no trade deficits, no brown refugees,...
